“The master understands that the universe is forever out of control.” Lao Tzu

Things certainly do get out of control this week too. We open with Ryan on the beach with Jenna discussing her problems with a viral video called “Squishy Tits” (which is available on YouTube if you missed it) and an awkward meeting between her and Amanda. This leaves Ryan determined to make sure they like each other, in spite of Wilfred’s warning that you can’t control how your friends will feel about each other and the sad fate of “Rex” and “Lady”. And so, the dinner party is planned and I have to ask here, do people really have dinner parties anymore? Most people I know do get together for dinner now and then, but not usually all dressed up and neatly paired into couples, unless I just haven’t been invited.

It’s Big Brother on the rocks this week, as one player is evicted as scheduled, one player exits the game prematurely, and Shane mixes things up in the house.

Add to that an America’s Vote twist for the coaches and a few showmance moments, and there’s your week. Read on to find out if a coach traded one of their players, who left the BB house with (relative) class… and who didn’t.

Farewell…Lupe Ontiveros

Lupe Ontiveros, Actor

TheTwoCents is sad to announce the passing of Lupe Ontiveros after a battle with liver cancer. She was 69.

The actress had roles on the big and small screen. For TV fans, she’s probably most recognized as Juanita Solis, the mother-in-law of Eva Longoria’s character Gabrielle on Desperate Housewives for which she earned an Emmy nomination in 2004 for guest actress in a comedy series. On the big screen, she’s best known for her role in the 1997 film Selena.

Ontiveros also had guest roles on series such as Veronica’s Closet, Hill Street Blues, Who’s the Boss, King of the Hill, Rob and many others.

Ontiveros is survived by her husband and three adult children.

TwoCents and Five Questions with James Wolk (Political Animals)

what is he up to?

James Wolk, Actor

James Wolk didn’t have much luck in his last television series outing; Lone Star was canceled after only two airings. He did follow that up with successful recurring roles as Adam on Showtime’s Shameless and as Max’s perfect boyfriend, Grant on ABC’s Happy Endings. We all miss Grant. But this summer, James has found great success in USA’s six episode miniseries, Political Animals.

We’re only two episodes in and the show is already getting critical acclaim. With stars like Wolk, Sigourney Weaver, Sebastian Stan, Ellen Burstyn, Carla Gugino and Ciarán Hinds, there should be no surprise. It’s full of political intrigue and family secrets and it’s a lot of fun to watch! I had the chance to participate in a conference call with James and I jumped at it. Here are some of his thoughts.

Olympic Viewing Guide – Friday, July 27

Every day during the London Olympics, TheTwoCents will be posting viewing options of the games, including the main event of the day and an event that might otherwise be off your radar, and also something to watch if you get tired of the five-ring Olympic circus. It may not be your top choices of the day, but it’ll be what we are most looking forward to.

Main Event
Opening Ceremonies, 7:30 ET, NBC

The Opening Ceremonies are always long on pageantry and theater. Watching the athletes parade in can be fun — guess which nation is next alphabetically! Can the commentator pronounce the name of the person carrying the flag of a given nation? There’s also some performances — don’t be surprised to see Sir Paul McCartney. The ceremony culminates with the lighting of the Olympic Torch.

Gandhi said that violent means will give violent freedom, and this is one lesson that Team Westen has had consistently shoved down their throats. This time freedom for Fiona and Michael leaves its mark and the ramifications could be catastrophic.

We get to see a Hollywood-tized make-believe Atlantic City. I’ve chillaxed, buffeted, and seen many American Idol concerts (don’t judge) in Atlantic City and trust me, it’s grimy. There’s no glitz or glamor and definitely no big shots walking around in tuxedoes. The best thing about AC is the outlet mall and you have to pass a methadone clinic to get to the shops!

I wish I can see the disappointed faces when tourists discover AC is the poor man’s version of Las Vegas. Those faces can keep me warm through the winter…am I freaking you out? Sorry, this is how I act when I’m stressed. Work, life, and the crazy derecho outside are giving me anxiety. At least I don’t gamble away million dollar companies when I’m stressed – can’t say the same for the case of the week and Harvey. But I will say, if I had access to million dollar companies, I wouldn’t be gambling in AC.
