So if you’ve never seen this show 1) Shame on you and b) welcome to the funny. And the opening of the pilot is a perfect recap of last season to catch everyone up on how Hope came to be in this world. I love ukelele songs! Hope is a little more grown up now and that is sure to mean trouble.

Jimmy’s showing Hope some old home movies, and then Virginia holds a lighter up to the bottom of the thermostat. That’s why I love this show. Those little details that are perfect.

Glee – Recap & Review – The Purple Piano Project

The Purple Piano Project

It’s been a pretty tumultuous hiatus for gleeks everywhere. From Chord Overstreet’s sudden axing, to Ryan Murphy’s foot-in-mouth comments about graduating students, to the (much-needed) hiring of new writers. A return to core characters and a return to basics was the theme of the day whenever the cast was interviewed about Season Three, but considering the vast ensemble of members that make up Glee what does this really mean?

Did the season premiere salvage my hope that Glee could return to the show that I first fell in love with, or did it just inspire similar frustrations leftover from last season?

Last week we were introduced to the new players in SAMCRO’s gun business. We are still trying to figure out what is going to happen with the rest of the club. Jax has told Clay that he wants out of the club and Tara has announced their engagement. After Roosevelt took a fire ax to the club house, we still need to find out what is going to happen with him and the club.

Before we even start, this week had so much thrown into one week. I spent the evening with my hands up in the air in awe of this episode. There was so much going on and so many different paths that this week takes; it was almost hard to follow.

A wonderful episode of Parenthood is comprised of a few key ingredients. It must always have sibling interactions. It must always have character-centric drama. But most importantly, it must always have heart. And tonight, it wore its heart on its sleeve.

I will continue to shout from the rooftops that this is the best show that not enough people are watching. So, please, ask your friends, family, coworkers, and pregnant latte girls to support this show. And with that plea, let’s get down to Braverman business!

Biggest Loser 12 – Recap & Review – Week 1

Biggest Loser
Week 1

Original Air Date: Sep 20, 2011

I am always so excited for a new season of Biggest Loser. Can you believe we are on season 12 already? I am especially excited this season to see how the show goes without Jillian. I know we’ve had a season without her already, but this time we know she’s not coming back. I find the show very inspirational because as you know if you’ve read my previous reviews, I’ve been struggling with my own weight since I was a teenager. It really is a life long journey, and I can’t wait to see all these people get started down that road.

The fifteen contestants are dropped off in the middle of the California Desert, aptly near Death Valley. They are all wearing gray shirts with their ages printed on the front. Off in the distance, they see an approaching Humvee. Out climbs Alison and she announces that this season is going to be a Battle of the Ages, literally and figuratively. They will be playing in three groups of five based on their ages, which range from 24 to 65.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen the sunny face of Zooey Deschanel everywhere the past month or so. Zooey is adorable and talented (I love her band She & Him) and I’m a fan of her work.

This part seems, based on the previews, like it was written for her, which is awesome. At the end of the day though, I have a hard time getting on board with sitcoms, so will New Girl be everything that’s been promised?

Find out after the jump!

Dancing with the Stars – Recap & Review – Week 1 Results

Dancing with the Stars
Week 1 Results

Original Air Date: Sep 20, 2011

Annette – Associate Staff Writer
annette@thetwocentscorp.com

After only one night of dancing, someone is going to be eliminated. I’m not sure how I feel about this. While there are a couple of celebrities I would like to leave immediately, I feel bad that they’re not given a second chance to show the judges what they can do and if they can improve. But, the producers don’t ask my opinion, so elimination during week one it is.

It’s also a two hour results show, with the first hour dedicated to getting to know the celebrities. I honestly didn’t learn much except that Chaz Bono is afraid of Cheryl Burke and Rob Kardashian can’t count. Oh, and J.R. Martinez is hilarious!

It’s here, it’s finally here! The first post-Charlie Sheen episode of Two and a Half Men! After much speculation – how would Charlie die? Who would Ashton play? – it finally was time to answer all the questions.

Chuck Lorre and company did an awesome job of poking fun at the rumors of who was going to play Charlie and paying tribute to their former leading man in the form of a parade of Charlie’s former flames.

The season that tears the Botwins apart continues as Silas and Nancy both move to secure their power in their drug business, and prove their dominance. Nancy is known for taking out the competition with no mercy, but is she cold enough to turn that skill on her first-born? And is Silas, the most mainstream of the Botwin gang, turned hard enough to do whatever it might take to win against his mother? Continue reading

Hawaii Five-O – Recap & Review – Ha’i’ole

Hawaii Five-O
Ha’i’ole

Original Air Date: Sep 19, 2011

Rachel – Sr. Managing Editor
rachel@thetwocentscorp.com

Previously on Hawaii Five-O: Craziness. Danny found out that Rachel was pregnant, Kono was arrested for the locker robbery, Chin got reinstated by HPD, and McGarrett got framed by Wo Fat for the murder of a surprisingly crooked Governor Jameson. What a finale! The opener of the second season was just as great. It’s been one week and everyone is trying to figure out what the heck happened.

At Jameson’s funeral, Chin catches sight of Wo Fat. The nerve! Chin confronts him, but Wo Fat is not the type to be intimidated. That’s alright. All Chin really wanted was to pick-pocket one of Wo Fat’s henchman. If they can track the heavy, they can find Wo Fat. Speaking of baddies, in a deserted prison yard, McGarrett is attacked by Victor Hesse. As Spike stabs Mick (see what I did there?), he whispers something in his ear…
