Yet another excellent episode from what for me has seemed the best season yet! This time Gaius is the target, which makes things interesting. Few times have we seen him outside of Camelot, and fewer in direct danger because of it. Now Morgana and Agravaine have him in their sights!

They’re not looking to harm him per se, just a fortunate side-effect of their search for the identity of Emrys. Will the old doctor be able to keep his secret, or is Merlin about to be outed?

The previews for tonight’s episode had me all kinds of excited last week. With the mayor and Frank’s history, the NYPD arresting his daughter surely wasn’t going to go over well.

But when I saw the description of the episode, I got even more excited: “When a man’s family is beaten and robbed in front of him, the Reagans debate how far they would go to protect the ones they love.” The Reagan family is known for protecting each other so I had high hopes for this episode.

Demons I get, people are crazy. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this famous Deanism before, but it bears repeating after this episode. In some ways this episode managed to capture some of the intensity that threaded throughout the ol’ Kripke days. In fact it even presented a novel way to examine the reality of the hunt – that sometimes good people get hurt by the good guys, whether Dean and Sam like it or not.

An old demonic foe rears its head again from back in the day and put both Dean and Sam to the test.

Last week, a woman took over Clinica Sanando and shot Anton in the process. This week, a pop star whose star has fallen has Michael puzzled. Does she have a disease, or is all of it in her head? Also, a girl and her mother share some of the same symptoms as the pop star and have the doctors of Clinica Sanando guessing as well.

So do these three patients know each other and have the same illness? Yes. Oops, I ruined the twist. But don’t you guys want to know how this twist pans out? Of course you do! Read on for tonight’s recap.

The Vampire Diaries – Recap & Review – All My Children

All My Children.  Wherein Elena is angry at Damon (go figure), the brothers bond a bit, and Esther sets out to murder her family.  Just a normal day in Mystic Falls.

I’m not sure if we’ve established this or not, but Elena obviously has absolutely no clue what she’s doing to/with these brothers.  She calls Stefan, gets no answer, calls Damon, and doesn’t get the answer she wants.  She broke his heart for the…thousandth or so time last episode and now she’s catty when he’s grumpy at her.

Erica Flynn is back. It seems she knew the victim, Natalie Gibecki and who she was seeing before she was straggled and left outside a BART station in San Francisco. No magic to Jane’s analysis at this scene either, Lisbon should have caught that she was at least going out to paint the town, not to a movie with friends. Those were some pretty impressive spike heels in her bag, and she was looking pretty hot. You just don’t dress like that just to go out with friends.

There’s a catch to Flynn’s help though – she wants a furlough…

Professor Rothman has been forced into retirement because he “snapped”. Apparently it happens to theoretical physicists all the time. The guys wonder how long Sheldon has – as he throws away an entire tray of shrimp because they’re all the same size, leaving no logical order to eat them in. With Rothman’s retirement a corner office becomes available – and both Sheldon and Kripke want it. The administration doesn’t care – they don’t really want to deal with either one of them – so they have to resolve it themselves.

But first, let’s talk about the painting….

This seems to be the year for the judges to break everyone’s heart. How many contestants have they told they were incredible, only to cut them before the semi-finals? Or promise them “You know you’re going to be a star, don’t you?” before lowering the axe (bye-bye Johnny Keyser!).

The 70 remaining contestants rode by bus (what— too cheap for a plane ticket?) to Sin City. There they had to perform a song from the ‘50s or ‘60s in a group of two to five. Then they sang the number — complete with matching outfits, harmony, choreography and the back up band — on the Viva Elvis stage at the Aria resort.

As you may guess from the title of this episode, it features the return of the much-maligned John Blackwell, who everyone thought died in the boat fire 16 years ago. He’s not as frightening looking as I imagined, but looks are deceiving! I mean, Jake is completely yummy and he was there to kill everyone!

So what does the return of the great and super evil John Blackwell mean for Cassie and the rest of the Chance Harbor group?
