The group sits around the table looking furtively at each other. Dean says they can’t just sit in awkward silence anymore and they need to get it out in the open. We don’t know what “it” is yet. For funsies, Dean has made puppets of all of them so they can use those to express themselves.

Cut to puppet study group. Puppet Abed and Troy play study group bingo because the group talks about the same things all the time. They’re in a rut. Jeff thinks they need a break from Greendale. Annie suggest an adventure. Oh, and now it’s musical puppets as they break out in song, Avenue Q style. In their song, they decide to take a ride in a hot air balloon. Sara Bareilles is the balloon guide and as they’re singing and loading up, they lose the tether before Sara can hop in. Now the group is in a runaway hot air balloon. Pierce starts “helping” and everything goes wonky. It’s Pierce, he makes everything worse.

Here’s a fact that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has watched this season — even in the recorded group medley of top Bacharach/David hits Lazaro is flat. But one pleasant surprise is how good Candice and Amber sounded together—wow!

I am no longer covering the Ford commercials. This week’s mission was outright silly, with the contestants playing soccer – with their cars! Seriously? What happened to helping underprivileged kids learn to sing?

SouthLAnd
Chaos

Original air date: Apr 10, 2013

I usually take this introduction paragraph and write something quirky or get giddy about something great that happened, like Russ coming back. But today I’m still shaking over last night’s episode. I’ve never missed an episode of SouthLAnd. I’ve also watched many cop/fire dramas on TV, like ER, Third Watch, NYPD Blue, Blue Bloods, Rescue Me … What does this have to do with anything? Given all of the shows I’ve watched, last night’s SouthLAnd may have been the most gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, nightmare-inducing hour of television I’ve ever watched. And that includes watching Tommy go to the 9/11 hell in his nightmares in Rescue Me.

“Cops are supposed to hold the line between chaos and civilized society. Every now and then, chaos gets the upper hand.”

I’m ready to make a prediction on who I think will make it into the finals. But you’ll have to wait until the end of this recap (see how sneaky I can be to get you to read all the way through?).

This week had a double theme as contestants tackled a song by Burt Bacharach and Hal David and then a song they wish they’d written. The first was a real challenge — how to make ‘60s and ‘70s songs sound contemporary. Yikes!

Families support each other through it all – they are our walking sticks. We need to move forward but they make the walk smoother, easier. Unfortunately, with their help, we are exposed to their opinions – wanted or not.

Claire and Cam’s house is ready to be flipped. They’re excited and Phil’s excited for the easy commission – the house came out really nice. The group gets an offer from a cocky real estate agent (Phil’s frenemy/nemesis) but Phil declines the lowball proposition. Regrettably, the country is in a bit of a recession so buyers aren’t lining up around the block. Understandably, Phil’s nemesis lowers the offer.

Ziva is still acting rather oddly since her father’s death, especially since his killer, Bodnar, is still out there. DiNozzo becomes obsessed with finding what Ziva is up to and protecting her, particularly since the CIA and Homeland security have told NCIS that Bodnar is off limits. Perhaps a case will give Ziva something else to focus on.

Navy Reserve Lieutenant Callie Daniels comes home to find her husband missing and their house ransacked. NCIS searches the house and McGee finds a severed finger! Eep!

Phillip outsmarted someone. No, I know but it happened. I think. It might’ve been unintentional but you know Phillip would claim it wasn’t either way.

Reynold. I think I’ve been pretty clear that I don’t like him. Well. My dislike really blossoms tonight as Reynold uses just a weirdly gross term. I’ll let you find the term on your own.
