Every week, the staff at TheTwoCents will be posting their top picks for viewing. They won’t always be the top shows of the week, but the programs that each writer is most looking forward to checking out that week.

So, set your DVRs, watch, and then come back here to discuss how the picks worked out for you.

#1 Tuesday, Jun 28 – 9:00 ET – USA – White Collar
USA seems to be highlighting secondary characters this week, as White Collar is focusing on our favorite system-fighting, suit-untrusting, scheme-forming cohort of Neal, Mozzie, and the past that made him the man he is today. Willie Garson tends to add some of the more wonderful tones of humor each episode and this week should be a big extra bit of fun for us. Plus, I can never get enough of Mozzie never addressing the “suits” by their names (a double negative that had to be done). Yes, and even as a man I can admit Bomer is good-looking and charismatic as Caffery.

One of the reasons I love watching this show is Mary and Marshall interactions. Since the reveal of Mary’s pregnancy, I’ve missed some of the plain funny back and forth between the two (not about her pregnancy), but this week we got some of it back.

It’s also another week focused on dysfunctional families. Two weeks after tackling the Amish, this week we tackle Indian traditions.

Burn Notice

It’s been a long, long time since I’ve seen Michael Westen. At the end of season four, we were left with Michael being welcomed back by Dylan Baker into the CIA. Six months have passed since then and it seems Michael has found his way back into the Company to get rid of the organization that burned him. Actually, our favourite spy is with the CIA in a rather Chuck Bartowski kind of way. And that for me set up the episode rather well.

Love Bites – Recap & Review – Sky High

Love Bites
Sky High

Original Air Date: Jun 23, 2011

Karen – Sr Staff Writer

This week’s vignettes dealt with getting high at the wrong time…wait, is there a right time? High school freshman getting asked out by a hot senior and dealing with a bad first kiss, and finally, an astronaut dealing with a cheating girlfriend. For me, there were a few chuckles…but that is about it.

Highlander
The Samurai

Original Air Date: Sept 26, 1994

This week we will be looking into The Samurai. This episode goes back to the time where Duncan got his sword. It is the sword of a Japanese samurai. This also shows some of the training that he went through to be one with the sword. It also shows that even after hundreds of years, the pact that he made with his trainer, Hideo Koto, still holds true.

We start out this week in a beautiful apartment with these two people in bed. The women gets up and talk to her husband. He tells her that he is on his way back. Her husband was already in the parking garage. He starts to talk about the history about the Katana, about how they used to test it, they would see how many condemned men that it could cut through. Then he kills the man for sleeping with his wife and she was a witness to it. After her husband came back upstairs he asked her to come to bed. She stabs and kills him… or so she thought.

The Unusuals – Summer DVD Review – One Man Band

The Unusuals
One Man Band

Original Air Date: Apr 21, 2009

Rachel M – Staff Writer
rachelm@thetwocentscorp.com

Delahoy and Banks are chasing a guy with a one man band strapped on down the street(s) when Delahoy stops, grabs an apple, and hurls it at the guys head. Shockingly, he hits him and the guy falls down. Impressive! To avoid whatever charges he’s facing, the walking band tells them about a store, where you can go if you want to kill somebody. Well that’s an interesting business plan.

Casey is dealing with her rich private life up around her ears at work. Eddie Alvarez’s wife knows her from prep school, and is around the precinct. Then her financial adviser asks for a favor, getting a rich kid out of jail for peeing on a cop’s shoe. She goes to Walsh for help, and he tells her how to work the system.

Hot In Cleveland – Recap & Review – How I Met My Mother

Hot In Cleveland
How I Met My Mother

Original Air Date: Jun 22, 2011

Another Wednesday night and another night in Cleveland. In this episode, Joy meets her son and an ex-con comes a-calling for her. Seems she broke his heart. But alas, there is a twist. Blame Victoria, as usual. Elka and Melanie are along for the ride and provide some of the best comedic moments.

It seems that Elka changes Dummy the dog’s name to Chance. She’s trying to train him so that he can get the part of Goliath in the new play at church…completely preformed by animals. I’m sorry that we don’t get to see this, but I’m sure it was too complicated to shoot. Animals don’t always cooperate, as those of with pets are well aware. My cat does her own thing. Until it’s time to feed her, then it’s all about me.

So You Think You Can Dance – Recap & Review – 4 Of 20 Voted Off

So You Think You Can Dance
4 Of 20 Voted Off

Original Air Date: Jun 23, 2011

Karen Belgrad – Associate Editor

After last week’s non-elimination, tonight we say goodbye as viewers to four of the top twenty dancers. America has voted and six dancers will face elimination and the judges will ultimately decide which two stay and which four leave. But who will it be?

At this point, it’s anyone’s game as we’re just getting to know our dancer (or Cat’s “babies”). The only ones that I don’t think aren’t going anywhere are Melanie (and Marko) and Sasha (Alexander), but will voters agree?
