Well wasn’t this the cat’s meow? Castle tonight opens in 1947 New York. PI Joe Flynn is tracking down a dame. And then he sees her. She’s one keen Sheba, but she’s a Moll. It’s too dangerous. Fade out to present day, where where a treasure hunter has been killed in the very same Penny Picker Club. Among his few possessions is a diary kept by the hard boiled Flynn himself.

Stan Banks was hot on the trail of the biggest jewelry disappearance of the time – the case of the “cursed” Blue Butterfly, a necklace worth at least a million dollars – when he was shot dead. The case takes off when the team discovers that Stan was killed with the same gun that allegedly killed Joe and his dame Vera.

So this was another episode centered on Jennifer Coolidge’s character Sophie Kuchenski and I thoroughly liked it. I think the best thing the show has done thus far was hire Jennifer, not only to show off her hysterical comedic timing but to show that the show is capable of writing a character that’s not completely offensive. Tonight, the girls ask Sophie if they can work for her cleaning company to make extra money for their new website and, of course, wacky hijinks (like overflowing toilets and dead models) ensue. Read on for tonight’s recap.

Am I the only one who thought our beloved boys (and girls) were coming back last week? Imagine my disappointment to discover I had to wait a whole ‘nother week! But the day is finally here. And it looks like it’s going to be a Danno central episode, my favorite! We start on an airplane, where one dude in the back is looking shifty. He gets up to use the Lav, but it’s his seatmate who’s in cuffs. Next thing we know, the marshall guy is dead in the Lav and the prisoner is MIA.

On the island, Steve is torturing Lori with over one thousand steps up a mountain. And they are sprinting up. Holy cow. I wonder how many times they filmed this, poor guys! Lori gets a head start, and when Steve passes her she trips him. Instant karma, she trips and seriously hurts her ankle. He has to carry her back down most of the stairs. How humiliating for her and macho for him!

Saturday Night Live – Recap & Review – Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum

Paul Brittain, we hardly knew ye. This past week, the man who brought us enjoyable, unique characters like Cecil and “Sex” Ed Vincent chose to part ways with SNL to pursue other projects. It’s a shame, too. When auditioning talent, SNL asks candidates to show impersonations and original characters. But then they hardly ever use these original characters. Could they seriously never have done a “Sex” Ed Vincent live sketch?

Anyway, after tonight’s bomb scare of an episode, you can barely argue with Brittain’s decision. Channing Tatum, known more for his looks than his acting ability, did only four things: Impersonate a celebrity, dance, expose his chest, and play Channing Tatum wearing a costume.

The thought crossed my mind of not reviewing this one at all, as it might just knock Ben Stiller’s episode from the pedestal of worst episode of the year. Because I have to, let’s take a look at the sketch-by-sketch. Post your TwoCents in the comments at the end! I like hearing from you!

The episode starts with a game of baccarat between a severe looking fat cat and a smug young man. The man isn’t alone though, he has a female accomplice. It looks as though they’re scamming the casino in some way, but they meet a grisly fate. The man is still missing, but the woman is found dead, with a fake FBI badge and a fake gun on her. What will the CSI team make of that?

Desperate to be the King he feels his father was, Arthur is driven to prove his strength by an act so out of character and so lacking in foresight he puts the whole of Camelot at risk of war.

Can Merlin reverse the damage caused by Agravaine’s poor , advice, or has Arthur irreparably damaged the future he was destined to bring about?

With the Superbowl coming up this weekend, I found it totally appropriate the Reagan’s family dinner end with the gang watching a Jets game (J-E-T-S … JETS JETS JETS!), made even more ironic by the fact that Bridget Moynahan (Erin) is Tom Brady’s baby mama. It would have been better had they been watching the actual Superbowl (they can make that stuff up…), but I understand for accuracy purposes, they’re trying to keep it real. Although, the Jets haven’t played in a while, so…

I digress. This week had two distinct stories: Frank dealing with his past (specifically memories of 9/11) when an old friend is on his deathbed and Danny dealing with his family nearly getting killed. He makes it his personal business to find the gunman, even though Linda asks him to take himself off the case. Which is more important? The job or his family?

Sweet little AltAstrid has a problem and she doesn’t know where to turn. Perhaps our Astrid can help, but she’d have to cross over. Good thing AltAstrid is the one in charge of all clearance and universe travel authorizations. Broyles never thought she’d use her power to sneak over on her own, what with the Aspergers and all. But desperate times call for desperate measures. She crosses the bridge and heads for the lab at Harvard.

Meanwhile, a poor guy gets word that he has cancer. The doctor says he has a 95% survival rate, but he’s still feeling a little blue, On his way home, a stranger approaches him to inform him that he is actually the 5% and the next few years of his life are going to be painful and miserable and will result in his death. The stranger takes a blue rod (hey, that looks like and Observer tool) out of his pocket and next thing we know, the stranger is gone and the man with the new diagnosis is dead.
