This episode absolutely reminds me of when I was growing up. I think every teenager goes through that phase where all they want is privacy. Don’t we all want a little privacy? Anyway, this is what this episode is all about.

Freaks and Geeks – Summer DVD Review – Carded and Discarded

Freaks and Geeks
Carded and Discarded

Original Air Date: Jan 20, 2000

Ever since Lindsay was caught helping Daniel cheat on his algebra test, Mr. Rosso has been concerned about the effect the freaks are having on her. His uneasy feelings about the situation force him to do a counseling session with the group but when he takes Lindsay aside to discuss her plans for college, it’s clear that she is his main concern. Lindsay is more or less a full member of the freaks group at this point, so it’s no surprise when she makes it clear that college is not in her future right now. Her family obviously didn’t get the memo because that night, her aunt and uncle send her three hundred dollars to put towards her college fund for her birthday. Lindsay has better ways to use that money.

Happy 4th of July to everyone! While many are tending to sunburns and enjoying some fireworks, we’ve also got a new episode of our favorite new hit summer show to chat about!

After last week’s party debacle, many readers were angry about Bay’s insolent attitude towards her family and Daphne. Let’s see if she redeemed herself this week!

Camelot Cancelled!

It’s officially time to mourn. On June 30 it was announced that the period drama Camelot will not be picked up for a second season. The series presented a dramatic retelling of the Arthurian legend from the start of young Arthur’s rise to the throne.

A statement from Starz, the network which aired the drama, explains “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option of subsequent seasons of ‘Camelot’ with our production partners Gk-tv, Octagon films and Take 5 Productions”.

Falling Skies – Recap & Review – Grace

Falling Skies
Grace

I am very pleased to be your friendly neighborhood guest recapper for this most recent episode of Falling Skies. I’ve enjoyed the series thus far and love the vibe of the show, which is a cross between Battlestar Gallactica and The Walking Dead, if you ask me.

The fourth episode finds our heroes (plus one baddie) out scavenging for motorcycles. On the way to Boston’s version of Orange County Choppers, they happen upon a sleeping horde of Skitters… hanging by their toes under a bridge. Creepy. With a group of Mechs nearby, also in sleep mode, the group opts to not blow them to hell, much to Pope’s (the lone baddie) chagrin. The mission is the focus: They get the bikes, the bikes (with riders of course) go out and get the medicine for the harnessed kids, Tom gets Ben. Speaking of harnessed kids…

I’m filling in for Patricia, your regular reviewer and recapper for Leverage but she’ll be back next week. Hopefully I do an adequate job in her absence and get all of the characters’ names right.

It was a dark and stormy night. No, really, it was. Some guy walks down the hall of a Gothic mansion and into a bedroom with a gun, pointing it at Nathan. Nathan says it isn’t what it looks like. Guy with a gun says it looks like Morris Beck has been murdered and it looks like Nathan did it. Nathan admits that is what it looks like. Uh oh! Credits!

Last week saw the murder of Wild Bill. We ended with Jane drinking and Seth (and me) in tears. But what’s this? Keith Carradine’s name is in the credits? Did I forget some sort of zombie Bill component to this show? [sidenote – David Milch, call me – I have a great idea for a new series!]

After Wild Bill’s murder last week, it was hard to return to the show. But dangit, if I didn’t want justice for Bill. Was I satisfied? Was anyone? This is Deadwood, y’all – there ain’t no law here!

TTC Weekly Picks July 4 – July 10

July 4 – July 10

Alyssa Silva – TwoCents Reviewer
alyssa@thetwocentscorp.com

Every week, the staff at TheTwoCents will be posting their top picks for viewing. They won’t always be the top shows of the week, but the programs that each writer is most looking forward to checking out that week.

So, set your DVRs, watch, and then come back here to discuss how the picks worked out for you.

#1 Tuesday, Jul 5 – 9:00pm ET – USA – White Collar (Veiled Threat)

I’m a belated convert to this series and I’m sorry for having come late to the religion. This show is fantastic and Matt Bomer, snake eyes and dashing outfits aplenty, executes great comedic timing and dramatic panache. His bromance with Peter is right up there with the best of them. This week both Neal and Peter have to go undercover as wealthy young bachelors to catch a black widow. Hijinks will undoubtedly ensue.

True Blood – Recap & Review – You Smell Like Dinner

True Blood
You Smell Like Dinner

Original Air Date: Jul 3, 2011

Meg – Staff Writer

Tonight on True Blood, everyone gets naked! I mean, more than usual. We’ve got panther yokels stripping down, naked shifter confessionals, nude bro-bonding, and all sorts of things to remind us that this is HBO! Metaphorical pearl-cluthing aside, it was a great episode. As Eric faced down the Bon Temps coven, Jason got panthered, Jessica played with her food, Bill backstabbed, and Sam got a girlfriend (given his track record, this does not bode well).

The Unusuals – Summer DVD Review – Crime Slut

Stumbling out of a big metal supply cabinet where a yellow raincoat got in the way of Beaumont and Walsh getting down makes for a lovely shirtless Jeremy Renner opening scene. And a call gives us a clue that this episode will be Beaumont’s turn for a story when she says she’ll have the money today. What is she up to? Walsh was right when he told Casey that everyone has their secrets.

Beaumont goes to a pawn shop to try and get the money, and the store clerk won’t give her what she needs. But he he likes the watch she’s wearing, which Walsh gave her to wear since she couldn’t find hers. Then a couple comes in and the lady whacks Beaumont in the back of the head. This got ugly fast!
