Dancing with the Stars
Week 5

Can you believe it’s already the mid-way point of the competition? Everyone better start amping up their routines because the judges will start to get really picky from this point on.

You’d never guess by all the neon lights all over the ballroom that it’s 80s night. After the mediocre movie night last week, here’s hoping 80s night isn’t as horrible as it sounds.

How I Met Your Mother
Mystery vs. History

Original Air Date: Oct 17, 2011

Caitlin – Associate Staff Writer
caitlin@thetwocentscorp.com

The age of the internet has changed dating forever. You can find your ideal match online, chat with them before meeting them, and above all- for the gang at least- research your potential partner’s potential faults.

This is mystery vs. history- being in the dark about what or whoever is in front of you, or finding out as much as possible so you won’t be caught off guard. Which wins in this episode? It’s difficult to say.

The Good Wife – Recap & Review – Feeding the Rat

The Good Wife
Feeding the Rat

Original Air Date: Oct 16, 2011

I never expected to be embarrassed by The Good Wife, but this week I was. The entire case revolved around a man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He entered a convenience store just at the time for a robbery — but the police seem to think he killed the clerk.

One simple test, which I believe is standard procedure, would have cleared this up fast. Did they test his hands for gunpowder residue? No. They found his fingerprints on a card display and think that’s enough to indict. And no one on his pro bono defense team thinks of asking for the test? I don’t buy it at all.

Charlie Day makes his hosting debut on November 5. Day currently stars in the hit FX comedy series, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” He was most recently seen in the summer blockbuster comedy “Horrible Bosses,” and will start production later this year on the highly anticipated Guillermo Del Toro movie, “Pacific Rim.”

Maroon 5 returns for their third appearance as musical guest. Maroon 5’s latest hit “Moves Like Jagger” reached the number one spot on the Top 40 and Billboard Hot 100 charts. Gym Class Heroes’ Travie McCoy will also join them to perform “Stereo Hearts.”

The Walking Dead – Recap & Review – What Lies Ahead

The Walking Dead
What Lies Ahead

Original Air Date: Oct 16, 2011

Rachel – Sr. Managing Editor

Previously on The Walking Dead, things were grim. The band of survivors found a glimmer of hope at the Centers for Disease Control but, you know, it blew up. So where do they go from here? You know my vote is they get the heck out of Atlanta. Rick finally agrees.

Before they head out, Rick tries to reach Morgan one last time on the walkie-talkie. He talks about how he is close to losing faith but can’t because the others are depending on him. He says they will be heading for Fort Benning (near Columbus, Georgia) and that Morgan should try to get there, too. He tells Morgan to stay off the roads, stay sharp, and keep moving. Hopefully, Morgan heard.

Desperate Housewives – Recap & Review – School of Hard Knocks

Desperate Housewives
School of Hard Knocks

Original Air Date: Oct 16, 2011

Annette – Associate Staff Writer
annette@thetwocentscorp.com

The housewives are desperately trying to move on with their lives but it just doesn’t seem possible for them. The messes they are in still seem to be hanging over them in one way or another.

Despite confessing to Mike and getting reassurance of his love, Susan is still having issues dealing with her part in the cover-up. Lynette and Tom are making very little headway in dealing with their relationship and although they have no interaction together, it doesn’t seem that Bree is done with Detective Vance yet.

I firmly believe the strongest aspect of Dexter is the chilling, cold tone of Michael C. Hall’s voice. He can describe anything from toy horses to blood slides and make it sound eerie, tense, and calculating, yet insanely calm at the same time. Without the sound of his voice, we’d almost certainly have to admit some things are a little dull so far this season.

I’m all for exposition episodes that explain and further the plot. But this hour was straight-up filler. So let’s get right down to it and hope next week (which looks pretty great from the previews) moves us a lot further along.

My apologies for missing last week. The show keeps getting moved back and I don’t get notified in time so I keep missing it. Thanks to former TAR recapper Rachel for having my back.

I was a bit distracted writing this review after the passing of IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Spending most of my days covering motorsports, it’s hard to sit here and worry about who gets to Phil first. But the race must go on. So with that…

How To Be A Gentleman – Recap & Review – How to Attend Your Ex-Fiancee’s Wedding

How To Be A Gentleman
How to Attend Your Ex-Fiancee’s Wedding

Original Air Date: Oct 16, 2011

Jeff L – Staff Writer

Looks like my streak of only picking shows that are quickly canceled is safe (aside from Chuck – which starts it’s final season on October 28th I’m batting a thousand.) This week’s How to Be a Gentleman was relegated (at least here in Atlanta) to the Saturday 1:05 a.m. time slot.

We find the Gentleman readying himself for a big camping trip which Drama has scheduled – part of the personal training and a way to keep the Gentleman’s mind otherwise occupied since his former fiancé is getting married.
