It’s a fact that the geeks in this episode are very different from the geeks we were introduced to in the pilot. It’s clear their world is no longer just Steve Martin impressions and Star Wars debates but instead, they’re forced to deal with gritty and ugly truths. Here, we have a very heavy-handed storyline for the geeks as their ongoing quest to leave behind childhood comes full circle, but not in the way they may expect.

We’ve met many parental figures along the way, including Nick’s strict, military man father, Kim’s borderline unstable mother and most notably the Weirs, who just might be the most normal and boring of the bunch. The geeks are forced to take a long, hard look at their parents when Neal unearths a huge secret his father has been keeping.

Design Star – Recap & Review – Episode 3

Design Star
Episode 3

Original Air Date: Jul 25, 2011

Patricia Morris Buckley — Sr. Staff Writer

I think it’s time to dub this year the Season of the Design Star Divas. The egos of some contestants are so massive, they have no idea how bad they look to viewers — and probably never will.

Unfortunately, that leads to a few casualties along the way and poor Mark found himself blamed for a wall color that he not only didn’t choose, but fought over and over to change. In fact, he battled so much, the only other thing he could have done was get out the brush and repaint it after knocking his co-designer unconscious.

In a Salt Lake hospital, something strange is going on. And Artie’s love interest Doctor Vanessa calls Artie in to consult. Steve calls Artie on his lie when Claudia notices that he’s preened a little for his trip. Claudia goes with to support him, since he doesn’t do well around blood and guts.

At home in the middle of nowhere, a blonde naked Myka and brunette naked Pete wake up together in Artie’s bed. They use an artifact to try and trace it back but there aren’t a lot of clues there. To add to the weirdness, Artie’s toothbrush is tangled in the sheets. Ew. How will all work out I wonder, find out after the jump!

So many guests in this episode! Return guest, the charming and lovely Wil Wheaton, and “Queen of Geek” Felicia Day. And the king of everything comic Stan Lee. Tonight, GD is manning mission “Astraus” to Titan and Fargo and Holly (Day) are responsible for the interview process. Poor Holly is not real keen on people, so it’ll be up to Fargo to whittle down the applicant pool.

Jack is planning a family vaca for the whole crew, but their plans are interrupted when Zane and Jo are caught in “the morning after.” Turns out their relationship has ramped up to hot and heavy again! Ooolala.

Falling Skies
Sanctuary (Part 2)

Original Air Date: Jul 24, 2011

Patricia Morris Buckley — Sr. Staff Writer

Did I hear the TV announcer at the end of this episode right? Are there only two more episodes of Falling Skies left? I wasn’t immediately hooked on this show, but it’s really growing on me and just as things are getting interesting, it’s going on break? It’s a good thing that it’s already been renewed for a second season, that’s all I can say.

This is the second half of the show about the kids of the Second Mass being kidnapped by other human soldiers and traded to the Skitters. The soldiers seem fine with the idea that this is necessary to save their own kids. Sick, sick, sick.

Leverage – Recap & Review – The Hot Potato Job

The Hot Potato Job

Original Air Date: Jul 24, 2010

Patricia Morris Buckley — Sr. Staff Writer
pmb@thetwocentscorp.com

This week the team had to steal a potato. That’s right – a potato. A hot one, as a matter of fact.

A young girl comes to Nate and Sophie asking them to steal back a potato she developed with extra vitamins from VerdAgra, an evil corporation who wants to own the rights. But she wants to make it available free to help those who can’t afford good food. She calls it (in one of the many potato puns) a super tuber.

For an episode with a huge dramatic reveal, there was certainly a lot of kissing tonight wasn’t there? Although I still feel as if it remains to be seen if people are actually kissing the right partners.

Last week ended with a huge bombshell and this week, seemingly, the biggest secret of all is revealed. How did you feel about the reveal? Keep reading to see if we’re all in agreement.

Entourage – Recap & Review – Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home

The boys are back! And because the television gods love me, CBS agreed to let Scott Caan (SWOON..) appear on the final season of Entourage to say goodbye to his alter-ego, Scott Lavin (is it weird I just realized his character had a different last name?).

When we last left the boys, Vince was heading to rehab after getting busted with drugs (and a fight with Eminem), E was happily engaged to Sloan until she asked for a prenup (er, her father did?), Johnny had signed on to voice a cartoon in his own series Johnny Bananas after being turned down for every show known to mankind, Turtle got into the tequila business (and found himself a new woman), Scott was going into partnership with E to take down Murray and Ari’s wife decided to leave him. Got all that? Because we’re about to start the beginning of the end…

This week Mary and Marshall are back working together in an episode with a more serious tone than we are used to with the show. A soldier is adjusting to being home post war, in addition to dealing with being in WITSEC.

To lighten it up a bit, as the show does well, there are some new developments for Marshall and Abigail.
