Tonight’s episode of SNL was like a cool, breezy Sunday afternoon at the lake – you can stare into the open space for hours and be satisfied, even though you’re not seeing anything truly memorable. It wasn’t a bad show by any means; it just never seemed to hit the high notes that most episodes usually reach in at least a sketch or two.

I’m told Josh Brolin hosted tonight’s episode, but I don’t have a lot of proof. He seemed criminally underused tonight, written into most sketches as interviewees. And the couple non-interview sketches he was in weren’t that funny, with one exception.

Keep in mind that, despite my overall opinion of the show, I did grant a couple of A’s this week. But they’re probably some of my weaker A’s, which I gave based more on fun factor than anything. And they also were the final two sketches of the night, so maybe my tired eyes had something to do with it. Anyhoo, click on the link and see how I scored everything. And be sure to leave your TwoCents in the comments at the end!

Fringe – Recap & Review – The Consultant

Fringe
The Consultant

Original Air Date: Apr 13, 2012

Last episode we lost one of the good guys, and Fauxlivia is determined to uncover the Fringe Division mole that led to Lincoln’s death. He has a list of 108 possible names that AltAstrid is going to look into. Faux even gives Lincoln’s parents her word that they will find who is responsible and bring them to justice. That’s a bold claim, my friend. Especially since the responsible party (Broyles) is standing right next to you. She even offers Meana a reduced sentence in exchange for revealing the name of the mole, but Meana politely declines to cooperate. In fact, she’s not worried at all because she’ll be out soon and, by the way Faux, things in the universe are about to get much worse.

Over Here, in a very uncomfortable staff meeting, a man is about to get fired by a very irate boss. You see, he and his business partner missed their morning flight because this idiot didn’t do his job. Right as the Donald Trump phrase crosses his lips, his body is thrown into the ceiling and, after a few seconds, slammed into the conference table with what appears to be every bone in his body broken. His business partner that was supposed to be on that flight, too? Yeah, he met the same fate. Could someone please call Fringe Division?

“Forgive me for the evil I have done you; my mother drove me to it; it was done against my will.”

The murder rate in Portland, Grimm is rising. It’s gotten so bad, tourists are being killed! That is a big no-no. This is worse than New York City circa 1990. Even the cops are getting in on the murder action. Just ask Captain Renard and Nick – though Nick slayed the beast but not the beauty.

Renard is part of the “Family” – an international organization that sounds powerful and dysfunctional at the same time. He’s marched off to see his foreigner “Cousin” at gun point for an impromptu meeting. They basically unzipped their pants to start measuring and it ends with Renard winning.

As we head into the latter half of the fifth and final season, it’s natural that we see the return of some faces and the appearance of new ones and the wrapping up of long-term story lines. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun in the meantime. Especially if it’s at the expense of our favorite Marshal Marshall Mann, right?

This episode had all of that and your typical witness unable to let go of their previous life. We also get an episode ending cliffhanger of sorts, so let’s get to it!

Stanley had a tonsillectomy and they got him a card. Inside it says something a mustache. Jim says he didn’t have a mustache. The staff argues about whether or not Stanley has a mustache. The mustaches have it.

Robert catches Pam watching a video on the computer. Robert goes off on them. Nellie runs in late because she kept slapping the snooze button. Robert thinks Nellie is under a lot of stress so he asks some of the guys to help her move into her apartment and then he wants to throw her a party at the end of the day. Pretty sure Robert wants to hit that if you know what I mean.

Finally, an episode I caught myself actually laughing out loud. As usual, it seems to be the Audrey /Jeff storyline, that I relate to and find more realistic, yet a bit exaggerated, to everyday life experiences. The Bingham’s are using sex to get what they want, but soon find out it is a game the woman will win every time! Jenn wants a dog and tries Audrey’s suggestion to get it.

As for Russ and Timmy, Russ claims an invention of Timmy’s as his own and tries to market it. Let’s get started….

Caitlin – Staff Writer

It’s the season finale of Up All Night! Will it also be the series finale? I still don’t like the ratings, and don’t know what it means that the episode is airing in April, not May, but I’m not discounting a second season just yet.

Regardless, this episode will need to act as one that could be the last we see. And that means significant developments. In this case, Chris and Reagan renewing their…proposals. Oh, and the return of Kevin.
