Welcome back to Wisteria Lane for the eighth and final season! We left off last season with the murder of Gaby’s stepfather Alejandro and the housewives help in covering it up.

According to the wise and wonderful Mary Alice, good friends are the ones to stay and help you clean up after a party. I bet you never had a party like this, though. When all the neighbors finally leave, Gaby, Bree, Lynette, Susan and Carlos take Alejandro’s body to the woods and bury him. Bree and Gaby are staying strong, but Lynette and Susan look like they’re about to crack. Bree makes them take a pact that they will ALL keep this secret.

Breaking Bad

Let me begin by saying that last week’s episode was my favorite since Heisenberg dropped his homemade concussion bomb on Tuco in season 1. I loved the comeuppance that Gus dished out against the cartel that destroyed his previous future plans.

With that said, it became a boy scout motto episode this week, where if one is prepared, that person will be fine in any situation. However, leave anything to chance and the person finds out that chance has no sympathy for the downtrodden.

The Amazing Race
Kindness of Strangers

After winning yet another Emmy, The Amazing Race – and PHIL – is back for a 19th season! This year we get two Survivor winners, an NFL player, twins, Vegas showgirls, medal-winning Olympians, a Guinness Book of World record holder and more.

Also back is the Express Pass but added on is the Hazard Penalty, giving to the last team to complete the task at the start line. Talking about the start line, the race began in Los Angeles (again). The teams had to look for an umbrella with the letters “TAI” to match the letters they were given “WAN PEI” which would turn into two words – Taipei, Taiwan.

Ready?

And now … the top 11 things I learned from The Amazing Race – Season 19.

When you’re a hunter, you’re only as good as the weapons you keep. Aside from having a brother you can trust watching your back, of course.

And through the years the Winchesters have brandished everything from the conventional (modified of course) to the periodic table elements that vanquish whatever evil crosses their path.

Here’s the last five weapons every Supernatural fan shouldn’t be without!

Doctor Who – Recap & Review – Closing Time

Doctor Who
Closing Time

Original Air Date: Sep 24, 2011

Maria – Sr. Reviewer

We open in a shop where a blonde girl works. Sound familiar? No, this isn’t Rose, but there is a danger in the shop where the girl works. No, it isn’t the Autons. Meanwhile, The Doctor has popped in to see an old friend: Craig. Craig is determined to prove to the world that he can cope on his own, so Sophie has the weekend off and won’t be back until the end of the episode. The Doctor storms Craig’s new house, to find a baby in it! Not just any baby. Craig’s baby, Alfie (although, he prefers to be called Stormageddon: Dark Lord of All). However, it’s just a passing visit. The Doctor has to go. He can’t afford to notice flickering light, or odd energy readings. It’s a pity the Doctor didn’t notice earlier, because back at the shop, another woman is left alone to clear up. She pulls back the dressing room curtain… to reveal a Cyberman!

Saturday Night Live – Recap & Review – Alec Baldwin

Saturday Night Live
Alec Baldwin (season premiere)

Original Air Date: Sept 24, 2011

Len – TwoCents Reviewer
len@thetwocentscorp.com

Tonight’s season premiere opens SNL’s 37th (!) season and host Alec Baldwin sets the hosting record with his 16th (!!) appearance. Radiohead stops by to do a couple of songs, one of which is from their latest album The King of Limbs (?!?). But was the show funny? Read on and find out!

I’ve debated how to break this review down. After all, SNL is a 90-minute show! Some sites out there do a “best-of-the-show” while others rate the whole darn thing. I’m shooting for completeness here, so I’m going with the latter approach. All sketches, one grade per sketch. And important to note: I’m not comparing seasons when doing the grades! I’m scoring based on the merits of the sketch itself – and not how it compares to your favorite Coneheads/Wayne’s World/Spartan Cheerleaders/Miley Cyrus Show sketch. Here goes:

#1 Monday, Sept 26 – 8/7c – Fox – Terra Nova

I am so looking forward to see this show, I can’t wait! I am from the ‘Jurassic Park generation’ – as I like to call it – just old enough to be able to go and see the movie when it first came out and totally taken by the realistic way those dinosaurs looked. Steven Spielberg is involved and he’s the master when it comes to the Dino’s. In 2149 the humans are the ones killing everything around them, but 85 million years back in time we are the insignificant little humans at the bottom of the food-chain while dinosaurs rule the planet.

CSI:NY – Recap & Review – Indelible

We open on a blood drop, but this isn’t a gruesome crime. No. Mac has just cut himself shaving. This is a younger Mac though, and his wife Claire mocks him lovingly for it. Mac gets his own back, telling Claire that he’s getting dressed up so he can attend the opera with “John.” Of course he’s going with Claire, and the moment when she finds the tickets is an absolute delight. They really do seem such a happy couple. Yet she died 10 years ago, on 9/11.

Fringe – Recap & Review – Neither Here Nor There

Fringe
Neither Here Nor There

Original Air Date: Sep 23, 2011

Rachel – Sr. Managing Editor
rachel@thetwocentscorp.com

Let’s start where we left off in Season 3… Where the heck is Peter?!? Seriously… where is he? The whole reason this war-between-worlds started was because Walter crossed over to save the not-dead young Peter and then decided to keep him. Years later, Walter is still trying to make up for his moment of weakness and Walternate is still trying to get his revenge. And now you’re telling me, Mr. Observer, that Peter never existed? Why the war? Why the need for the bridge at Liberty Island? Why is Walter extra-crazy? Why does Olivia have a hole in her life she can’t explain? I’m getting ahead of myself here.

The air of cooperation is a bit brittle at Liberty Island. Olivia and Fauxlivia are exchanging all Fringe Division files while making it clear that they really don’t like each other. Against their better judgement, they know they must work together to solve problems, but there is no trust between the two; no love lost at all. With no Peter, I assume there is no Baby Henry, which may have made the relationship between O and Faux even more intense.

Blue Bloods – Recap & Review – Mercy

Blue Bloods
Mercy

Original Air Date: Sep 23, 2011

FK – Sr. Editor

If you missed our “Previously on Blue Bloods

Our family of cops gave us a lot when we last saw them, mainly the conclusion of the Blue Templar story, which came to a head in the season finale. Frank brought down the BT, and the cop who took out Joe killed himself. Everything was nice and tidy for our favorite new family to come back with an all new fresh mystery this season.

So what’s next? Well we don’t really know, but I’m hoping to see Erin find love and for Jamie to be on his own now that he’s done being a rookie. I’m looking forward to those Sunday night dinners! Let’s just hope there’s no green templar out there somewhere…just kidding!

The season premiere wasn’t anything to write home about, but it definitely set up the rest of the season. There’s a new mayor, Jamie has a new assignment, Frank has to make a decision and Erin and Danny work together on a too-close-for-home case (as usual).
