The Walking Dead – Recap & Review – Chupacabra

I’m always nervous when an episode starts with flashback. What with a looming zombie apocalypse and all, I know it is not going to end well. This time around, Lori, Carl, and Shane meet Carol, Sophia, and the horrible Ed for the first time on the way to an emergency shelter. No one is really sure why there was an evacuation order, and the emergency broadcast system itself has gone down. They are stuck in traffic but, really, things look relatively calm for a mass exodus… until the military starts dropping napalm in the streets of Atlanta.

Lori wakes up, and reality returns. Hard. The horror of her dream is nothing compared to horror of her current state: pregnant with (quite possibly) another man’s child in a world where the dead walk. Not one thing about that is good.

So Ben had Mike dispose of the body last week – which is now buried under the foundation of a house. This should be pretty well hidden, so everyone should be in the clear now, right? Or not. Everyone seems to have forgotten about the fact that someone wrote them a note saying they know what they did. Body or no body, that could be a problem.

But all is well on Wisteria Lane on a very peaceful night. Until Bree hears a noise that startles her awake…

I’m going to go out on a limb and declare this as one of the most disappointing hours of Dexter ever. The season has been uneven at best, but tonight was just so off the wall and out of character, that I found myself watching the clock the entire hour.

I understand that we’ve been watching Dexter grapple with issues bigger than himself, but this was so hokey and actually boring that if I wasn’t watching for you, I probably would’ve skipped it all together. Let’s run down the events and then you can head to the comments and let me know if you agree or disagree.

Last week we saw a team get eliminated for not reading a clue. This week, a team is still sitting in one country while the others are already getting clues in another thanks to … not reading the clue! See a pattern here? The number one rule of the race is to READ THE CLUE. If you don’t, you won’t win. Plain and simple.

Thanks to the misuse of the Double U-Turn last week, we get to see it again this week when it comes into play (it gets U-G-L-Y) and watch teams get lost, get stuck in traffic and oh yah, run the race.

So, with that, I give you the top six things I learned from The Amazing Race – Season 19

Saturday Night Live – Recap & Review – Emma Stone

Saturday Night Live
Emma Stone

Original Air Date: Nov 12, 2011

Len – Two Cents Reviewer

I’ll say one thing for Emma Stone tonight – she came ready to play. The soon-to-be Gwen Stacy made her second SNL hosting appearance in as many years, and I felt she really stepped it up from last season. You might recall last October when she played a disinterested contest winner, a teen accused of “souping”, and Lindsay Lohan (who may have been the originator of souping). A decent enough performance overall, but all her characters were essentially Emma Stone playing Emma Stone.

This time out, I’m happy to say the writers gave her a bit more to chew on, which she seemed to relish. Whether she was playing a Southern Miss America or a creepy old man, her characters were distinct and I thought she turned in a solid performance.

As for the rest of the show, well……it’s kind of backloaded this week. The best moments, in my opinion, come from the newer, end-of-show sketches and not the opening, recurring ones. Let’s score it, shall we?

In the end, it’s all about family. All about loving it, forgiving it, creating it, protecting it… Whether blood-related or not, family is home, and home? Home is something we should look after for it’s all we have in this world.

During this episode you will cry, you will laugh, you will cry and laugh at the same time… you will smile at your screen in that way that makes you feel silly inside. It’s just fiction, you tell yourself… but then words become images and images become memories and memories become you…

Grab a pack of tissues, some chocolate and a mug of warm tea. Cozy? Let’s do this.

Supernatural – Recap & Review – Season 7, Time for a Wedding

Supernatural
Season 7, Time for a Wedding

Original Air Date: Nov 11, 2011

Anne – Associate Editor
anne@thetwocentscorp.com

There is nothing I like more than Supernatural when it’s meta! Hi, I’m Anne and I’ll be filling in for Alyssa from time to time. I am so excited to review this episode. It was the best of the humor and tongue-in-cheek humor that Jensen and Jared are capable of producing. The only thing missing was Bobby incarnate. But I’ll take having him on the other end of the phone if it means we can get guest star hunters like DJ Qualls every now and again. Just a little of a history lesson to catch everyone up, do you all remember Chuck? The writer of the Supernatural books? And Becky, his biggest fan and girlfriend? Chuck has a straight connection to the Powers That Be and writes down all of what we see on the shows. Meta, meta, meta!

We open on Dean in a strip joint in Vegas. No surprise there, right? He’s talking up a hot blonde and complains about Sam (his “friend’s” brother) being on a “hippy hike.” Then he gets a text from Sam…from four blocks away. At a wedding chapel.
