Our regular Office recapper went and had herself a baby this week (Congrats, Shannon!), so for a while you are all stuck with me… the girl who usually covers the gross scifi stuff. Have no fear! I know practically every episode by heart and have an actual Dundie sitting on the bookcase next to me. I’m qualified. Perhaps too qualified, truth be told. Ah, well. On to ‘Michael’s Last Dundies,’ which I’ve watched it three times now. Perhaps that is why this recap/review is a bit tardy.

The episode opened with early morning visits to the homes of various employees to inform them that they had been nominated for a Dundie Award. Michael wants to make these wake-up calls a tradtion, DeAngelo is not so sure. The reactions to the visits are what we would expect: Jim is resigned because it’s such a Michael thing to do, Stanley threatens to call the cops, Meridith is still pretty drunk (and doing a walk-of-shame). They even swing by Toby’s house to egg it. Very appropriate for the beginning of the day of Michael’s last Dundie Awards.

Bones – Recap & Review – Finder

Well, I don’t even know where to begin with this review of “Bones” because in reality it was not really a Bones episode.

We were introduced to a crossover of Finder, a new Hart Hanson show. It is Booth that knows Walter, played by new guy Geoff Stults, from his military days. Booth explains that Walt has this freaky ability to find anything. Bones is a bit skeptical but he will end up proving just how good he really is.

The Vampire Diaries – Recap & Review – Klaus

Klaus

I hope I won’t disappoint you all by saying that I had mixed feelings about this episode. There’s been such a build up to the arrival of Klaus –he’s the oldest vampire in the history of time! A nefarious puppetmaster (but not that one)! Evil mastermind! An original!

In some ways I think the show set itself up for something it couldn’t necessarily deliver on. In other ways, I hope I’m just being prematurely judgy, because Klaus himself wasn’t exactly front and center this episode (despite it being named, you know, Klaus).

American Idol – Recap & Review – Top 7 Results

American Idol
Top 7 Results

Original Air Date: Apr 21, 2011

Patricia Morris Buckley – Sr. Staff Writer

We got two good performances tonight, one from David Cook and another from the eliminated contestant. That’s two out of five — not a great average.

In fact, this results show had a tinge of battle fatigue to it. As in “Here we go again… another show… got to wow the audience (yawn).”

We started off with one of the weakest group numbers ever, with Lauren, Haley, Jacob and Stefano singing “Hey, Soul Sister.” It was a train wreck. Terrible blending and even worse attempts at harmonizing. Everyone kept acting as if they were a solo act.

I know this has become a common sentiment when it comes to Parks and Rec but really, Soulmates might be one of their best episodes yet. Its incredible pacing makes sure not a minute is wasted and that is an especially impressive feat to pull off, considering this episode mixes everything Parks and Rec does best: friendly competition, polar opposites, and relationships.

Chris is holding a City Hall meeting, where he announces plans to implement a new government health initiative. Joe from the sewage department, who you might remember from last season as the creepy guy who tried to pick up April at the telethon, hits on Leslie and she wonders why she only seems to attract gross guys.

Tribute to Elisabeth Sladen (1948-2011)

Elisabeth Sladen dies aged 63

It was a shock to hear that actress Elisabeth Sladen died on the 19th of April, after a private battle with cancer, aged only 63.

Elisabeth Sladen is best known for her role on Doctor Who as Jon Pertwee’s companion Sarah Jane Smith. Sarah Jane Smith was an investigative journalist and quite a feminist for 1973. She also travelled with Tom Baker’s Doctor for a while as well, but it’s with Sarah Jane Adventures that she really came into her own.

When don’t you want to eat a dish prepared by a Top Chef Master? When it’s centered around insects and worms. That’s the Quickfire. The Elimination Challenge features things repeatedly between taken away from the chefs as they prep their dishes. Both challenges were interesting and seemed to challenge the chefs.
