Last night’s episode of MasterChef really threw a curveball at our cooks. The fact that they pitched it at 3am didn’t really make it any easier. Imagine getting woken up in the middle of the night, and then expected to cook breakfast. Now imagine getting woken up in the middle of the night, and then expected to cook for hundreds of people.

The adventures of Michelle continue as she and her reluctant mother-in-law Fanny prepare to face the aftermath of Hubbell’s untimely death (and I think viewers will agree it’s jarring for him to be gone so soon!). Including the house her mother-in-law lives in (and so eclectically decorated) and the studio she teaches dance in (and from which she presumably gleans her meager living). Oh boy.

The Corleone crime family has touched millions of lives for more than four decades. From their origins in a pulp fiction novel by author Mario Puzo, the Corleones inspired one of the most important and enduring films in history. Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather not only broke box office records and earned wild popular acclaim – it actually infiltrated the American conscience.

THE GODFATHER LEGACY, a new two-hour special premiering Tuesday, July 24 at 9pm ET on HISTORY, looks at how this groundbreaking 1972 film and its two sequels transcended Hollywood, transformed the American psyche, and even influenced real-life organized crime. Michael Imperoli, known for his role as Christopher Moltisanti on The Sopranos, narrates the special.

We Just Decided To

Just to let you know upfront: I am a huge fan of Aaron Sorkin, the mastermind behind “A Few Good Men” and “The West Wing.” He is an amazing writer who creates dramas featuring smart, career-driven people with crazy flaws – the kinds of characters who are devastatingly interesting to watch.

So knowing that this creative genius is behind the new HBO drama “The Newsroom,” I couldn’t wait to see the first episode. And while I loved every minute after the opening, I had a lot of doubts after the first few minutes.

OK, Falling Skies has decided it’s going to be THAT kind of show. You know, the kind that kills off major characters. Up to now, it’s only knocked off Red Shirts (smaller characters that are there only to be killed off, a la Star Trek’s ensigns in red shirts).

Last week, everyone’s world seemed to be spinning out of control. This week, they really did go out of control, and sometimes with deadly consequences.
