Love (or what passes for love at McKinley High) is in the air! This episode worked in some places, while at time it just seemed to give Ryan Murphy & Co a chance to peddle out the soap box. The Hudson-Hummel-Berry clan are forced to deal with Finchel, Brittana has to deal with double standards, a teenage Jesus makes his debut, while Kurt finds himself face-to-face with an unexpected secret admirer.

Also Beaver from Greek makes a cameo at Breadstix!

Last week on Justified we had a new idea that we had to see come forth, and none of the old ones that we are still waiting on, have received answers.

Let us see if there is anything that we can answer with this week!

Parenthood – Recap & Review – Tough Love

Parenthood
Tough Love

Original Air Date: Feb 14, 2012

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million times over, Parenthood does small moments better than any show on television. At the end of the hour, all one actor did was pause and swallow, but it reflected a myriad of emotions before he even uttered a word. And, wow, did it make me reach for the Kleenex.

What I love best about the show is that it brings its characters together organically. Nothing, even the hopefully almost over adoption arc, feels forced. The Braverman family members know who they are, and from Amber’s bad decisions to Drew’s awkwardness to Kristina’s maternal instincts, every action feels true to those character’s motivations. So let’s cover what happened…

One of the best opening montages ever. Burt and Virginia are looking for a hobby to do together. Hilarious. Their hobby appears to be helping Jimmy get Sabrina though. He’s such a wuss! So Virginia decides to force his hand a little, she calls Sabrina and tells her in a roundabout way that Jimmy has a new girlfriend. Virginia convinces Jimmy that having another girl will make him more desirable. And it totally works.

Now Sabrina wants to have a double date, she’s seriously jealous. Barney and Frank decide to help Jimmy.

New Girl – Recap & Review – Valentine’s Day

Who cares what this episode is about, Ryan Kwanten is in it! Jess is being a total bummer about V-Day (what happened to Justin Long, I forget them breaking up). Jess and Schmidt have a random hookup plan. Winston is having a first date, but with an old flame. And Nick and Julia have a full V-Day plan.

All of these things are bound to go well. I mean things always go according to plan right? *snort*

Switched At Birth – Recap & Review – Protect Me From What I Want

Switched At Birth
Protect Me From What I Want

This week’s episode is all about expectations. And just like everybody else’s expectations, they may not always come to fruition or happen the way you expect. From new dreams to new friendships to new opportunities, all of characters are poised to accept some difficult and surprising truths.

Despite airing on Valentine’s Day, romance was not at the front and center, but it was at the end of the hour. I’ve put on my silencing headphones to write this, because I am sure a million fans just went “SQUEEEEEE!” at the end of tonight’s episode. To find out why, in case, you missed it, keep reading.

SMASH – Recap & Review – The Callback

SMASH
The Callback

Original Air Date: Feb 13, 2012

Lauren A – Senior Reviewer

Just like any new relationship, a freshman series holds a certain air of mystery. With so many new things to discover, and no way to know quite what to expect, some twists and turns will inevitably surprise you.

The Callback certainly surprised. Things are up, down, and every which way for Ivy and Karen as they battle it out for the role of Marilyn. Several other characters are in for a ride as well – particularly Julia, as she comes to terms with what the show means for her family’s adoption process; and Derek, who lays one show to rest and finds the time to, well, not rest with one Marilyn hopeful. And shockingly, after a million promos teasing the decision over who will play Marilyn, by episode’s end we find that one lucky girl does indeed land the part.

First things first: there’s a new opening. No, the creepy music isn’t gone, but there is a new creepy transition from hippy Walden to clean-shaven Walden. Because seriously, the opening wasn’t bad enough before? Come on guys, get it together!

Last week we had the pleasure of meeting Zoey’s ex. Although brief, we got a glimpse of how unpleasant he is. This week, we hear a little bit (very little) more about him while Lyndsey and Zoey are trapped inside the house during a storm. And Walden and Alan brave a sinkhole? Yes, it all happens…

House – Recap & Review – Chase

Chase wakes up with a woman next to him who says he’s bleeding through his bandage. She suggests he call a doctor and he responds with “I am a doctor”. She didn’t know because they didn’t do much talking the night before. Ahem. She asks him about his injury and he blows it off saying he was stabbed by a patient and that’ll teach him to overbill. Then he pops some pills in the same way House does.

House shows up at Chase’s door. House wants to know when Chase is coming back to work. Chase tells him he doesn’t know when or if he’s coming back and shuts the door in House’s face. It’s clear Chase is still angry with House.

Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead. Benjamin Franklin’s wise words take on a whole new meaning in this episode as Zoe finds herself forced to keep Lavon’s secret, and Wade convinces Lemon to partake in what is essentially a new favourite bromantic escapade.
