The Birthday

The Birthday. Wherein all sorts of Big Bad Vampire Stuff goes down. Ripper! Stefan is Klaus’ lapdog, Elena and Damon are friends/enemies/friends, Caroline throws a party, and Jeremy’s seeing dead people problem gets scarier.

A girl in spaghetti straps and short shorts comes plopping out of a grand white house in Tennessee and we know she’s gonna die looooooooooooong before Klaus shows up. He’s looking for Ray Sutton (or at least that’s what it sounds like past the marbles in his mouth—the boy doesn’t always enunciate) and informs us that Ray Sutton is a werewolf with a sinister hint dropped cool cat Klaus style. And then Stefan is CREEPY outside the door Short Shorts Girl’s friend tries to escape through and then Short Shorts Girl and her friend die screaming.

Welcome to cycle 17 of ANTM! This round we have a group of All-Stars. Going all the way back to cycle 1, we have some of the strongest personalities from each season. I have decided to wipe the slate clean and not dislike someone just because I didn’t during their regular run on the show. Except for one. Can you guess? If you’ve followed my recent reviews, it’s not much a secret. But more on that later. Let’s jump right into the action.

We are treated to one of Tyra’s little vignettes. In this one she is dreaming and having a nightmare about former contestants. But each one is her pretending to be them and she is mimicking their mannerisms quite humorously. She awakens to find herself surrounded by the real models, all demanding that she do an All-Stars cycle. Gee, I wonder. The opening was as tastily cheesy as it is every season. I roll my eyes, but I laugh anyway.

Welcome to the new fall season and to one of its first new shows- Up All Night! I’ll be covering it this season, and apologize for the delay in this review- I was just able to watch the pilot tonight, but should catch all future episodes live. For now, let’s get things rolling.

In the first scene of the series, a couple anxiously waits for the results of their pregnancy test (Or two tests, actually). Seeing as how the entire show is based on them as new parents, I’m going to let you take your own wild guesses as to the results.

Welcome back for the 23rd season. Also back? Redemption Island. And Ozzy. And Coach. Ugh. The show thought we really wanted to see Coach a THIRD time? REALLY? Good grief.

Well, let’s dig in and hope Coach gets eliminated quickly. (Spoiler: Not this episode.)

It’s a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory episode! With special surprise guests that are cool and a real surprise! Plus! Double elimination!

Someone who should’ve gone home a while ago, does! And someone who thinks a lot of themself continues to leave no impression. And, finally, we have an elimination challenge with an individual winner.

TwoCents & Five Questions With Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia)

mcelhenney

Rob McElhenney, Actor and Executive Producer

I have watched It’s Always Sunny since the beginning. Rob McElhenney is one of the reasons why I keep watching season after season. He’s the easiest to look at, he’s funny and he seems very personable. Though most known for Sunny, he also had a recurring role on Lost. He’s also had a handful of movie roles over the years. Lately he’s also made the news because he put on 50 pounds over the hiatus just because he thought it would be funny for the show. When he’s not acting, he’s at home with his wife, Kaitlin Olson, who plays Dee on Sunny. Their little boy, Axel, just turned one last week! Happy Birthday, Axel! When I had the opportunity to participate on a conference call with Rob and his co-star, Glenn Howerton, I couldn’t say no. Unfortunately, Glenn couldn’t make the call because his wife was in labor. Congratulation! I was right about Rob being personable, he was incredible easy to talk to as we chatter about the show.

TheTwoCents: How much of the show is scripted versus you guys just riffin’?

Ringer – Recap & Review – Pilot

When I found out that Sarah Michelle Gellar, here-to-forth referred to as SMG, was returning to television, I was ecstatic. I am probably one of the world’s biggest Buffy fans. No joke. I worshipped the ground she slayed on. After an eight year absence, I believe she returned full force. Rested and renewed. This is good, since she technically has 3 separate roles to play (Bridget, Bridget pretending to be Siobhan, and Siobhan). I was mostly very pleased with the pilot. Mostly.

Not only was SMG great, but the supporting cast as well. This is the best thing I have seen Ioan Gruffudd in since Titanic. Nestor Carbonell moves over from Lost just fine (Richard Alpert still hasn’t aged a day!). And they’re all very nice to look at, of course! It’s really seeming like it’s going to be a great show…let’s just hope the ratings stay up so we don’t get FOXed.

Welcome to week two of Sons of Anarchy. Last week we saw our favorite outlaws getting back to their roots in Charming. They are getting back to their families, starting new ones with Opie and Lyla getting married.

We start to see how Jax has changed after his time inside. All he seems to want is to get back to the basics, he wants to get back to his family and potentially out of SAMCRO.
