WOW! JUST WOW! That is all I have to say about last night’s The Closer! I have to say that in my opinion this was the best episode this season.

The show starts off by shocking us with the return of Reggie Moses, the guy that was connected in all of this Terrell Baylor business. Baylor got to walk away free but of course he died and Moses is sitting in prison.

The Doctor has been known to get into some absurd situations, but thankfully he is usually able to get out of them, often with a little help. Madge Arwell helps the Doctor when he crashes to Earth in a back to front spacesuit, so the Doctor tries to return the favor three years later, during the Blitz. Mr. Arwell’s plane went missing over water, and Madge still hasn’t told her two children.

The Doctor, aka The Caretaker, vows to take care of them all as they have been evacuated over Christmas. Unfortunately, her son Cyril can’t wait to open his present, and he crawls through to an unfamiliar world.

Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman back to ruin Christmas.

The Omen virus, Chuck allowed to be unleashed last week in order to save his family, is wreaking havoc across the world. It’s filled the Spy More with angry customers demanding the Nerd Herd fix their malfunctioning devices, it’s shut down computers across the world including the one running the maximum-security cell where Superman was being held.

Dear TV Claus … From KP

Hi gang! Happy Holidays to you all! For the month of December, the crew here at TheTwoCents.com will be writing our letters to TV Claus. A powerful being who transcends all beliefs to bring us the wonderment of good television. You’ll see a new letter to TV Claus almost daily here and we hope you’ll chime in your TwoCents to TV Claus too!

Mr. Claus, we meet again, a mere hours before that gift-giving cousin of yours takes flight. I like to think I’m a nice guy, and that we don’t always finish last. So, with that in mind, I offer up a few wishes to you. Keep an open mind sir.

– Stop making shows that ‘feel like’ something else. We have Mad Men, did we need Pan Am and Playboy Club?

Workin It – why? Make bad comedies go away. Send Man Up! and Whitney with it.

– Steve Carell was a genius as Michael Scott on The Office. Have the writers give Andy Bernard story lines that don’t seem they were left over for Michael Scott.

Glee’s Cut “Santa Baby” Performance

The people behind Glee made a big deal of Santana’s version of “Santa Baby” and then cut it from their Christmas episode this year. Now it’s been released to the public. Wish I had the Marketing Department at Glee working for us here at TTC, they’re geniuses.

Dear TV Claus … From Len

Dear TV Claus,

I have been a very good reviewer this year. As such, I demand payment. This year, I wish for the following:

– An end to laugh-track comedy. Was Fred Armisen’s ‘Fericito’ character right? Do audiences really need to be told when to laugh? The laugh track is like the push-up bra, fake eyelashes, and hair extensions – if you take it away, the result doesn’t look quite so good. Let’s take laugh tracks away from sitcoms and see how they fare.

– Please fix BBC America. There is so much quality British programming from the last decade or so, yet all they give us is more Top Gear and Gordon Ramsay than we can stomach. Would it hurt to put The Young Ones back on TV? Or Spaced? Or Fortysomething?

– Please allow The Simpsons to stay relevant. I’ve watched a few episodes here and there, and the quality has improved compared to much of the last decade. The Simpsons has been a part of my life since I was 11 years old. I shudder to think what life would feel like without it.

Dear TV Claus … From Dennis

Dear TV Claus,

1) Can you please make sure Community & Cougar Town get fourth seasons? They’re 2 of the funniest shows on TV and the Fall 2012 season, and just TV in general, would be a sad unhappy place without them.

2) I know The Vampire Diaries is the number 1 show on The CW but 3 million viewers isn’t enough. More people need to watch the fast paced craziness that is this show. Oh, and can Katherine Pierce never be killed off please? I need assurance, TV Claus.

3) Can you make sure people watch Revenge next year. I need at least 1 more season of Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke getting REVENGE!

And the award goes to… The X Factor for the results show with the most filler ever. With two hours to fill, this show had clips, guest performers, the final 12 making a comeback, more clips, performances from the Final 3 as a group, as individuals and as duets. And, of course, more clips.

A lot to take in when all we want to here is “The winner is….”

American Horror Story – Recap & Review – Afterbirth

Afterbirth

Original Air Date: Dec 21, 2011

Kym – TwoCents Reviewer
kym@thetwocentscorp.com

First, as we say goodbye to American Horror Story until next fall, let’s congratulate it on it’s Golden Globe nomination for Best Drama and Jessica Lange on her Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations. She IS the woman you love to hate.

That said, we start this weeks episode a mere 9 months ago, in Boston, with Vivien about to leave Ben and move to Florida. It’s his excitement about, and near obsession with the ad for the house online that ultimately must have swayed her to try again. He describes it as if the house literally reached out to him and drew him towards it. The happiness and hope he felt then is a well-done juxtaposition for what follows.
