Olympic Viewing Guide – Thursday, August 9

Every day during the London Olympics, TheTwoCents will be posting viewing options of the games, including the main event of the day and an event that might otherwise be off your radar, and also something to watch if you get tired of the five-ring Olympic circus. It may not be your top choices of the day, but it’ll be what we are most looking forward to.

Main Event
Men’s Decathlon and Men’s 200-Meter Dash, 8PM ET, NBC

This is the second day of the decathlon, which is 10 events held over two days. American Ashton Eaton set a new world record less than two months ago at the US Olympic Trials. Can he that level of performance and win a gold medal? Also: More Usain Bolt. The 200-meters is actually his better event. Enjoy the dominance and the peak of human physical evolution.

Design Star All Stars – Recap & Review – Condo

Design Star All Stars
Condo

Original Air Date: Aug 7, 2012

Patricia Morris Buckley — Sr. Staff Writer

There’s nothing like a joint project to bring out the cattiness on Design Star. And when these contestants are all stars, well, it’s a full out catfight.

The remaining five designers are taken to Hermosa Beach where they are told they will be remodeling two rooms in the condo of dancers Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya, best known for their work on Dancing with the Stars. I really doubted this was their real home as it barely had anything it in, but this is reality TV after all – there’s rarely much reality.

The Closer – Recap & Review – Armed Response

The Closer
Armed Response

Original Air Date: Aug 6, 2012

Will – Sr. Reviewer
will@thetwocentscorp.com

I kept telling myself that I would not cry during these last few episodes of The Closer. I have been successful so far but this episode not so much. I only cried a little at the end and I know for sure next week I will cry the whole time. I just can’t believe Brenda Leigh is leaving us. I will truly miss this show that has actually inspired me throughout the years.

Anyway, this episode starts off with a gruesome murder of a security guard who is a military hero. His name was Danny Chidez and he was responding to a report of a disturbance in an abandoned house. He was shot in the face and head. Immediately I notice that Brenda is not at the scene which is very unusual. We learn that she is in Atlanta dealing with the death of her mother. Provenza has been put in charge and he seems to be doing a good job until DDA Baldwin shows up.

TwoCents and Five Question with Chris Ord & Matt Corman

Matt Corman and Chris Ord, Creators of Covert Affairs

We had the chance to talk to Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the creators of the show Covert Affairs and ask them what we can expect from season 3. So far this has turned out to be their best season yet and it seems that the key is to keep it fast paced and full of action and drama.

They see the season as Annie’s teenage years… being it filled with more questions and more passion and with all that comes greater stakes. This year will involve long arch storytelling and most of it will be trying to resolve exactly what happened to Jai.

Let’s get started.

Olympic Viewing Guide – Tuesday, August 7

It may not be your top choices of the day, but it’ll be what we are most looking forward to.

Main Event
Men’s and Women’s Gymnastics, Individual Event Finals, 8 PM NBC

The finals in men’s parallel bars and horizontal bar and women’s balance beam and floor exercise. I’m sure it will be run-of-the-mill and boring because there hasn’t been any drama in gymnastics yet.

True Blood – Recap & Review – Everybody Wants to Rule the World

True Blood
Everybody Wants to Rule the World

Original Air Date: Aug 6, 2012

Meg – Staff Writer
meg@thetwocentscorp.com

We have an interesting role reversal tonight, as Bill continues to drink the vampire supremacy kool-aid, while Eric proves to be the only sane (un)person in town. Lafayette gets some of the best lines of the series while trying to help Sookie solve the murder of her parents.

Meanwhile, Alcide goes home and introduces us to yet another tertiary character (but he’s played by Robert Patrick, so it’s okay!) and Andy and Jason finally figure out who has been murdering all their supernatural friends.

Army Wives
Centennial

Original Air Date: Aug 5, 2012

Will – Associate Staff Writer
will@thetwocentscorp.com

After a break from Army Wives last week, we all have been anticipating the return and we, the viewers, were not left disappointed! If you remember, Penny showed up at Gloria and Hector’s apartment at the end of the last episode and Gloria was not happy. She is even more angry when she sees that Penny is very pregnant and claims Hector is the father. Of course, Hector thinks nothing his is fought and says that he is not the father. Well Gloria is going to make sure of that by making him take a paternity test.

We also get to see the birth of Roxy and Trevor’s twins. After a few complications throughout the pregnancy, Roxy experiences another complication. The first baby is delivered successfully and it is a he! Before they can deliver the second baby, the doctor finds that the heart rate of the second baby is dropping.
