ABC has been hyping this two us as the “seasonal two-parter”. I am anxious for this for different reasons because two part episodes are intense and awesome but the first one always ends with a cliffhanger. This part one opens outside a window, the noise of a fight going on. Suddenly, a man flies out of the window and lands on a car below, dead.

He’s a veritable Rasputin in that he’s been chocked, shot, and stabbed before being pushed. Lanie – and her new intern, Alexis! – take the body to the morgue, but it is soon spirited away. Thomas Gage, the suspect, also disappears. Security cameras track him stealing a police uniform and hacking the police database for the name of a woman. Unfortunately, when Castle and Beckett arrive, she is dead. And as they canvas the house, they are kidnapped. When the sacks are removed, they find themselves descending into a basement that turns out to be CIA headquarters.

The Drunk Train

It is, of course, time for the gang to celebrate Valentine’s Day. What does that mean? For one thing, it means Barney and Ted hanging out with drunk people on the last train of the night to Long Island.

It does also involve some more traditional themes: double dates, flirting with the potential for more…and perhaps some things you might not expect, and that eventually lead to the departure of a guest star.

We’re back to prisoners of the week. Guards can be boring, especially if they don’t kill. That’s why we get blown-up limbs this week. It’s to make up for the lack of body parts last week.

Meet Paxton Petty. He was sentenced to Alcatraz for planting landmines in San Francisco. The warden wants to know other bomb locations but Paxton isn’t giving it up easily. Why would he? He’s crazy, like all Alcatraz inmates – immoral souls searching for peace through revenge on the masses.

So when I read that tonight’s episode was centered on Earl having a heart attack, I was definitely a little worried and apprehensive. The supporting characters are definitely not the strong part of this show and I immediately thought this would probably be one of their worst episodes. Was I right? Sadly yes.

I like the show (I wouldn’t write about it every week if I I didn’t), but tonight’s outing featured too much of the show’s trademark raunchiness and not enough heart. Read on for tonight’s recap.

Lori is frantically washing a lot of blood off of her hands. An instant later we find out the blood of Steve’s, and they’re at the hospital. The Governor is coming down hard, and the proverbial sh*t is about to hit the fan. Now I’m pretty confident they aren’t going to kill off McG, but if Lori goes bye-bye I don’t think any of will be too sad.

So flashback, 18 hours, now we get to see what led to this scariness! Oh! McG is back with his old flame Kate (?). Love her. They are out at the Governor’s gala, everyone looks fancy!

We open as two of the Comic Book Men (inside Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash a comic book store owed by Kevin Smith in Red Bank, New Jersey) discuss the origin of Robin. Meet Bryan Johnson and Walt Flanagan this dynamic duo should look familiar to fans of Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse. Johnson and Flanagan are better known to Kevin Smith fans as Steve-Dave and Fanboy and hosts of the popular Tell ‘Em Steve Dave podcast.

Next, Smith introduces us to all his friends who work in or just hang around the Secret Stash. Johnson and Flanagan, Ming Chen and Michael Zapcic. The Comic Book Men discuss their first comic book crushes Catwoman, Zatana, etc. The humor here stems from the ball-busting nature of long-time friendship and fans of the podcast will find that the humor hasn’t lost any of its teeth on cable television – although those teeth might be filed down a bit.

Monsters have hearts too. They may be ignorant of its presence but it exists; dormant, waiting to be discovered and awaken. If it’s roused, how will the monster react? Will the monster acknowledge its heart or will it be shunned? Fortunately for us, our monster rejected his heart.

In Fairytale, Belle strikes a deal with Rumpelstiltskin: she will go with Rumpel forever in exchange for keeping her village, family and friends safe from the Ogre Wars. Beauty and the Beast indeed.

The Walking Dead

Episode 8 picks up right after one of the most devastating events in television history. I am not exaggerating. I have nightmares of Sophia staggering out of that barn. And if we have learned anything from the Scream franchise, that quiet after the chaos is very dangerous. Double-tap, people, double-tap. Beth, Hershel’s second daughter goes to her mother’s body… but that walker wasn’t quite dead. The group comes together to save Beth, and I have a feeling it’s the last time they work as a team.

As the family heads back to the farmhouse, Hershel declares that Rick’s group is to be off the property post-haste. Everyone deals with the grief and shock in their own ways. Rick and Shane have a few heated words (“You’re just as delusional as Hershel!’), Andrea starts making preparations for a funeral service (“We bury the ones we love and burn the rest.”), Carl turns into an unfeeling robot (“I’d have shot her, too.”), and Glenn tests his relationship with Maggie (“Maybe it’s for the best… now we can move on”).

Love is in the air. And with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, love is alive and well (for the most part) on Wisteria Lane.

Love can also be complicated though, and it wouldn’t be Wisteria Lane if there weren’t complications. And a surprise visitor or two…

Team Breakdown: Team Random Encounter – They met on craigslist. Enough said. Team Ex Factor – they are exes who can’t be together anymore. But it’s clearly not over. And they have a rap. Team IQ – They’re Chinese and think everyone is going to underestimate them. I think they’re wrong. Team GI Joe/Jane – They’re military, which frankly I think is a huge advantage. Team Last Minute Breakup, they broke up THREE DAYS before filming. But they seems okay. Wait, why are there five teams?

Okay! On to the first challenge. The Scare Challenge:They strap one of them to the bottom of a helicoptor. The second person has to untie them and drop them on a box to grab a flag. Easy right?
