Design Star – Recap & Review – Finale

Finale

I’m trying to remember the last time Design Star has had two such strong final contenders. It’s been quite a few years.

In this case, Karl is undeniably an excellent designer, but still struggles on the camera challenges. Meg is brilliant on camera, but her designs aren’t well thought through and she can struggle with time management issues.

True Blood – Recap & Review – And When I Die

True Blood
And When I Die

It’s the season finale, y’all! As Bon Temps prepares for Halloween (considering every other resident is a vampire, werewolf, or witch, isn’t it sort of permanently Halloween?), True Blood winds down a fairly uneven season. The body count was high, with several loved (and not-so-loved) characters joining crazy Marnie in the afterlife. After all the stabbin’, shootin’, and murderin’ who is left to pick up the pieces?

Unbelievable! That is the one word that describes how good the summer finale of The Closer was! This episode was great but this also marks the point where there is only ten episodes left of The Closer. This week, we see a ruling on the summary judgement which could or could not leave Brenda in the clear but a shocking turn at the end of the episode made my mouth drop wide open!

After a week off, Weeds returns with its next episode in a season full of friction and division in the Botwin ranks. Although so far Nancy has succeeded in vanquishing her external enemies, her luck might not last as enemies start to rise from her own ranks.

How much longer can she ignore Silas’s determination to be grown up, or ignore Shane’s desire to be involved, or Andy’s to not be? But perhaps her first concern right now should be getting Dimitri his money, before his bored military friends come calling…

Entourage – Recap & Review – The End (Series Finale)

Entourage
The End

Original Air Date: Sep 11, 2011

I feel like the Queen of Series Finales. I’ve had the task of writing two series finales in one week – and I’m not happy about it. But at least with Entourage, I know a movie is coming in the not-too-distant future.

That’s why last week, after watching the last three episodes and the “Final Farewell” special, I gave my predictions on what would happen. I said it would end like any other season finale because Entourage is not a show to grandstand, it doesn’t do time jumps and knowing the movie is coming, I knew it wouldn’t wrap things up with a nice bow. So, here were my predictions: E would follow Sloan to NY (after a few back and forth arguments), Vince would follow Sophia wherever she was going and the final scene would be in the airport hangar, with \ two airplanes (a throwback scene, if you will). I was torn on Ari’s future, since I loved him with Dana and Mrs. Ari – er, Melissa – seemed determined to get divorced. I had no predictions for Johnny or Turtle, as their futures had been decided last week (with the pickup of Johnny’s movie by CBS and Turtle making nearly $4 million when Avion went public).

So how’d I do? Let’s find out …

Holy Salt Water! – Supernatural Mondays – 5 Male Crossovers: Pt II

Sometimes you watch a show and you can’t help but think how a character from another show might fit in. Supernatural is no different. When I see Dean decapitate a vampire, I wonder what Buffy would think of his methods. Or what the boys would make of Harry Potter if they ever crossed wands – or wand and salt bullet to be precise. These next two weeks I’m going to present a list, in no particular order, of characters from across the TV realm that I think would fit in well with the Winchester universe. The last part in this series includes an alien, a werewolf but sadly no candlestick maker.

Lately, we are given an image, a brief close up of the ending we are to see. It has been of blood spilt. We are brought in so close we are not able to determine where we are in the Breaking Bad microcosm. It isn’t until the episode has unraveled that we regain our bearings.

If you can’t trust where you stand, can you trust anyone who stands around you? This is the question that stands before Walt and Jesse. After this week, the answer is blurrily more clear… and yes I meant and made up the word blurrily.

Doctor Who – Recap & Review – The Girl Who Waited

I hope you brought your tissues because this episode promises to be a real tearjerker. It all starts harmless enough. The Doctor wants to take them to Apalapucia, voted the second best planet for intergalactic travellers. However, when they get there, it’s just white corridors and doors. Whilst Amy has gone to get her phone (so she can take pictures, not update Twitter like the Doctor accused) Rory presses the green button to go to the next room. Amy arrives and presses the red button. A “time glass” in both rooms helps Amy and her boys communicate but whilst it’s only been seconds for the boys (and the audience,) an entire week has passed for Amy. She’s trapped in a faster moving time stream!
