So last night marked the finale of season two of America’s MasterChef, and we got two full hours of competition. I was worried there might be a lot of filler, but I was pleased to find myself glued to the screen. The night before took down Suzy, and while Fox.com and Hulu teamed up to pull the episode offline (for free, anyway) causing me to miss it (sorry, guys), I hear it was her time to go. I wouldn’t have been sad to see Christian gone from the semi-finals, but I have to admit that, arrogance aside, he was a better cook than Suzy.

Christian, Jennifer, and Adrien went into the final three, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. You all know how I came to feel about Christian, but did I mention I initially wrote Jennifer off? And she wound up my favorite going into the finale. Not only did she prove herself, but the other contestants writing her off really got me riled up.

But who actually won MasterChef? Read on and find out.

KPonTV on 2011 Emmy Picks – Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series

emmy picks: supporting actor drama

Every year I attempt to predict the Emmys. I’m usually wrong. How wrong? If I was a weather man, I’d predict snow in July.

However, I’m a self-proclaimed TV critic and thus, it’s in my mental contract with myself to try to predict the winners. I am fortunate enough to have seen at least SOME of the episodes of most of the nominated shows and can speak pretty well on most of the actors. So, let’s see if my predictions can hold any water this year. (I wouldn’t hold your breath.)

In any case, I hope I can start a debate with you all and we can discuss the possible winners in the comments below. Here we go!

Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series
2010 Winner: Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad (not eligible in 2011)

This season finale was A-MAZ-ING. For a show that had a few bumps in the road, they finished with an excellent episode, that answered some questions, gave us some nail-biting cliff hangers, and toyed very skillfully with our emotions.

It makes it that much more frustrating to get a great episode that sets up for the next season so well and to not know if there will be a next season! While viewing numbers may not have been as high as desired, the series definitely has a solid cast, well written storyline, as well as a good mixture of heart and action and deserves a chance to continue their story. That said, let’s see what it was about this episode that still has me tingling…

The end of the summer is almost here and so is the end of the summer DVD club and reviews of one of my favorite and beloved shows. We are ending with the season four finale, the last episode Aaron Sorkin ever wrote for the show. Sad really, but it’s yet another memorable finale where the staff rallies behind the President and First Lady as they deal with the a personal crisis that hits close to home for everyone. If you haven’t seen this episode watch the one before this, “Commencement,” as it’s a direct lead in to it.

First of all, let me just start by saying I LOVED this episode! It was definitely my favourite of the season (and no, not just because we saw Toby!), but because there were finally some major developments in many storylines I felt were getting kind of nowhere.

We got some major tension in the Aria/Ezra relationship, the “Jason thing” got a little clearer and the parents are starting to get a clue…

This episode contained my all-time favorite Leverage line and it had nothing to do with the heist. FBI agents are moving in on a crook who is grifting people out of their life savings, when the agent in the lead laments that his partner can’t be there.

“Yeah,” he says, “the swelling’s going down. Whoever knew that ferrets could be that vicious?” Seriously, that’s gold.
