It must be Christmas in Mystic Falls, because (Santa) Klaus is HERE! After eons of talk about “the oldest vampire in the history of time,” we finally get to meet the big bad himself. Well, sort of. He’s playing coy. Instead of appearing in person, Klaus takes over Alaric’s body.

And, well, considering the fact that Alaric is a gloriously attractive specimen of man, can you really blame him?

This mostly fun episode featuring the lovely Christina Hendricks is marred by a too-small kitchen, which is one of my pet peeves when it comes to this show. I especially dislike it when it obviously handicaps one or two people and results in an elimination.

Also, one chef leaves because of outside circumstances and one chef returns to fill the spot.

Apparently our profilers like to watch horror movies in their free time, which makes all the sense in the world. I know that when I’m off from my real job, I like to watch movies about all the worst parts of it. I guess it’s whatever floats their boats, though, as this episode starts out with Morgan, Garcia, Reid and Seaver on their way out of a slasher film, discussing it.

My husband pointed out that this was great timing with the new Scream (er, Scre4am?) movie coming out. I just thought it was convenient that the team is talking about the movie as actual similar events are taking place San Diego.

Wow! Can you believe we are already halfway through? The last seven weeks have just flown by. I can’t believe Alexandria is still there. Maybe she’ll go tonight? One can hope. We’ll see the fallout from last week’s showdown between Brittani and Alex.

Do you think Brittani will stay around? Let’s find out!

My Two Cents – What Soaps Mean To Us (And Why They Shouldn’t Be Canceled)

After several soap operas already got the ax, as well of the future departure of SOAPNet, and after months of rumors, today the official announcement came out that ABC has canceled All My Children and One Life to Live. That leaves ABC with only one soap opera – General Hospital – which is steadily at the bottom of the ratings.

Here at The Two Cents, we generally cover prime time TV, but a few of us do watch daytime. Join us in our discussion of what soaps mean to us and why they shouldn’t be canceled.

My Two Cents: One of my friends once made me watch as she cried. She was crying because General Hospital‘s Blackie Parrish (played by a young John Stamos) was going to jail* for two years for accidentally killing Lou Swenson. That was 1984 and for the past 25 years, I have watched daytime soaps… on and off. Today, I was greatly saddened to learn that One Life to Live and All My Children have been canceled.

A new week and a new case for the Red Cell team. This time young mothers are being kidnapped while their children are left behind, unharmed. Three women have disappeared so far and apparently three is the magic number to get the Red Cell team involved.

When Beth arrives at work she overhears Mick talking to a woman named Jenna in a very caring way. Of course she assumes that Mick is in love and teases him about it. But it turns out the girl in question is not someone he dates but is his younger sister to whom he’s very close. Their parents died when they were young and he took care of her. Because of their death he takes this case harder than the other team members. It makes you wonder if something similar happened to his parents – if their death was violent – and if that might be the reason why he’s working in law enforcement. At least that is what I wondered when I saw that back story develop throughout the episode.

The low down
This was an interesting episode. Rob appears to have tightened his grip on his alliance mates — so much so that the word “cult” gets tossed around by the former Zapatera members. Phillip appears to show that he’s playing a part at least some of the time. David shows that talk about him not performing well under pressure is probably true. Oh, plus the episode has two immunity challenges, two tribal councils, and two eliminations (but no Redemption Island duel).
