Something I’ve always enjoyed about this show is the predictably unpredictable. There’s always a resolution and sometimes you see it coming a mile away and sometimes you see it coming, but how it works out is so complicated, you were happy you didn’t see that coming. This week’s episode was a mix of the two and a quite enjoyable one at that.

Last we left Neal, Agent Collins had a gun pointed to his face. Since Matt Bomer is a series regular, nothing major would happen, right? Let’s find out!

The Closer – Recap & Review – Fool’s Gold

The Closer
Fool’s Gold

Original Air Date: Jul 16, 2012

Will – Sr. Reviewer

I know we are all sad that The Closer is ending in a few episodes but you can’t end the series without a good Flynn and Provenza episode. Flynn and Provenza are just hysterical together and they always seems to get into trouble with one another. They are like an old married couple and this week is no different. This week, Provenza’s first ex-wife shows up to the LAPD asking for help on getting her wedding ring back (from their marriage) that she sold by mail. She only got $49 for it when Provenza says it is worth $500.

Provenza asks why she did it and she says that she needs the money for Frank and his medical issues. At first, I thought Frank was a man, but it’s actually her dog who is very old and very sick. So, Provenza decides that he and Flynn should go talk to these jewelry people and get the ring back. We all know that this is not going to end well.

Karen is back … or is she? In the first few minutes of Falling Skies, Maggie and Hal discover a field of dead children who’ve had their harnesses removed. Only one is still alive — and it’s Karen, Hal’s first love.

The trouble is that Karen has been the spokesperson for the aliens. As Maggie points out, why was she discovered so close to the hospital? Is she really free of alien control? Is she a plant to discover their plans to go to Charleston? We get the answers to all those questions by the end of the episode.

Game of Thrones Confirms New Cast Members

HBO has confirmed some of the new cast members for the third season of the hit series GAME OF THRONES, with many of the actors appearing in a video that was unveiled Friday, July 13 at Comic-Con 2012.

Among the new actors and the characters they will portray are:

Diana Rigg as Lady Olenna Tyrell. Also known as “The Queen of Thorns,” Lady Olenna is the grandmother of Margaery and Loras Tyrell and is, in many ways, the true leader of their powerful family.

Mackenzie Crook as Orell. A wildling raider, Orell is a “warg” or “skinchanger,” with the ability to enter the mind of an animal and control its actions.

Now that we’ve hit the fourth episode of this new show, it’s finally starting to click. The characters are becoming individuals, the story is heating up and I’m starting to get invested. I must not be the only one because HBO has already renewed it for a second season.

This episode had several of the lines used in the ads for the show. Obviously, they thought highly of this script and it did balance the light and the urgent well.

Can I just say how much I love that they brought back the theme song “Little Boxes” and are having it performed by different artists each week? I know not everyone is on board with this homage to the show’s beginnings, but I am! I think it’s a great touch, and the drawn opening sequence showing their journey to where they are now? It’s brilliant!

So Nancy is coming home, Jill and Andy are making a go of it as a couple (at least for now), and Shane is about to bring down some justice on the boy who shot his mom. Well this can’t possibly all go wrong, right?

Breaking Bad – Recap & Review – Live Free or Die

Breaking Bad
Live Free or Die

Original Air Date: Jul 15, 2012

Jules – News Editor
jules@thetwocentscorp.com

Breaking Bad began its fifth and final season and tonight, things, they are a changing. Given the title, it seems that our “hero” may have to make the tough choice soon and maybe he has after that opening sequence where he’s got a New Hampshire driver’s license and plates and now is in the market for a high powered rifle.

Now how long into the future we don’t know yet, but we do know that he has a head of hair and a full beard and it’s his birthday. Since this show moves in slow time (it’s been maybe, what, a year since season one?). OK I just realized that the pilot was his birthday, so by this point in the future it’s two years later since Walt is turning 52 now.

But let’s move forward to the major points of what happened tonight and the aftermath of Walt blowing up Gus and the lab.

Army Wives – Recap & Review – Hello Stranger

Army Wives
Hello Stranger

Original Air Date: Jul 15, 2012

Will – Associate Staff Writer
will@thetwocentscorp.com

This week was just a flawless episode of Army Wives because we saw the return of Pamela and Chase! I have been missing Pamela so much and I know all of you have as well and it was a very refreshing hour of tv to see the old gang back together. The show starts off with a call from Pamela to Roxy inviting them to Miami where Chase is at a convention and that ends on Friday but they are going to make a weekend out of it. Roxy is all in and with a little persuasion, Trevor also says yes.

One sad point of this episode was that we learn Tanya is leaving the Army in a week to go to Virginia to get her BA in nursing. Tanya was Jeremy’s girl friend before he died in combat and Denise and Frank have taken her in as one of their own. Anyway, Gloria is running the Hump Bar for the weekend while Roxy is away in Miami and she seems excited as it will be a distraction from her marriage troubles with Hector.

True Blood – Recap & Review – Hopeless

True Blood
Hopeless

Original Air Date: Jul 15, 2012

Meg – Staff Writer

Another great week for True Blood! Tonight viewers are treated to the long-trumpeted (and frankly, overdue) return of Denis O’Hare as Russell Edgington. True to form, this development immediately ratchets up the death count, doubles the gore, and makes me one very happy reviewer.

Elsewhere in Bon Temps, Sam and Luna survive (yay?), the friendship between Tara and Jess that was such an unexpected delight last episode dissolves over Hoyt (of all people) and Bill and Eric edge closer to the conspiracy within the vampire Authority.

It’s time for all the hard work to shine through as the hopefuls face their final challenges: film a promo that’s good enough to get their pilot, which needs to be good enough to get America to vote for them! They’ve tweaked and honed their show ideas, or POV, and their delivery styles, and their Mentors have given them all the advice they can.

Last week I predicted that the three getting a pilot would be Martie, Yvan, and Michele. So was I right? Were your picks there? And whose pilot surprised me?
