Eureka
Of Mites & Men

Original Air Date: Aug 15, 2011

Rachel M – Senior Staff Writer
rachelm@thetwocentscorp.com

It’s been two weeks since Allison was “brain jacked” and Jack doesn’t want her to go back to work but she’s going stir crazy. But Senator Wen shuts her down and doesn’t allow her to come back. Poor Allison. Jo passes her Astraus test and she’s pysched, even when Zane catches her. Senator Wen tries to coerce Jack into service at GD, but it’s not a request, and she wants him to wear a suit.

Jo, Parrish, Fargo and Marten are trapped in a small room in a deep sublevel to test their mental and physical stamina, ala being in a space shuttle. This is going to be amazingly entertaining!

True Blood
Spellbound

Meg – Staff Writer
meg@thetwocentscorp.com

After last week’s episode, True Blood kept the stakes (metaphorical and wooden) raised, with the vampires and witches preparing for battle.

Meanwhile, Jessica survived her ordeal, only to get kicked out of two houses, Tommy played drag queen to mixed results, Sam realized he’s never going to get a break, Lafayette got in touch with his inner Ghost Nanny, and Sookie and Eric had trippy naked times.

Leticia – TwoCents Reporter

Eureka , the show that has gone on for six years, has been canceled and will not continue onto its sixth season, but will be ending with thirteen fourteen episodes in season five for the upcoming year.

There had been speculations earlier this month about continuing the series for a shortened then full sixth season, but due to the final decision made by Syfy executives this will not happen. The network gave their final statement that was reported by EW that they have decided to “not order a six season of Eureka”, but instead hope to wrap up the show with “the new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year.”

The intense ending of last week set up what could be a really bad path for Vince. A coke-induced suicide with a fresh-out-of-rehab superstar around? No bueno. In (what I consider to be) an awesome turn of events, Ari hit the sheets with Dana while his wife hit the town with a (in this world) single Bobby Flay. To get through this episode, that is all you need to know.

TTC Weekly Picks August 15 – August 21

August 15 – August 21

Ryan O – Senior Review
ryano@thetwocentscorp.com

Every week, the staff at TheTwoCents will be posting their top picks for viewing. They won’t always be the top shows of the week, but the programs that each writer is most looking forward to checking out that week.

So, set your DVRs, watch, and then come back here to discuss how the picks worked out for you.

#1 Thursday, Aug 18 – 10 pm ET – Comedy Central – Futurama (The Tip of the Zoidberg)
If you’re a sci-fi, you really should be watching this show. If you’re a Simpsons fan, you really should be watching this show, too. This week, we find out how Zoidberg and Professor Farnsworth first met.

#2 Sunday, Aug 21 – 6 am ET – AMC – Mad Men (three episodes)
Rewatching Mad Men from the beginning has been a real treat so far. There’s a lot of things you see that were hinted at and foreshadowed far in advance. If you’ve never watched the show, jump in. The previouslies will catch you up and you can watch from here through the end of season four.

#3 Wednesday, Aug 17 – 8 pm ET – TCM – The Maltese Falcon
This is a must-watch movie. Yes, it’s old. Yes, it’s in black and white. Yes, people don’t really talk like that. But, it’s a tense mystery full of double-crosses. The acting is amazing. There’s a lot of style to everything. A lot of modern shows (like Veronica Mars) use the film noir style that this movie is a prime example of. Consider it fun homework.

#4 Thursday, Aug 18 – 11 pm ET – FX – Louie (Halloween, Ellie)
Louie takes his two daughters trick-or-treating. What could go wrong?

#5 Monday, Aug 15 – 10 pm ET – Sundance – My So-Called Life (two episodes)
How’s this for a comparison: Mad Men is to the 1960s as My So-Called Life is to high school. The show is a classic even though it was cancelled after one season. You deserve to watch good TV and this is good TV.

What do you guys think? Anything here look good? What am I missing? Share your TwoCents on the week in the comments below.

Last week, Skyler successfully secured the car wash to launder money, while Walt discovered Jesse had disappeared most likely due to his lack of caring about what happens to his own life.  Things can never go perfectly for Walt, can it?

Walt shows his loyalty this week determined to find out what happened to his partner, no matter what the cost or the overall risk.

This week I am joined by fellow SPN fanatic Tabitha (who is also my sister) and together we’ve come up with our list of the top five Supernatural episodes that made us wish we didn’t have that last glass of water. Now keep in mind that scary is a very subjective term – things that don’t go bump in the night are just as likely to make us scream into each others’ ear!

Our list begins after the jump!
