The poor three remaining contestants couldn’t pick their own songs as they came within spitting distance of the finale. They had three songs chosen for them by Jimmy Iovine, the judges and “the production team” (who is that?).

It was a crazy night with nine total performances, the hometown visits and Nicki and Mariah dressing like they were 16. Mariah wore and white cheerleader outfit with her midriff showing while Nicki showing cleavage threatened to get its own chair at the judging table.

We each have our heroes. Hells, Enrique Iglesias sings about wanting to be yours! Who’s the champion in your family? Let’s see who Luke and Manny chose as their family hero for their homework assignment.

Hero #1: Cam

The whole family ends up in a roller rink for a charity event – invited by Mitchell’s ex-boyfriend, Teddy (his first “steady” after coming out). Cam is okay with the current relationship between Mitchell and his ex, just not Mitchell’s family and Teddy. Cam is jealous to the tenth and wants the family to break up with Teddy but it has to come from Mitchell. Oy!

Given what happens in the first part of tonight’s episode, one might be surprised it’s not the season finale. For a while- until NBC ordered two more episodes- it was supposed to be. I’m curious about what, if anything, the writers changed since then.

If you saw the preview airing after last week’s installment, you already know. Amanda gets shot during a perp walk. Fin reaches her first and Olivia and Nick run to a building in search of the sniper. By the time they get to the roof, there’s nobody there.

Eddie is the last of the three-guy alliance. He seems like an easy, obvious elimination. Or does that make it the perfect time to blindside someone?

Oh and don’t forget: the finale is Sunday! SUNDAY! Tune in to see Erik win! Or so I think!
