“Sing my precious little golden bird, sing! I have hung my golden slipper around your neck.”

Going on vacation is supposed to be fun and relaxing – unless you go camping, that’s torture. I’m a city girl, I know. That’s why Nick’s rental cabin/house-of-giant-logs is the perfect mixture of vacation/torture! Good choice or bad idea for a proposal site?

Nick is going away on a romantic weekend with Juliette. He hopes it will end with her as his fiancée. He chose a place called Whispering Pines; slogan of “For the Rest of Your Life.” What does that even mean? That you’ll arrive and stay there for the rest of your life? Creepy, not romantic. Nick’s an amateur in the romance department – he should have asked Hank for advice. Hank has almost a dozen wives under his belt – exaggeration, but the truth.

Blue Bloods – Recap & Review – Some Kind of Hero

Blue Bloods
Some Kind of Hero

Original Air Date: Apr 6, 2012

FK – Sr. Editor
farrah@thetwocentscorp.com

Sometimes I get angry with Blue Bloods for moving stories at a slow pace. It took a whole season for the Blue Templar story to play out. But when they finally move a story, it’s worth it. This week, I know we’re in for a treat with Jamie’s undercover story when he saves a baby from a burning building, which in the non-undercover world is great. But when you’re pretending to be someone else and your face is about to be plastered on televisions, in newspapers, on the Internet … it will be devastating to your task at hand and possibly risk your life and the lives of those around you.

Elsewhere, Danny must listen to a child’s plea when his father’s suicide doesn’t sit well with him. As usual, Danny is close to the case (the child is a classmate of his son) but for this occasion, it’s a good thing.

Another week, another witness. Also, another week of personal trials and tribulations and I rather enjoyed the personal stories this week compared to the witness, but that’s just me. But let’s start with the witness.

His name is John (played by Brady Smith). He’s a pharmaceutical rep who’s really in the wrong place at the wrong time. But as the title of this episode suggests, nothing is really as it seems.

We open on a documentary about the war between the Pillow clan and the Blanket clan. It’s narrated by Keith David which is awesome. Keith narrates the rift between Abed and Troy.

Dean Pelton enlists Jeff’s help to mediate between Abed and Troy. Jeff wants to know what’s with the camera crew and Dean says they’re there to document the Guinness Book world record for pillow fort building. He needs Jeff to come settle things between Abed and Troy so they can make with the breaking of a record.

This week Audrey decides to help her cleaning lady with a medical problem, even though Jeff objects. Timmy is training for a marathon and as usual, Russ will ruin everything. All in all, this episode was an epic fail. I just didn’t find myself laughing out loud like I used to do in previous seasons. Where did the writers go?

Let me just tell you what happened and you can tell me what you thought about the episode…

The number of shows the judges have left to use their save is dwindling. They have until the Top 5. So did they use it Thursday night? Read on…

The show began with JLo’s newest music video for “Dance Again,” featuring her new lover as a back up singer. I couldn’t really concentrate on the song because she was wore skimpy negligees throughout the whole thing and that turned me off.

It’s that time of year again, when all Kabletown employees must submit a self-evaluation. Jack dreads reading them, yet claims Jenna is the only one to hand in an honest assessment. Written while she was drunk, she admits to being the worst person she knows but chooses to redo it and tosses out the paper. Jack is troubled by Pete’s unsatisfying response to the question “Where do you see yourself in five years?” and makes it his mission to help him find his ambition.

Meanwhile, the writers wage a prank war on Jenna and after they trick her with a fake phone call from “Christopher Nolan” looking to cast her in his next film (live-action Smurfs!), she’s out for revenge.

Person of Interest – Recap & Review – Flesh and Blood

Flesh and Blood

It’s rough to go through life alone. That’s why it’s always good to have a family that has your back, be it through tough financial times, personal issues, or, say, when a number of criminals are blowtorching their way into your safe house.

It’s truly a family affair this week on POI, where we got (count ‘em!) FIVE persons of interest, who just so happen to be the heads of the Five Families of NYC. You’ll recall the goal of criminal prodigy Elias is to reunite the Five Families – well he’s not talking about getting everyone together for Christmas dinner! Elias wants a streamlined, efficient criminal operation – not the infighting and turf wars that define the current zeitgeist of the NYC underworld.

While Reese sees mob casualties as addition by subtraction, Finch is concerned about the collateral damage. And when ACTUAL family members get dragged into the thick of things, there’s no chance in hell that Reese is going to stand on the sidelines.

This week is a fantastic episode that also cleared up a few things for me. But with just a few episodes left until the season finale, the ending left me wondering, “Where do we go from here?” But the answer is easy for you, Dear Reader – click the jump below, read my recap/review, leave your TwoCents in the comments, and….await…further….instructions!

Up All Night – Recap & Review – Hey Jealousy

Up All Night
Hey Jealousy

Original Air Date: Apr 5, 2012

Caitlin – Staff Writer
caitlin@thetwocentscorp.com

Up All Night is quickly nearing the end of its first season, and with dubious ratings, I have no idea whether it will be the only one. How viewers respond now and next week might make all the difference.

Luke returns this week, and he and Reagan are on a business trip together, just the two of them. Chris’s reaction to this is debatably appropriate, but at least it doesn’t take long to figure out what the title of the episode means.
