Out With A Bang

So … Vince is back. Eric is single. Johnny has a show. Turtle is missing Alex. Ari is getting divorced. Scott is still hot.

Tonight’s episode is an extension of last week, where Vince came out of rehab and decided to write a movie about a Russian mining accident with Billy Walsh’s help. In other (not so new) news, Eric is still miserable over breaking up with Sloan (again…). In a surprising turn of events, Ari is devastated over his wife dating someone new and vows to find out who it is (and it’s someone who I take issue with!). And finally, Johnny gets a break … with Andrew Dice Clay?! Oh and Turtle, he’s there, but as usual, is just in the background.

KPonTV on Top Gear: The Complete First Season on DVD

photo: warner bros

The globally acclaimed UK show debuts its fresh-faced, car-crazed American cousin! Comedian Adam Ferrara, rally racer and stunt-driver Tanner Foust plus NASCAR racing analyst Rutledge Wood star in the gleaming new US model.

Watch the global hit with a jolting Yank twist- featuring such favorites as “Big Star, Small Car” and “Power Laps” to those oh-so-terrifyingly fun challenges.

Rev up your DVD player and see all 10 episodes, including special guest appearances by astronaut Buzz Aldrin, actor Tim Allen, skateboarder Tony Hawk, singers Bret Michaels and Kid Rock, and more. As seen on the History Channel.

As a fan of the series on BBCA I was very tentative about this ‘new’ version in the US. However, comedian Adam Ferrera, champion rally and drift racer Tanner Foust and racing analyst Rutledge Wood quickly put me at ease. This show is funny, just as car-focused and does find a voice of its own.

After last week’s drama-filled episode, this week we are welcomed with more of the opposite. Lots of lighter and heartwarming moments about babies and being pregnant and a Mary and Marshall moment that only makes me love him more, which I wasn’t sure was possible. Our witness of the week isn’t exactly as she seems, but she’s a gangster’s mistress, so what more do you expect?

Wow! What an episode for a certain couple… A lot happened, as is usually the case on this crazy show! I am Emily; I’ll be covering for Meg this week, so let’s get to it! The plot moved forward in a gigantic way this week: Marnie suddenly became super creepy, Jessica and Jason (!) grew closer, there were no Hotshot people (yes!) and…did I forget something? Something about a Viking and a certain fairy getting it on?

Are you surviving the summer? And the off-season shows? I’m having a great time with all the summer hits, and here to help you pick out which ones to watch this week.

So, set your DVRs, watch, and then come back to discuss how the picks worked out for you.

#1 Monday Aug 1 – 8:00PM ET – ABC – The Bachelorette (Finale)
Now, I don’t actually watch The Bachelorette religiously. It kind of makes me ill, but the finale is worth watching for the pure drama. Plus you’ll know what everyone is talking about for the next two weeks.

What does a man do when he’s trapped in his cage? Claw his way out. What happens when those claws are ripped from you? Try to gain sympathy from the enemy’s ranks. What happens when those ranks kick you when you’re down? We’ll have to see Walt’s next step to get that answer.

Walt has been able to stay alive with some cunning plans so far, but it seems he is stuck serving Gus until Gus says otherwise. And when Gus does that, Walt might be out of luck. At least, Walt has his mental faculties available to him unlike the rest of the ensemble. The cookies are crumbling this week.

Holy Salt Water! – Supernatural Mondays – The Bela Enigma

A well-known fact within the SPN fandom is that female characters have generally not been received well. It’s a shame, really, because there was one woman who stood out from the pack. I am talking about Bela Talbot, the thief who was introduced to the Winchesters and proved to be more than they could handle. She was strong, fleshed out and deserved better than her storyline served her. In the end she was left to the mercies of the hellhounds and this week I contemplate the enigma that Bela left behind. Was she as bad as the writers made her out to be, or was there potential there left squandered due to the objections of a strong minority?

Don’t believe all of that fake snow flying in the backyard – things are really starting to heat up in the Big Brother house! The veteran alliance has been in power since day one, but the tides changed when Daniele revealed her intention to target Jeff last week in order to save her BB-BFF, Dominic. Rachel sent Dom packing, leaving only ten players in the house; this means Golden Key time is over, and it’s anyone’s game. So, can The Vets maintain control, or will we finally get a reprieve from The Brenchel Show? Let’s hit the slopes to find out…
