Gordon Ramsay is back for his 10th season of Hell’s Kitchen. This year the winner will be the Head Chef at Gordon Ramsay Steak in Las Vegas. Will this year be the year he finally gets his first perfect dinner service on the season premiere?

18 hopefuls enter Hell’s Kitchen to see sous-chef Scott telling them to line up. He insists that 8 years ago he showed his loyalty to Chef Ramsay by shaving his head. He then tells the chefs that it is their turn as sous-chef Andi brings out the barber chair. She pulls her own wig off to reveal a freshly shaven head. The females chefs are all understandably freaking out! (I would shave my head for NO job!) Apparently, one chef, Danielle, shares my opinion, as she refuses to raise her hand. Of course, Scott calls on her, but just as the clippers get close to her hair, Chef Ramsay stops him and sends her back in line! (Luckily, Andi also didn’t shave her head, but was wearing a skull cap!)

TwoCents and Five Questions with Robert Ulrich & Zach Woodlee (The Glee Project)

season 2 cast

Robert Ulrich, Casting Director
Zach Woodlee, Choreographer

The Glee Project is a reality competition show on which young men and women can audition to win a part on the hit dramedy Glee. Last summer was the inaugural year for the show and it produced two winners, Damian, who played Rory on Glee, and Samuel, who played Joe; each for seven episodes at least. Lindsay and Alex both won two episode arcs. This year’s cast looks even more diverse. If you missed the casting special, or just want to watch it again, you can see the video here. Check out our interview with two of the shows mentors below!

TheTwoCents: How difficult is it to find a young talent that’s good at those of all three acting, dancing and singing?

Don finally, FINALLY, gets fired up about work again. Sally goes on a date, of sorts. Lane’s embezzling comes to light and comes to a resolution. Also, something that has been foreshadowed throughout the season finally comes to pass. No spoilers above the fold though!

We see something in this episode that I’d rather not see. The show has never shied away from showing us such things though

The competition is heating up as the hopefuls struggle to make a memorable and unique impression on the Network. Some have been able to skate through on the strength of their cooking, and thankfully this season we don’t have anyone who is obviously not up to it cooking-wise, but this week it’s time to start weeding out those who just don’t have the on-camera star quality.

Ted Allen guests and presents a unique Star Challenge: re-make a boring classic dish and make it Fashion Week ready. Then, present your dish on the runway!

Farewell…Richard Dawson

dawson

Richard Dawson, Actor

The original host of TV’s Family Feud and one of Hogan’s Heroes, passed away Saturday night. Richard Dawson was 79.

Dawson’s son Gary shared the sad news via Facebook, saying, “It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my father passed away this evening from complications due to esophageal cancer. He was surrounded by his family. He was an amazing talent, a loving husband, a great dad, and a doting grandfather. He will be missed but always remembered.”

Dawson is known to many for his first major TV role was the Cockney POW Cpl. Peter Newkirk on the war-themed comedy Hogan’s Heroes (1965-1971). After the show ended its run, he appeared as a panelist on I’ve Got a Secret and Match Game. It wasn’t until Family Feud came along in 1976 that he began a gig as a TV host until the show’s end in 1985. On the show he was famous for smooching female players.

Farewell…Kathryn Joosten

joosten

Kathryn Joosten, Actor

You may know her as the late nosy neighbor Karen McCluskey on Wisteria Lane, but Kathryn Joosten will always and forever be known to me as Mrs. Landingham from “The West Wing.” She passed away Friday after a long battle with lung cancer. She was 72.

Joosten won two Emmy awards for her portrayal of Mrs. McCluskey on the ABC series “Desperate Housewives” that ended its eight-year run last month. But it was her role as the President’s secretary in “The West Wing” where she really began to get noticed. She also had small roles on such shows as Scrubs, My Name Is Earl, Joan of Arcadia (Mrs. LandinGod anyone?), and Dharma & Greg.

Acting was a childhood dream in which Joosten didn’t pursuing until she was 42. Prior to acting she worked as a psychiatric nurse in a Chicago hospital.

Joosten is survived by two sons, two grandsons, and a brother.

Farewell Mrs. McClusky and Mrs. Landingham; you will be missed.

ORCHIDS: MY INTERSEX ADVENTURE

In this US TV premiere, Phoebe embarks on a road trip of discovery as an intersex person, (a group of conditions formerly termed “hermaphroditism”), with her intersex sister. Learning only in her teen years that she was born with 46XY (male) chromosomes, she documents this often shameful syndrome’s effect on her family and the stories of others affected by intersex condition.

ABC Orders Only 13 Episodes of “Private Practice” Season 6

photo: abc

According to EW, ABC has only ordered 13 episodes for the sixth season of Private Practice.

The decision by ABC for a shortened season will allow it to gamble on other series – six dramas and four comedies – it has set for the 2012-2013 season. However, there are no immediate plans to end the series for good.

As noted already earlier this week, Tim Daly will not return to the show for season six. Private Practice will air new episodes Tuesdays at 10pm in the fall.
