Do Not Go Gentle.  Wherein Alaric makes questionable choices, Klaus can’t identify his favorite sibling, and Stefan, Damon, and Elena are on The Bachelorette, according to Caroline.

Esther-as-Rebekah waltzes into Klaus’ house with the stake in her hands.  Klaus burns the stake and agrees to go to the dance when his “sister” cajoles him into it.  Later Esther gloats over her ability to lie to her child once Other!Ric has done the same to Damon, acting as the real Ric and telling the vampire he’s going to go out of town for a bit.  Alaric stabs Rebekah’s body with the magic dagger at Esther’s behest and thus Esther is back in her own body.  Ta-da!

We’re nearing Election Day, and the Pawnee City Council candidates are finally gathered in one room for the main event: the debate. The Knope 2012 campaign has been leading up to this moment, where Leslie goes head-to-head with spoiled Sweetums heir, Bobby Newport, marking the triumphant return of Paul Rudd, who is charming in the role.

In this episode, written and directed by Amy Poehler, Leslie and her team make their rounds at the scene of the debate, while Ron, April, and Andy hold a watching party at their house for the campaign’s top financial supporters. Tom is down in the dumps since Ann dumped him, but April convinces him to drop his pseudo-swagger act to get her back. Will April’s advice work?

Ryan is upset because Smokey Robinson is dead. Ryan can’t name more than one Smokey Robinson song and Pam calls him out on not really knowing who he is. Oscar says that the Smokey death thing is really a hoax. Jim says there’s a Smokey show soon and the tickets are $250. Ryan avoids by pretending to be disgusted at the opening act and the parking costs. Yeah. It’s just boring typing that out as it was to watch.

The Senator is holding a fundraiser tonight for the local animal shelter. Robert California bought two tables for the crew for the night. Angela thinks it’s going to be a huge sell out.

Tonight is Community meets Law and Order. Chung chung! Two Greendale janitors find a murdered yam in the bio room long about midnight. This yam was Annie and Jeff’s bio project. The bio teacher agrees to give them a passing grade for effort put into the project but Annie isn’t happy with that. Bio teacher heads out because he was in the middle of watching “Mama’s Family”. I don’t blame him. That’s way funnier than a splattered yam. “Mama’s Family: Funnier Than A Splattered Yam.” I can’t believe I’m not getting paid to write this stuff.

Annie enlists Shirley to round up some suspects. She sends Abed and Troy to investigate. Oh this is going to be epic.
