NASCAR on TV (week of March 21st)

jeff gordon will be on ellen this week

As most of you readers know, I love NASCAR. But what do I love more than NASCAR? When my TV and NASCAR worlds collide.

So with that, I bring you the NASCAR on TV schedule. If there is anything where the two cross over, you will know about it!

This week is cut a bit short since the first three days are gone. But it’s a great week to get started since the circuit is in Fontana, just a short drive from Los Angeles.

Thursday, March 24th

Who: Trevor Bayne and Joey Logano
Show: American Idol (audience members only)

Mr. Sunshine – Recap & Review – Celebrity Tennis

This is the first episode of this show that I actually liked a bit. I don’t mean to go overboard, because the show has a long, long way to go, but I can finally see a bit of hope for it. For once, the issues these characters are grabbling with seemed a little more real — and therefore I cared a little more for them.

Oh, and I’ve had a crush on tennis champ Jimmy Connors for decades (I was even a ball girl at one of his exhibition matches as a teenager!).

Right now I am so glad that putting Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior in my TTC Weekly picks post earlier this week didn’t backfire on me. It really was one of the shows I loved to watch this week! It was good!

Seemingly random men are kidnapped and found gagged, bound and hanging, with only a day between the murders and in different states the Unsub can be anywhere. The second victim is a father of a young girl – the family is on a trip and while they are in a parking lot the small girl notices a man who has according to her been following them.

Lights Out Down For The Count

photo: fx

Rumor are abounding that Lights Out isn’t going to be renewed by FX for next season. Another critical darling gets smashed due to poor ratings on FX.

Update: FX VP tweet: JohnSolbergFX: Today is a drag. Loved working with @warrenleightTV @HoltMcCallany Watch the final 2 eps of #LightsOut, Tues 3/28, 4/5 at 10PM.

The folks at TVLine had this to say:

“‘FX will not be moving forward with a second season of the critically acclaimed drama series Lights Out,’ a network rep says in a statement.

FX will air the final two episodes of the freshman run in the show’s regularly scheduled time slot, Tuesdays at 10/9c, on March 29 and April 5.”

MyTwoCents:
I wish the quality shows could find more of an audience than some of the ‘watch me live my life like a jerk’ reality shows. Ugh.

Law & Order SVU – Recap & Review – Bombshell

Last night’s episode of SVU had it all. And by “all”, I mean promiscuity, plot twists (of course), incest, deception, murders and Eliot and Olivia acting undercover as a couple going to a swingers club.

The opening scenes teach us two things- first, if a guy stumbles up to you with a knife in his crotch, don’t remove it, and second, if you do remove it, please do not panic at the blood and try to put it back in.

Another episode in the Bahamas and one more to go after this. Another instance of Mike showing just how much he respects women in the kitchen (which is to say, very little). We do get Masaharu Morimoto (and Wolfgang Puck and Michelle Bernstein) who is awesome and the best. Hang in there, we’re almost done.

Quickfire
Wolfgang Puck is with Padma in the kitchen. There are ingredients from Quickfire Challenges in seasons past assembled in piles. The challenge is to assign a past Quickfire to another chef. Mike assigns canned goods to Antonia. She gives hot dogs to Richard. He gives Mike the one pot challenge. They have 45 minutes.

The Low-down
Let’s see. Phillip is crazy. Stephanie is scheming. Ashley and Natalie don’t do anything around camp. Matt wins the Redemption Island duel. Rob fool around with immunity idol clues. Yup, nothing new here. Oh, what is new is that David turns out to be unable to take criticism without going off the deep-end.

Pre-credits

Krista shows up Redemption Island. She really likes Matt. She promises him she’s going to give him a run for his money.

Zapatera. Day 14. Steve asks Stephanie why she and Krista voted for him. She says it wasn’t about him, it was about keeping the team as strong as possible, which kind of does make it all about it him, yes? Stephanie solo-views that she’s going to try to be delicate with people now since she’s on the bottom. She doesn’t want to get sent to Redemption Island. It seems a bit late in the game for her to change like this. Steve solo-views that it’s a gut check that after 13 years in the NFL someone isn’t saying he can’t compete physically.

TwoCents & Five Questions with Rizwan Manji & Parvesh Cheena (Outsourced)

outsourced is family

Rizwan Manji & Parvesh Cheena, Actors

Outsourced is a show that many of you might not be watching, but you should be! It’s a very funny workplace comedy that airs at 10:30 tonight (Thursday) on NBC. In this reviewer’s opinion, it fits right in with the “Comedy Night Done Right” comedy block. I was tickled to get the chance to talk with Rizwan Manji (Rajiv) and Parvesh Cheena (Gupta) during a conference call promoting tonight’s episode. They are like brothers the way that they joked with each other and got along on the phone. I have had nothing but pleasure talking to the cast of this show. Read on to see what I mean.

The Two Cents: Parvesh, I understand that you’re the one in the cast most likely to be found clowning around with the novelty toys that are props in the show. It’s true are you playing pranks with them on the set? What are some of your favorites and please bear in mind that your costar is on the line to set everyone straight if you don’t come clean.
