…Andy Rooney, Journalist

Longtime CBS News commentator Andy Rooney has died following complications from minor surgery Friday. He was 92.

Rooney got his start in journalism as a writer in the Army and then spent over sixty years at CBS. In 1978 he became a weekly commentator on 60 Minutes with his “A Few Minutes With Andy Rooney,” where showed off curmudgeonly wry wit on mundane issues. He worked on the program up until October 2, 2011 – his 1,097th – when he announced that he would no longer appear regularly. “I wish I could do this forever. I can’t, though,” he said.

Rooney is survived by his four children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Farewell Andy, we will continue to miss your commentaries every week.

Nikita and Alex need to take note of the words of Mr. Oscar Wilde and dominate their emotions rather than allowing their emotions to dominate them. Both Nikita and Alex are left in detrimental situations this week because they allow their emotions to dominate them.

“A man who is master of himself can end a sorrow as easily as he can invent a pleasure. I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.” – Oscar Wilde

Just as Burn Notice was like a warm blanket on a winter’s night this week, Supernatural felt much the same way. There was a vengeful ghost, fake psychics and the brothers finally having a conversation that didn’t need to be set to weepy violin music.

Most important of all it gave me the hope I thought was lost after the end of episode two.

Fringe – Recap & Review – Novation

Fringe
Novation

Original Air Date: Nov 4, 2011

Rachel – Sr. Managing Editor

Peter is back, but with such a cool reception, he isn’t talking. Can’t say that I blame him. He had tried to be cooperative, but once Broyles put him in a cell in the Federal Building, all bets were off. The only one he’ll talk to is Walter.

Poor Walter. Meeting a guy who quite possible is your dead little boy can’t be good for the crazy. In the meeting, Peter figures out that in this reality, The Observer didn’t pull Walter and young Peter out of Reiden Lake. That place and time is where the shift happened. Peter knows that because September interfered, he became an anomaly and now he has somehow been ‘deleted.’ But why does he even exist? Before he can work through that question, Walter freaks out. He’s very scared and very angry and he does not believe that Peter is his son. That’s too bad, because Walter may be the only person that can help Peter figure out what went wrong.

After their encounter with the witch hunters last week, the Circle members are understandably tense. When Grandma Jane seems to be missing, it doesn’t take long for them to take on a road trip to the lake house to check on her. As if that wasn’t enough to keep them on edge, Cassie finds herself at the center of two broken relationships, as Diana and Adam struggle for normalcy in their break-up and Faye allows her torment over Jake to cloud her usually cool demeanor.

But with Cassie’s dark magic starting to make itself known and the witch hunters determined to take out the circle, can they remain united enough to keep themselves safe?

So I actually really liked this episode and thought it was the best one since the pilot. Now I’m not saying it was just because Margo Martindale actually had a storyline tonight, but…nope, that’s what I’m saying!

Actually, all of the story-lines tonight were particularly interesting and the fact that Rita was featured in one of them was great. So read on for the recap of tonight’s emotional outing.

Yes, in the words of Jeff: Audrey is dumb, as in, she can’t speak. This makes Jeff very happy and he lets her and everyone else know it. We also have Russ that is making Timmy do his dirty work…as usual. Finally, and the best of all, is Adam learning how his good looks is the reason he gets away with what he does.

Let’s get started ….

Patrick Jane starts out this week with a flat tire, offering his insights into the murder of a 19-year-old girl over the phone to Lisbon. She was bound and murdered somewhere else and dumped in a park picnic area with pebbles over her eyes and no sign of sexual assault. Just as Jane is telling Lisbon to trust her instincts, those instincts are confirmed. The Fresno police department has four other cases that match it. All teenage girls, all bound, all with their throats slit and all dumped in random locations with objects on their eyes.

The CBI has entered the case of the San Joaquin killer.
