Now that the workshop is over, the Smashies are all in a tizzy wondering what will become of the show. Ivy is (shocker!) insecure about her grasp on the lead role, Tom and Julia are itching for news, and Ellis is trying to make a place for himself in every little rat hole he can dig up.

The biggest surprise is Eileen and Derek taking matters into their own hands – and recruiting Karen’s help.

A bomb exploding in the middle of an occupy protest sets the opening for a sure to be dramatic episode. Uniquely, the victims of the explosion were not targeted for any specific reason. The FBI is working the big picture, but the 12th has an important task. Owing to evidence from a photo of the supposed bomb origin, they are tasked to reconstruct the short time frame before the bomb went off.

A daunting number of people have to be interviewed – but at least we get to see West Side Wally again! – and as expected, no one is very helpful. Things really pick up when Beckett and Castle figure out that if they can just interview the people closest to the blast site, they might get closer. Thankfully, Iron Gates has a “damn good” friend that can help with that.

And that’s how they discover that the bomber is in the building, waiting to be interviewed.

At long last! The new season is finally here! When last we saw everyone, Peggy had brought in the first new business since Lucky Strike left Sterling Cooper Draper Price. Joan was pregnant while Greg was in Vietnam. Betty had finally moved out of the house she lived in with Don.

Oh, yes, Don. Don realized he was in love with Megan, his secretary. He proposed and they’re engaged.

Army Wives
True Colors

This week’s Army Wives was absolutely amazing! The drama is just getting better between Claudia Joy and Jackie! This week, Roxy is put under even more stress to be a good officer’s wife when the FRG leader quits and storms out of a meeting and Denise makes the suggestion that Roxy should become the leader because it will make her more respected with the other wifes.

Anyway, Claudia Joy is not happy when she sees an article made about the Clarkes that make them out to be the better couple to represent Fort Marshall other than Michael and Claudia Joy. Michael is not worried about the article and this makes Claudia Joy even more upset.

photo: amc

Last night, AMC debuted season five of “Mad Men” with a two-hour premiere, which resulted in record ratings making it the most watched episode ever from the series. From 9pm-11pm EST, the network attracted a 2.5 HH rating delivering 3.5 million viewers. This marks a +21% growth from season four’s premiere. Among the core demo of Adults 25-54, “Mad Men” delivered 1.7 million marking an increase of +17% versus the season four premiere. “Mad Men” airs on AMC Sunday nights at 10pm ET/PT.

“Almost five years ago, with a focus on distinction and quality, AMC launched “Mad Men’ as the first series in its commitment to original scripted dramatic television. ‘Mad Men’ is the only cable drama to ever win the Emmy award for outstanding drama series four years in a row and the Golden Globe for best television drama series for three years in a row. ‘Mad Men’ set the bar high and we are incredibly proud that it continues to engage audiences looking for unexpected, unconventional and uncompromising television,” said Charlie Collier, AMC’s president. “For each of the five ‘Mad Men’ seasons Matthew Weiner and his team have crafted a beautifully told story and each season a larger audience has responded; a rare accomplishment. We couldn’t be more proud of this program, the brilliant writers, cast and crew, and the entire team on each side of the camera.”

Blue Ribbon Panel

Patricia Morris Buckley – Sr. Staff Writer

I start this review with a plea: As quickly as possible, please make Matthew Perry a regular. As the chair of the Blue Ribbon Panel that Alicia is forced to join, he is cutting, gregarious and funny. In other words, this is Perry at his best.

This episode felt like a treading water week. Nothing huge happened until the very end and that was just a shocking twist, albeit a minor one.
