In a nod to both Angel and Dark Angel, this week’s episode focuses on Amazons. No, not the Wonder Woman kind but the sort that likes to lop off their mate’s hands and feet. A slew of killings bring the Winchesters to Seattle, where Dean’s one night stand with Aunt Jenna adds a new layer of emotional baggage.

“We shall see the crumbs of bread…and they will show us our way home again.”

Portland has unexpectedly become a haven for runaways. It’s the Grimm effect and as Hank astutely observed – this town is definitely getting weirder. Sudden influx of homeless children and selling human organs has become the norm. Welcome to Portland, Grimm – N.R. (Nick’s Regime).

It’s been a long 3 weeks without A Gifted Man on our television screens, hasn’t it? I feel like it hasn’t been on in months! When we last left the show, E-Mo dropped a big bombshell and confided in Michael that he might have Huntington’s disease. This week, we finally find out if he has Huntington’s.

So how does E-Mo react to the results? And what other cases is Michael handling this week? Read on for tonight’s recap.

TwoCents & FiveQuestions with Brian d’Arcy James (SMASH)

photo: nbc

Unless you’ve been under a rock or stuck in a ditch (in which case I hope you’re doing better now), you’ve seen promos or the sneak-peek first episode of NBC’s new drama SMASH, premiering this Monday, February 6, on NBC. SMASH is a close-up look at all the glitz and glamour of a Broadway production – and all the deviousness and dirt that often go into making one. Not only are celebs knocking down the door to be part of it (the show’s producers have said they’ve tapped Nick Jonas and Bernadette Peters for roles, and they’ve also received interest from stage legend Patti Lupone), but the show’s regular cast features a number of screen veterans (Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston) and fresh faces (Katharine McPhee, Megan Hilty). And one of the indispensable members of the cast is Brian d’Arcy James. James is no stranger to television, appearing in shows like Rescue Me and Person of Interest, but he’s made quite a mark on the stage, as he’s been nominated for Tony awards for his roles in Sweet Smell of Success and Shrek the Musical. And if that’s not enough, he’s won an Obie Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Drama Desk Award. And he’s a pretty cool guy, to boot! We caught up with him while he was promoting SMASH in Chicago and got his take on TV, the theater, and his SMASH character, Frank Houston.

TTC: Why would a fellow like you, with such a strong musical theater background, want to jump into television? Was there something specific about this project that attracted you to it?

Jane pulls up on the scene of the crime this week to find Van Pelt talking with Mr. Lu, the owner of the import/export business below the loft rented by victim Wyck Theissens. Joining Lisbon and Cho upstairs, Jane observes that the place looks like a Puritan tailor shop, at least until he discovers the secret door behind some very plain dresses that clearly don’t have feathers like the gold one found in Theissens’ mouth. Behind that door hides the product of a great deal of work by an apparently very high-end fashion designer, and a pair of very large, very bloody fabric shears.

Research into Theissens shows that he was, indeed, a pretty famous designer until about 2 years ago, when a videotape slamming the industry, and his backer at the time. A french CEO named Guy Duval. So, the questions are posed – who would kill a washed up fashion designer and why would said designer be hiding his work in a loft in Oakland?

Emergency preparedness drill. Apparently they happen quarterly – in the middle of the night. Time to stand outside dressed like the Village People while they “react” to one of the hypothetical disasters Sheldon has come up with. The next morning, as Raj and Howard are discussing his upcoming trip into space, Leonard is over-sugaring his coffee, trying desperately to stay awake, when Sheldon shows up to tell him he failed miserably and would most likely die in an actual disaster.

Ultimately, Leonard decides to go home and back to bed, refusing even to take Sheldon to the dentist that afternoon. Sheldon, of course, calls his attention to his responsibility within the roommate agreement, but Leonard holds his ground and, much to Sheldon’s surprise, invokes Clause 209.
