Girl Meets World Gets Series Order

The highly anticipated Boy Meets World spin-off, Girl Meets World, has been picked up to series by the Disney Channel. The series will premiere in 2014.

“Set in New York City, the new comedy series will tell the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that Boy Meets World is renowned for — only this time from a tween girl’s perspective — as the curious and bright 7th grader Riley and her quick-witted friend Maya embark on an unforgettable middle school experience. NBC has announced the 10 teams set to participate in “Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls.” The Electus and Bear Grylls Ventures produced adventure-reality competition series premieres Monday, July 8 (9-10 p.m. ET).

The show is hosted by world-renowned survivalist Bear Grylls, who will be looking for that survival spirit, resourceful skill and heart-led determination that he knows the wild demands.

HBO has renewed the news magazine series VICE for a 12-episode second season, with debut set for 2014, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming.

Knowing it could be the end of their series, SouthLAnd gave us a little bit of everything in their final season. There were stories of love, heartache, friendship, secrets and the usual chaos we’re used to. It went by quickly but it was one of the best.

The acting was the best it’s ever been and the stories were more real than ever – which is why I loved this season more than any other season. While some fans may have hated the two-part kidnapping episodes of Cooper and Lucero, it was pulled straight from the headlines. It was also fun to hate Sherman who balanced a life of being the good guy with one woman and a bad guy (and bad cop) with another. And when Sherman and Sammy finally came to blows? Golden television.

When the final episode came, and we knew there was going to be no resolution to the storylines, I didn’t get upset. I looked at it as a “Choose Your Own Adventure.” Like the final scene with Russ and Lydia on the beach as a little family … I like to imagine they got married and had more kids. I like to imagine Cooper was saved and his ex change her mind and they are happily living as best friends raising a happy baby.

I didn’t just love season five. I loved SouthLAnd. And I miss it.

IFC Renews Portlandia for Two More Seasons

IFC announced Wednesday morning that Portlandia had been renewed for not one but two more seasons.

The 10-episode Seasons 4 and 5 will premiere in early 2014 and 2015, respectively.

“Portlandia has celebrated sustainable local agriculture, underemployment, avian crafting, gender politics, intense bicycle messengers and so much more,” IFC president Jennifer Caserta said in announcing the double-dip pick-up. “We can now celebrate two more seasons.”
