I wasn’t quite sure if this week’s result show was about a singing contest or a very long commercial for the Idol judges. We got Steven hawking his new book. Jennifer then gave us a pre-recorded version of the song we saw her video of a few months ago — AND a preview of her newest video.

Yikes! The contestants certainly got lost in all of this.

A Fistful of Paintballs (Part 1)

The setting is eerie, dark and disturbed. Greendale appears in ruins. Graffiti is scrawled on the walls, yet as we move closer, it looks more like multi-colored splotches. Then, it dawns on us. We’ve seen this kind of carnage before and the splotches are all too familiar now – another round of paintball has started at Greendale and who knows what the stakes will be or who will survive.

Yes, one of the most creative episodes to grace television returns with higher stakes, new alliances and more contestants than before. Oh yeah, and this year has a western theme as well. Regu-watchers, let’s saddle up!

Earlier this season, the character of Charlotte King endured one of the most horrific attacks ever seen on network television. It was a harrowing experience with a slow, painful, and realistic recovery process that kept viewers completely immersed in her journey. And tonight we were invited to see her and Cooper cement their love with a beautiful outdoor wedding. We’ve embraced this couple through their relationship (and missteps), and as viewers, we’re more than happy to wish them well on their new life together.

The only hitch? Someone forgot to tell their parents and friends that a wedding is a happy occasion.

If the trending topics on Twitter immediately after last night’s episode of SVU are any evidence, I’m not the only one who still thinks of John Stamos as Uncle Jesse from Full House. The episode, though, may have put an end to that.

We start out with a baby found abandoned in the cold outside. He turns out to be Jasper, the adopted child of Dede Aston, who, according to neighbor Wade, has disappeared herself after yelling was heard coming from her apartment.

Brit X-Factor Judge Joins American X-Factor Panel

it's coming

British pop superstar Cheryl Cole will join Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Simon Cowell as a judge on THE X FACTOR, the highly anticipated singing competition series debuting this fall on FOX. Cole, who has sat alongside Cowell as a judge on the U.K. version of “The X Factor” for three years, is a multi-platinum-selling solo artist and a member of Girls Aloud, one of the U.K.’s most successful female vocal groups of all time. Cole will join Cowell, Reid and an additional judge (to be announced) as they travel to THE X FACTOR audition cities searching for the next global superstar or breakout music group.

“I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with,” said Cowell. “She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.”

Tonight we got, as Ryan says it, a double dose of music. With the field down to a mere five, the contestants sang two songs each. The theme was “Now and Then.” “Now” is self explanatory and “Then” is songs from the ‘60s and ‘70s. It’s also an opportunity for the singers to show different sides to their artistry.

We also had Sheryl Crow as second chair mentor to Jimmy Iovine. They seemed like cheerleaders, telling the audience what a great singer each contestant was. Frankly, it got boring after a while. The only really fun moment happened with Sheryl tried to show Jacob how to sing a song by singing it.

Here’s how they did.

Everything comes to a close tonight. There are still a lot of different things that they need to wrap up. We still have all of the unanswered questions with Raylan and Winona’s relationship. Another question that we all still have is what will happen between Raylan and Art with his job. Also, what will happen to Dickie now that everyone knows that he has been released from prison? Hopefully we will find out now as we conclude season two.

Two interesting challenges both of which involve cheap food: cooking a dish where the ingredients cost a dollar or less for the Quickfire and then making fast food for the Elimination. The Quickfire shows just how much you can get for a dollar. The cheftestants aren’t given all the details before they do their shopping. I kind of hate when the show pulls that sort of thing. There really isn’t any reason for it.

Tonight was simultaneously one of the funniest and one of the saddest episodes of (sorry we still cringe at the title) Cougar Towns. There may not have been any Penny Can, but we had plenty of new gags to play with this evening.

I’m really glad this show is being given a third season, as it may not have the best ratings, but it has one of the most incredible ensembles. Although Courtney Cox is the considered the lead, the whole show is really one big supporting cast that play perfectly off each other.

Modern Family has brought us classic holiday episodes with Halloween and Valentine’s Day.  Tonight they brought us the joy (and agony) of Mother’s Day.

With three clear story arcs, this was a tribute to all things motherly.  It brought us love, frustration, vitriol, tears, and lessons. But how well did the stories mesh?
