So You Think You Can Dance
Top 20 Perform

Original Air Date: Jun 15, 2011

FINALLY it’s the real meat of this show- the performances!! When our amazingly talented performers get thrown OUT of their comfort zone and have to do something scary and new. I’m already a big fan of the tapper guy who can do anything it seems. Cat Deeley looks gorgeous, I love her more disheveled look.

They introduce the top 20 and honestly I can’t tell them apart all that much, I’m sure they’ll distinguish themselves soon. Turns out one of the dancers has had to drop out for tonight, and is on the chopping block. But he has a chance if someone else screws up! The judges tonight are Nigel, Mary and Megan Mullaly (whom I ADORE!). She seems like a random choice, but she really does have the chops.

Hot In Cleveland
Where’s Elka?

Original Air Date: Jun 15, 2011

Anne – Associate Editor
anne@thetwocentscorp.com

Last seen on Hot In Cleveland – Joy was involved in a scandal with the governor and was still trying to get a green card so that she could stay in the USA. All the girls had broken up with their boyfriends and Elka was found guilty of stealing all the loot in her storm cellar. At the very end of the winter finale, Melanie had discovered that Elka had gone on the lam and left a note. Will they find her? Where did she go? Will Joy be identified as the governor’s “hooker”?

The episode picks up right where the finale left off.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Returns July 10

larry returns in july

With the distinct possibility of divorce from Cheryl on the horizon, Larry faces major changes in his life. Will he be able to cope?

The Emmy®- and Golden Globe-winning comedy series CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, executive produced by and starring Larry David, kicks off its ten-episode eighth season SUNDAY, JULY 10 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM stars “Seinfeld” co-creator David as an over-the-top version of himself in an unsparing but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his life. The series also stars Jeff Garlin as David’s manager Jeff and Susie Essman as Jeff’s wife Susie.

White Collar – Recap & Review – Where There’s A Will

White Collar
Where There’s A Will

Original Air Date: June 14, 2011

Anne – Associate Editor

Things are back to normal on this episode of White Collar, mostly. Peter and Neal are back to working cases and Mozzie is plotting and scheming behind the scenes to start selling off some of the Nazi loot. Jeff Eastin, the Executive Producer was live-tweeting this episode and I’ll include some of those fun facts in my review. The episode also includes, according to Jeff, the first time that Chris Masterson (Malcolm In the Middle) and Danny Masterson (That 70s Show) are actually playing brothers onscreen. I’m tickled by this because I love the brother’s Masterson. They do a great job playing estranged siblings.

Sarah Ellis does not appear in this episode at all. She’s been really scarce lately, so you have to wonder how serious her and Neal’s relationship really is. I am just not that fond of the Sarah Ellis character yet. They need to include her more so that her character can grow (on me). Let’s jump right into the action.

MasterChef – Recap & Review – Elimination Round

MasterChef
Elimination Round

Original Air Date: Jun 14, 2011

JD – Sr. Staff Writer

So finally we are through with auditions, and now we get down to trimming the fat. The pool of contestants gets whittled down from 38 to 18 in two tests of basic kitchen skills. Last year we had onion chopping and an egg dish, and this year we get apple chopping and a chicken dish. Basic, basic, basic, but if they can’t do that, then they don’t need to move on, right? Right.

Of course there was no absence of the usual drama; they were still filming in a ridiculously dark warehouse that was better suited for a horror movie, with massive trucks full of apples that got dumped all over the floor, and a live chicken that one of the contestants got a little too excited about thinking she would be allowed to kill it. Yikes.

Veronica Mars – Summer DVD Review – The Wrath of Con

Before I start, I’m going to link to where you can watch the episode online (free! and legally!). So, if you haven’t watched, give it watch and come back.

Also: important developments in episodes 2 and 3. Troy and Veronica are now dating. Paris Hilton made a guest-star appearance as someone who secretly dated one of the bikers from the PCH gang. Oscar-winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter) had an all-too-brief guest spot. A traffic camera from the day of her death shows that Lilly was alive much later than was believed which blows everyone’s alibis.

The West Wing – Summer DVD Review – In Excelsis Deo

happy holidays

The West Wing
In Excelsis Deo

Original Air Date: Dec 15, 1999

Welcome back to your weekly dose of The West Wing as seen from the view of Aaron Sorkin. This is a co-written by episode, but nonetheless displays some of the classic Sorkin-esque moments you will come to love from the writer of this great show. Plus, this episode happens to be one of my all time favorites.

This episode mixes the personal with politics, showing how the characters balance the two. It also is the first of the many amazing holiday episodes this show has produced. I’m pretty sure I’ve enjoyed them all and since it’s summer, I think it’s only necessary to think about Christmas now. What makes this one special is the heart that it manages to bring in the light of some serious issues also going on.

Pretty Little Liars – Recap & Review –It’s Alive

Pretty Little Liars
It’s Alive

Original Air Date: June 14, 2011

Emily– Reviewer

emily@thetwocentscorp.com

Previously on Pretty Little Liars: The last time we saw them, things were not looking good for our favorite Pretty Little Liars. With Ian’s body now missing (he is dead, right?), and the whole town now thinking they’re all crazy, things sure seem worst than ever. How are they going to cope with the trauma of last season’s finale? Why is Jenna so creepy? (Seriously, what is up with that girl?) Are Aria and Ezra finally done? Is Toby going to continue his streak as most awesome boyfriend EVER? So many questions going into this season’s premiere…

This new season began pretty much where we left off, with the girls outside the church and everybody looking at them like they’re crazy. And to make sure fans were not disappointed after a long wait, we had creepy shadows lurking in the background, more A messages (who’s back with a vengeance, FYI), broken hearts, Jenna still freaking the hell out of us and a possibly new interesting character…we’ll see…

First of all, let me just say how good this episode was. It was so much better than last week and I loved how they added some more humor to the show. Joan sitting in the jury box was priceless! Annie is in Paris and Auggie is in charge…not Charles. (for those of you that remember). Keep it up Covert Affairs writers!
