I’ve found that I really look forward to the glimpses of the past that start each week’s episode; they’ve been a great incentive for changing the channel on time. This week’s step back to 1983 was especially satisfying since it was about Constance and Moira. I felt bad that Constance shot Moira, since she was resisting, at least this time, but from Constance’s comment to her husband that he’d “broken” her heart “for the last time”, it wasn’t really surprising. Poor Moira was apparently just the most recent in a string of women that he’d cheated on her with. Or was she just poor Moira? Given the rest of what’s been revealed about Constance’s life, this seems like a reflection of the Harmons’ situation now. A mother absorbed in the lives and/or deaths of her children, especially with special needs involved, and a father going elsewhere for what he’s not getting from his wife. He seems more of a sleaze than Ben though. Ben at least seems to love Vivien and felt guilty. Constance’s husband only seemed to feel bad that he got caught.
A closeup on Moira and we’re back in the present, as usual, and Ben and Vivien are having a discussion I saw coming last week.
