“Jimmy Kimmel Live” Moves to 11:35 p.m. on January 8

jimmy kimmel live is moving to 11:35pm

Capitalizing on ratings momentum, advertising demand and increased revenue potential for entertainment programming in the 11:35 p.m. time slot, ABC today announced a strategic shift in its late-night strategy to better position the network for increased ratings and financial performance over the long term. On Tuesday, January 8, “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the only late-night broadcast talk show to increase in Total Viewers this past season, will move to 11:35 p.m., putting the show in head-to-head competition with “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Late Show with David Letterman.”

Proven late-night performer “Nightline” will shift to 12:35 a.m., allowing viewers to begin and end their broadcast day with news. The moves are timed to take advantage of the built-in promotional platforms provided by ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” and ESPN’s Bowl Championship Series, which culminates with the National Championship Game on Monday, January 7. In addition, “Nightline” will expand its programming commitments with a move into primetime, Friday nights at 9:00 p.m. beginning March 1. Given its success and growth, the ABC News series “What Would You Do?” will also find a new home on the schedule.

The Kiss

“If a man of pure heart were to fall in love with her, that would bring her back to life.”

Things are getting tight for Nick in Portland, Grimm. Lies are piling up and it’s getting hard to keep track where a lie ends and another begins. That’s the life of a Grimm. Mommy Grimm had the right idea; kill Wesen from the shadows. Too bad Nick isn’t jaded like Mommy; he even befriended Wesen and uses them as sidekicks. He’s Portland’s version of Buffy. This begs the question – who’s Willow? Hank or Monroe?

Black Out Part II: The Mock Debate

Aaron Sorkin’s writing is sometimes controversial, shocking and captivating, but never boring. Until this episode of The Newsroom.

It just felt as if the entire hour was wasted and very little happened. No characters made any real progress. The storyline didn’t significantly build toward next week’s finale. And there were no moments that stuck in my head as memorable. Sad, sad, sad.

Falling Skies
A More Perfect Union

Original Air Date: Aug 19, 2012

Nothing can really top the finale of Season 1, but the writers of Falling Skies did their best. And overall, it was a good episode with a nice balance of relationships, action and revelations.

The episode begins with Arthur in jail and the General declaring martial law. Then Ben and the rebel skitters walk right into the building. It takes a while for Tom to get the powers-that-be to listen to Red Eye, but they finally learn that the fish head that Tom had captured, shot, then released (hey, sounds like real fishing, doesn’t it?) was in charge of the whole Eastern seaboard. They should have never let him go.
