HBO Renews Animated Comedy Series “The Ricky Gervais Show” For Third Season

the ricky gervais show will be back

HBO has renewed the animated comedy series THE RICKY GERVAIS SHOW, based on the record-breaking podcast, for a third season. The voices on the show are recorded by Ricky Gervais, his longtime collaborator, Stephen Merchant, and Gervais’ colleague and friend, Karl Pilkington, whose offbeat musings inspire many of the storylines.

Currently presenting new episodes Friday nights (9:00-9:30 p.m. ET/PT), with the second-season finale scheduled to debut April 15, THE RICKY GERVAIS SHOW has inspired critical praise, with the New York Times saying the series is “proof that big laughs can come in small doses,” while the New York Post described the show as “crazy fun,” and the Houston Chronicle observed that the show’s “pointless conversations will keep you in stitches.”

Gossip can be a great thing. We all partake in it. But gossip amongst geeks? That has to be bizarre. In the real world, gossip turns into a bad game of telephone. “I had an affair” turns into “Gloria has blue hair.” But with our favorite group of nerds, things stay matter of fact.

In tonight’s episode, it’s a little bit too matter of fact so Amy and Sheldon decide to test the time it takes to spread a rumor. And we also get to find out just how bad Raj’s crush for Bernadette is (and why a clarinet is involved).

Ryan told us that tonight’s result “might be shocking.” Why did he bother adding the word “may?” It was shocking. Period.

Seriously, I thought that Jacob would be going home for sure after he said that he wouldn’t be eliminated because he sang the song wrong, but because people couldn’t look themselves in the mirror — coupled with the fact he went first. My daughter even pointed out that he was in a completely different color palette than the rest of the contestants tonight.

We start off with great news…Brenda is pregnant! But Jeff is not all excited like Audrey is. You all know I love Jeff to bits, but I was hoping that we would get a more, giddy with happiness, reaction from Jeff, instead of his usual laid-back self. Then comes the hormonal-Brenda, where she is with morning sickness and emotional and as she says: “turning into a girl” and blaming Jeff.

John Flynn is shot on the marina near his boat, pulled from the water. Jane is not intrigued with the mystery at this point, giving Lisbon only the barest information as well as the tidbit of information that your body completely regenerates its cells every seven years — so she is technically a whole new person from when they met. “Sadder, but wiser,” she agrees.

Flynn’s widow, Erica (the stunning Morena Baccarin) is at the station, mourning like a good widow should be. Jane faces off with her, and while the exchange is friendly there’s also sort of tension there. She recognizes the “utter sadness” in him that makes me sad for him.

I adore actress Lizzy Caplan. How cool that she’s the perfect foil to Matthew Perry’s quick quips. In fact, they have some of the wittiest dialog ever penned on this show. Sort of a Thin Man banter.

Why can’t all the show’s dialogue be this good? Why?

Do you ever wonder what happens to the families after tragedy hits? I do. You always hear about the victims and the family of the victims. But you hardly ever hear about the families of the person who commits those vicious crimes. That part is never shown.

Families of Unsubs must be devastated as well, they most likely never expected their family member to kill anyone, they probably have been caught by surprise just as much as the rest of the community. If a kid becomes a killer, there must be something wrong with the family in probably the first thought that comes to mind. Something must have caused it, so the families fall victim to the cruelty of neighbors, people who used to be friends and colleagues. Until that moment when the pressure is too much and they snap. And then fingers get pointed again saying that they knew it all along it wasn’t just a rotten apple it was the whole family.

Welcome back to Top Chef Masters! Remember the old format where chefs earned stars and there were four chefs on an episode and only one advanced to the final round? No? Well, that’s all gone. Also gone is Kelly Choi.

Now, we have the familiar Top Chef format with all of the chefs present from the start and one is eliminated each week. Curtis Stone is our host instead of the wooden Choi.
