First and foremost, I hope all readers had a happy and safe holiday! And just like many of us spent the day visiting people, that was the prevalent them on this new episode. Seriously, I lost count of how many times people dropped in on other people tonight unannounced.

I did however count three cowboy hats in John Ross’s apartment, so there is that! I wonder about TNT’s decision to air a new episode on the holiday, but if you missed it, I’m here to fill you in with everything that went down.

One of the trendiest things you can do in the food world right now is open up a food truck. It’s almost as trendy as cupcakes are, but unlike cupcakes, I’ve not become utterly sick of food trucks yet. Maybe it’s because food trucks present a large variety of foods, or because there are almost no food trucks where I live to get sick of. Or maybe it’s just my disgust at the cloying sweetness of most icings and frostings. Seriously, they make the roof of my mouth hurt, and I know that makes no sense to anyone but me, but they do.

But back to a trend I do like, this week’s MasterChef put our cooks onto some trucks to feed hungry beachgoers, and the losing team got thrown into hot water with a pasta battle pressure test.

Farewell…Andy Griffith

griffith

Andy Griffith, Actor

TTC is sad to announce the passing of TV icon and beloved actor Andy Griffith today. He was 86.

His death was confirmed by former UNC President Bill Friday, a close friend.

Griffith will always be known as Sheriff Andy Taylor in the ’60s sitcom “The Andy Griffith Show.” He starred on other shows and in films after the show’s end, but was able to find success again as Ben Matlock, the cantankerous defense attorney on 1980s-’90s drama “Matlock.”

You will be missed Mr. Griffith.

TwoCents and Five Questions with Piper Perabo (Covert Affairs)

perabo

Piper Perabo, Actor

Our long wait for the return of Covert Affairs is almost over and Piper Perabo was kind enough to sit and talk with the bloggers and answer some question that we have wanted to ask. Piper plays Annie Walker, a young CIA operative who is multilingual and learning the ropes as she goes. She depends on Auggie, a tech ops agent that was blinded while in Iraq. Together…they make quite a team! You may remember Piper from Coyote Ugly and Cheaper by the Dozen. The show returns one week from today (Tuesday, July 10) on the USA Network. The season looks to be off to a great start with the season 3 premiere full of action and suspense… just as I like it! Let’s get started with Piper.

TheTwoCents: Can you talk about both your character and Auggie’s character being reassigned this season?

In the heart of America, on a deadly inland sea that has claimed as many as 6000 vessels and 30,000 lives, a way of life exists that few ever witness. Men who breathe diesel fumes and watch every step they take on shifting decks. Men who battle the elements, wrestle with runaway vessels, fight fatigue and sometimes risk all in the struggle to make a living.

They are tugboat men, sailors in constant combat with the deadly storms and hazards of the Great Lakes– men who work against the clock, fighting thick ice forming in every direction under treacherous winter conditions – winds whip so fierce it could knock an entire crew off deck in the blink of an eye. A new 8-part HISTORY series,GREAT LAKE WARRIORS, premiering Thursday, July 19, 10pm ET/9C, will dive into the lives of the tough crews who call 94,000 square miles of wild blue water home.

Filling in for Patricia this week and like her, I’m a huge Sorkin fan. I found the pilot decent and was excited for what lay ahead. What we got was again decent, but I feel like we’re-what I’ve been saying for the past month-almost there. Maybe.

Last week we were introduced to a slew of characters and this week we have a few more to add to the lost, just to confuse us a bit more, but at least Will’s memorized everyone’s name. Or so he thinks.

HBO Renews The Newsroom and True Blood

photo: hbo

HBO renews freshman drama series “The Newsroom” for a second season and “True Blood” for a sixth season.

The Newsroom just aired its second episode and centers on a cable news anchor (Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), his newsroom staff (John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn) and their boss (Sam Waterston). Together they set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal relationships.

Based on the popular Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, this Emmy®-nominated hit drama series was created by Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s Emmy®-winning series “Six Feet Under.” The show follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård). The show is currently airing its fifth season.

Army Wives – Recap & Review – Tough Love

Tough Love

Well, this episode was emotional filled and this show reminds why I have loved this show from the beginning. Denise is having a tough time getting back to normal after she shot the man who would have probably killed her and Claudia Joy. It turns out this guy is a serial killer so she stopped this man from hurting anyone else. We also see what happens after Hector sleeps with another women and Gloria is clueless to this until the end of the show.

We also see the situation between David and Marcus heat up and Joan and Rowland are not happy. The emotions become stronger after Trevor meets with one of his old combat buddies that was injured in the line of duty. He was badly burned a couple of years ago and he is still suffering the effects of this traumatic injury.
