Week Five

We now know next Thursday is the official Fast Forward, but I sure wish we could have fast forwarded through this week of Big Brother instead. Even though Chilltown, Jr. has the power, it’s still the coaches pulling all the strings. Frank is HOH, but Boogie is set on keeping some power players in the game and continuing to pick off Janelle’s team now that she’s out of the house.

Sadly, the Zingbot 3000 may be the best player in the Big Brother house right now – his zing for Danielle definitely took guts! It was a week of crazy competitions and crazier strategies, but ultimately Frank and Boogie’s plan prevailed.

“The thing that lies at the foundation of positive change is service to a fellow human being.” Lee Iacocca

Amanda’s been out sick all week, looks like she’s having trouble facing Ryan this week. Can’t say as I blame her. Not that they may be working together for much longer since the company seems to have lost its backers for their cancer drug. The boss has quite a pep talk for everyone though – very inspirational, or so you would think.

Corporate life is littered with mines; lose focus and you get blown to smithereens. I try staying under the radar – this strategy has led to low pay but at least I’m in one piece (my psyche is another story). In this economy, I’m just happy being employed!

That’s why it was jarring to see bonuses handed out and a fake-lawyer purchasing an apartment in Manhattan with the check. I can sell a kidney and not be able to afford the down payment! I guess I’m jealous of a fake TV lawyer and his fake TV check (sad, yes). Enough self-pity…let’s recap this sunny show full of optimistic rich gorgeous lying characters.

Finally, after the Olympics break, Masterchef is back! I missed Monti and Christine and the rest of them, but before we jump right into the show’s return, I have to admit that watching the amazing (and freakin’ adorable) Gabby Douglas and the powerhouse Claressa Shields win gold medals for my country was awesome and worth it. On a once every four years basis, of course, because if this happened every summer, I’d start getting testy.

I know the Olympics doesn’t really last that long, but I felt like I needed a full recap of what was going on with this show. Fortunately, I happen to know a great site to go for reviews of past episodes of this show, written by someone I curiously agree with 100% of the time. Weird, huh? That Two Cents site is a great find! And after catching up, I was ready to watch our remaining cooks get thrown into a live kitchen at a highly distinguished restaurant.

This week Annie is sent on a mission in Israel and is surprised, yet very happy to be working with Eyal (Oded Fehr) again. It doesn’t take long for us to see the sexual tension between the two, but Eyal quickly realizes things are a bit different with Annie.

As for Auggie, let’s just say he is one hot mess! Arthur bails his butt out of jail but bumps him back to his old job and makes him see a therapist. The bugger didn’t even care about Auggie’s personal circumstance. The only good result of this visit is that we now have Auggie and Annie back in Joan’s division. Joan should be happy, I know I am happy and I am sure the viewing audience is happy…right?

Some producer’s creativity had a few too many espressos. That’s the only explanation for this week’s challenge: To update the set for the ‘80s show The Facts of Life.

With only four designers left, the contestants had to split into teams of two. Dan immediately grabbed Hilari. Good choice. That left Tom to grumble that Leslie better behave. Each team had their own mock version of the set, a carpenter and a painter, as well as two days to complete their transformation of a boarding school great room.

Welcome back Collar fans! Doesn’t two weeks seem like a long time to leave Ellen in jeopardy? I definitely think so. But for once, we get the answer to our question immediately. Of course, if you’ve seen any of the previews, you probably know the answer already.

Elsewhere, Peter’s back to his old gig and there’s a former Lostie trying to one up our Neal.
