Thank goodness Jorge Garcia is back. Has anyone started the letter writing campaign to make him a regular? Anyone?

So this week, Ben had to learn everyone’s name so they’ll stop hating him (and fix the AC). Roman suggests Ben write two things about each person on an index card with their name and photo — two nice attributes that start with the same letters of the person’s name. Ben loves the idea, only he writes things like Fat Pumpkin for Fred Patterson and Disgusting Mole for Doug Miller.

I understand that women who wear skimpy outfits get the male vote, but not if almost EVERYBODY does it. It sort of cancels everyone out. Have you ever seen so much skintight leather on a TV show before? Yikes! Those that didn’t go for sexy went for pageanty.

I have to say I approached watching the women’s night differently than the men. It’s not because I’m of the female gender and appreciate a fine lookin’ man. It’s because I connected more with the guys and their various personalities better so far. I feel more like I know them.

This was an excellent episode this week. I don’t think we see enough of Frankie’s Aunts. They are so funny to me. An added bonus was that Doris Roberts made a guest appearance this episode. Always so good to see a little reunion from Everybody Loves Raymond. Continue reading

Okay, folks, let’s start this off with a quick warning: I think there is more cold medicine circulating in my body than blood, currently. So I’m going to cross my fingers and hope this is coherent. If it’s not, blame the plague that has now attacked me three times in as many months. Did I offend someone out there who has biological weapons? Jeeze.

But enough about me (for now). There’s been build up for weeks on the whole Prentiss Drama front, and last night we finally get an episode with more than five minutes devoted to it. I’m pleased to say that I think it was pretty well written. That doesn’t mean that I’m suddenly into the idea of plot lines that target our main cast, or that I’m excited that Prentiss might not come back next season. In fact, I am struggling with watching the show lately. But… yeah, after a rewatch of last night’s episode, it was well done. So let’s get on with it!

Ben & Jerry’s Teams Up With Jimmy Fallon on Late Night Snack

photo: brian reed (thetwocents)

Editor’s Note: TTC received an invitation to a sweet press event at the Late Night studios. We sent guest-reporter, Brian Reed, to cover the event for us. Here is his report.

There’s a new treat to munch on while you’re watching late night TV. Jimmy Fallon teamed up with the makers of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to create the company’s newest flavor: “Late Night Snack.”

Fallon unveiled the flavor last night at 30 Rock, with ice cream masterminds Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield by his side. It’s vanilla bean ice cream with salty caramel swirls and clusters of fudge-covered potato chips. This is certainly the first ice cream I’ve ever had with potato chips in it, and I have to admit it was really good.

Fallon went a bit further. “It’s like the best ice cream flavor I’ve ever had in my life,” he said.

The low down You know that Etta James song? “At Last”? Yes, indeed. But, my joy is only at 50%. What happens next week will determine if it is complete joy.

Pre-credits

We start on Redemption Island. Francesca is surprised to see Matt. He’s surprised to be there. He’s not sure what happened but he’s determined to make it back to the game.

Ometepe. Rob is excited that TC went exactly as he planned: Phillip was loyal, Kristina used her idol, and Matt was voted out. Rob and Grant talk with Phillip about the alliance. Rob solo-views that he needs to talk to Andrea about getting her back on board with the alliance.

Do you have a friend who will talk for more than an hour about nothing? Even though you like listening to him or her, at the end of the story, nothing is different? That’s the episode. There are quite a few nice moments (two cheftestants find out they’re distantly related!) but at the end, we’re where we were at the beginning of the episode.

What do I mean? Well, keep reading to find out (what else was I going to say?)

Tonight was a surprisingly heartfelt episode of Modern Family. The slapstick (aka Phil) was minimal as the viewers saw a more vulnerable side to Mitchell and a more sentimental (albeit fleeting) side to Jay.

And while there were a handful of humorous lines, this was considerably light on the silly in comparison to what we are used to. Did that work for you? Keep reading to get my take.

After last week’s double elimination, it’s time for the teams to go home for two weeks. It’s the true test for them at this point, but I’m not sure I would want to! When they return to campus, they will participate in a 5K run on treadmills.

But no pressure!

Hellcats – Recap & Review – Don’t Make Promises (You Can’t Keep)

Hellcats
Don’t Make Promises (You Can’t Keep)

Original Air Date: Mar 1, 2011

Lauren A. – TwoCents Reviewer
lauren@thetwocentscorp.com

Previously on Hellcats…

The freshman season of Hellcats introduces us to Marti Perkins, a sassy, street-savvy law student at Memphis’ Lancer University. When Marti’s academic scholarship is terminated, she turns to her fortunate penchant for dancing and stunting to earn a spot on the Lancer Hellcats cheer squad, full scholarship included. Marti struggles to balance her double life – legal maven in the classroom (which – surprise, surprise – we don’t see a lot of) and tousle-headed tumbler in the Hellcat gym. This season, Marti plays Nancy Drew for her law professor as he tries to repeal a local “Three Strikes” law. She and classroom co-conspirator Morgan Pepper uncover a hidden Lancer secret that ultimately gets athletic director Bill Marsh fired, Lancer QB1 Jake Harrow serving a well-deserved prison term, and innocent convict Travis Guthrie out of the pen, back on his feet, and living (for the time being) with Marti’s mom Wanda. Of course, none of this happens without a little help from the Hellcats…

Savannah Monroe, bed-bronzed beauty and captain of the squad, is Marti’s roommate. Her perky personality and good-girl southern charm attract Marti to the Hellcats, and also attract Marti’s long time friend (with occasional benefits), Dan Patch. The girls duke it out over Dan after a fateful back-seat-of-the-Buick hook-up, but ultimately their friendship – as well as Dan and Savannah’s relationship – comes out on top. Savannah deals with her own drama off the padded gym floor: her younger sister (and cheerleader for rival squad Memphis Christian) is pregnant, and her family is a hotter mess than a Memphis girl’s makeup on a summer day.
