Judges’ Homes, Part I

Blast the American League Championships! If not for them, we would have heard by now which 16 of the 32 finalists would be going on in The X Factor. When the championships went over time by two hours, Wednesday night’s episode became a repeat. Which meant that the two-part Judges’ Homes began Thursday and continues on Sunday. Urrrggg….

One of the things I like about The X Factor is how quickly it moves. Not this episode. Part of the problem, a big part, was that after every commercial break the whole episode had to be explained one more time. (The contestants have been divided into four groups, invited to the judges’ homes where they will give The Most Important Performance of Their Lives!) It got downright annoying. Plus, it made the episode draaaaaag out, even with some of the performances cut in length. That’s why we only got halfway through all the performances.

The Secret Circle – Recap & Review – Slither

Yet another great episode from a show that seems to have a solid understanding of pacing and storytelling! And, of course, the creepy! At the end of last week’s episode we watched as the snake-demon who had been possessing Heather for sixteen years was released by her death, and found its way into Melissa…through her ear! Few things are more disturbing than stuff going into ears.

We don’t have to wait long to see the effects of this possession, and they are definitely disturbing. But how will the inexperienced group of witches fight against dangers they don’t understand and don’t have the knowledge to combat?

Grey’s Anatomy – Recap & Review – Love, Loss And Legacy

Grey’s Anatomy
Love, Loss And Legacy

Original Air Date: Oct 13, 2011

Angelique – Associate Staff Writer
Angelique@thetwocentscorp.com

Love, loss and legacy really says it all.

Avery’s mom is coming to town and Avery’s not happy about it. His mom is a world-class surgeon who wants to be in control of everything especially when it comes to her son’s life. She wants to meet Lexie and pretty much tells him she isn’t good enough when she figures out that Lexie isn’t related to the great Doctor Grey but is merely Meredith’s half-sister. She also believes plastics is a specialty which you choose for the easy money you can make with unnecessary operations.

Since Avery knows that his mom will judge everything in his life he’s made sure that Lexie won’t be around when his mom is in town. He does so to keep her safe because he really loves her. Lexie of course doesn’t see it that way. She probably thinks that Avery is the one who is ashamed of her. Meredith explains to her what it is like to have a surgeon who procreated instead of being a mom.

DM started a new ad campaign so there are billboards with Andy’s face on it all over the city. Someone defaced all of them especially the ones that had Dwight on them too. Let’s say the defacings were not safe for work. Hee.

Andy is throwing a garden party at Schrute Farms to impress Robert California. The dress is Connecticut Casual, whatever that means. Dwight wants to break into the event hosting business so he bought a book about throwing a garden party written by James Trickington on eBay for $2. Jim is disappointed by how poorly his book is doing.  He’s only sold one copy.

Troy and Abed get a new apartment and host a housewarming party. Shirley is baking in their kitchen. She made pizza out of ketchup and cream cheese.  Mmmm, my favorite but Abed is disturbed and says they’ve ordered real pizza.  Troy and Abed studied a book from the 40’s on how to be perfect hosts. Jeff plans to leave early to hit up a club but Abed just made the flyer up in Photoshop so Jeff would keep the night open. Nice.

Troy and Abed suggest they all play Yahtzee. As they play, the real pizza shows up and the delivery person has to be let in downstairs. Jeff rolls the dice to see who’s going to go and let the pizza guy in. He starts counting off to his left and he says if your number comes up on the die, you have to go down and get the pizza.  Abed tells Jeff he’s making six other timelines. Annie number comes up to get the pizza.

Pawnee Rangers

Valentina D. – Sr. Reviewer

Much like last season’s delightful Camping, Pawnee Rangers finds our favourite civil servants in the wilderness again, but this time, with children in tow. Ron and Leslie are the captains of two separate wilderness scout groups: the “boys only” traditional Pawnee Rangers and the female-focused Pawnee Goddesses, respectively.

While they’re spending some time with Mother Nature, Tom and Donna plan to live in the lap of luxury for the day. They decide to let Ben join them when Donna notices he’s a bit down lately. And no, it’s not because Game of Thrones was canceled. Which Ben will make sure to point out, it was not canceled.

Samantha Taggart is back in the ER! Well, sort of. Linda Cardellini (ER, Freaks and Geeks, to name a few) signs on as an ER doctor (hey, it’s a promotion, right?) in this week’s episode, whose title basically translates to “Heal Thyself”.

The NBC vet pits herself against CBS vet Adam Rothenberg (The Ex List), so if you put two-and-two together and figure that titles have something to do with the plot, you’ll see where this is going. No matter, it’s a fun ride with a powerfully subtle ending. Take this recap with a little water and if you’re feeling better, post your TwoCents in the comments below!

Stop the presses! Alert the media! Tonight’s episode had a shocking turn of events that will stun all viewers! I bet you think I am talking about the twist ending. Nope, but I’ll get to that in a bit. I am merely reporting that during the entire hour, we did not see Sam and Addison in the throes of passion. How astounded were you?

We did however have Addison in her shrink’s office, talking about “that thing” that Sam does with his tongue. Alrighty then! We also hear Addison talk about how Sam is a genuinely good and better person that she is. She thinks his generosity of spirit has rubbed off on her, seemingly because she renamed the clinic as Seaside Health And Wellness, instead of naming it after herself. I personally think it’s because she hasn’t told him about her almost-fling with Jake. What do you think?

The Vampire Diaries – Recap & Review – The Reckoning

The Reckoning

Original Air Date: Oct 13, 2011

Ky – TwoCents Reviewer

The Reckoning. In which Matt has sister issues, Stefan is WHOA, Damon and Katherine snark at each other, and Klaus incites some violence. We start with Matt working out. At night. In the school. Wearing a jacket. *side-eyes the crazy boy* Turns out, it’s senior prank night. Caroline is heading the Prank Committee, dragging along the rest of the gang as per usual.

Klaus wrecks the fun though, by cornering Elena on the wrong side of some double doors.

In the car that Damon’s only technically driving, Katherine invades his personal space something fierce and Damon tosses her back into her seat because she just doesn’t do it for him anymore. Taste of her own medicine.
