In a special announcement this afternoon made directly to Dexter’s 13 million fans on the show’s Facebook page, SHOWTIME confirmed that the upcoming eighth season of the groundbreaking series will be its final one. The announcement coincided with the release of an exclusive tease from the premiere of the series’ eighth and final season, which debuts on Sunday June 30th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME. The series premiered on the network on October 1, 2006 and has grown its loyal audience every season since its debut. Dexter was the recipient of the prestigious Peabody Award, as well as 25 Emmy® and 10 Golden Globe® Award nominations, and was twice named one of AFI’s top ten television series.

“When it debuted in 2006, Dexter redefined the genre, by taking the anti-hero to new heights and pushing the boundaries of the television landscape,” said Matthew C. Blank, Chairman and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc. ” DEXTER paved the way for the next generation of award-winning hit SHOWTIME series, and its cultural impact will be felt for years to come.”

SouthLAnd
Reckoning

Original air date: Apr 17, 2013

Every year, I cling to hope SouthLAnd will return again. I’ve written a Goodbye SouthLAnd piece, a thank you to the fans of SouthLAnd for saving the show, a petition to the fans to help save the show and haven’t missed a single minute of the show in hopes that somehow my watching it would keep it on the air. But I’m pretty sure we’ve reached the end of one of the best shows to go unnoticed. Canceled by NBC after one season, TNT picked it up for a six-episode trial run and had three 10-episode seasons after that. Last night was the last episode of the fifth season and most likely, the series.

It resolved a few story lines and left us guessing just a tiny bit on what may or may not happen in the future. It was almost a choose-your-own-adventure at the last minute.

“Most cops manage to stay sane despite the chaos all around them. But in their hearts they know, everyone has a breaking point.”

Opening scene: Sammy is doing a ride along with air patrol. They have cornered one of the men that kidnapped Lucero and Cooper. He shoots at them and fuel begins leaking into the helicopter. They have to make an emergency landing and Sammy starts to freak out.

American Idol
Top 5 Perform

The show begins with sympathies to the people of Boston. Then it’s zip, zip, zip to the two performances by each of the remaining five contestants. They sang a song from the year they were born and then a diva song.

With five such top-notch singers, no one faltered. I couldn’t help thinking how nice a Larazo-free show is!

Dawn is breaking down emotionally. It’s not in the same way as Brandon but it’s still a little unsettling. Will it be enough to get people to turn on her?

In other, bigger news, the most exciting Tribal Council in a long time, possibly ever. I won’t spoil the details here but WOW. Amazing. Everyone involved seemed stunned.

Dancing With The Stars
Week Five Results

Original Air Date: Apr 16, 2013

Colleen – TwoCents Reviewer
Colleen@thetwocentscorp.com

Tonight is the results show for week five and “Dancing Side By Side” with the professionals. As time goes on, we see that the couples with the celebrities are doing so much better (for the most part). It is getting so much harder to tell who will be sent home each week. Who will be sent home tonight? We are about to find out!

We start off tonight’s show with a dance with more of an out of this world feel. It even looked as if they were dancing on another planet, possibly the moon from the look of the dance floor. I have to say I was not a huge fan of the music, the out of this world look or the dancing. What is your take on it? Did you like it? What was your favorite part, if you had one? If you didn’t like it, why not?

This episode is all about Booth and I was OK with that, as we finally get to meet Momma Booth. Joanna Cassidy is our guest star and Booth handles the situation perfectly as we like her, hate her and like her all over again. She shows up at his office and he is happy to see her but not quite as much as I thought he would be.

Booth insists on Mom staying with them at the house and they enjoy a good dinner and talk, until Bones kind of ruins the mood. But all in all we learn that they withstood some beatings and tough times with a drunk of a father. She had to leave.

Guilt By Association/Legacies

Original Air Date: Apr 15, 2013

Karen Belgrad – Senior Editor
karenbelgrad@thetwocentscorp.com

I hope you like your season finales complicated with plenty of twists and a side a closure. Because, if you watched tonight, hoping for mostly satisfying answers, Dallas was handing them out in spades.

Did you want to know what happened to original-Pam Ewing? Who killed J.R.? What was in J.R.’s letter to Bobby? And what was J.R.’s “master plan”? All of these questions were answered tonight in the two hour/two part season finale. The only question we don’t have an answer to is… will there be a third season?
