American Dad – Recap & Review – Love, AD Style

Roger’s latest scheme this season is to start a lounge bar and getting ticked off at Hayley for eating all the potato bread. I love potato bread. He’s really upset because the lounge is failing and Hayley’s just moping because Jeff is on “Deadliet Catch” (really!?!) and she’s worried. Meanwhile, Stan has decided to buy a new “Hummie”. After a string of bad sexual innuendo jokes and an argument over the trade in value of his existing car, he decides to just sell it himself.

Then Roger hears Hayley singing in the shower – pretty amazingly I might add – as Stan gets only offers for sex in response to his Craigslist ad, and the stage is set.

This season we meet another of Lois’s ex-boyfriends – which always makes Peter jealous – and they’re invited to dinner with him and his wife. I have to agree with Lois that at a certain point in life, a home-cooked meal that I’m not responsible for is an exciting thing. But I digress, and it’s likely to be more exciting than Lois plans for as Peter’s antics embarrass the entire family and Brian is forced to beg from the floor like a regular dog.

I know there was a joke in the dressing and salad tossing – was I too old to get it?

Broken

The purple smoke monster dissipated and Storybrooke is shaken in its aftermath. The repercussion includes an angry mob and a Wraith. One is understandable after 28 years of Regina’s curse; the other is a direct result of Rumpel’s revenge. Life in Storybrooke is complicated.

In Storybrooke, everyone remembers Fairytale and the 28 years of time-freeze. This makes the whole town steaming mad and they’re not going to take it anymore. Time for the pitchforks!

Dexter – Recap & Review – Are You…?

Dexter
Are You…?

Original Air Date: Sep 30, 2012

Is there still life in Dexter? That was the question on many lips after the last, near-universally panned, subpar season. Between the obvious killer “twist” and strains of adopted sibling relationships, we were largely rolling our eyes at the lack of intensity of season six. But the last scene proved a game changer.

We unravel season seven with a large question hanging over viewers’ (and Dexter’s) heads. And that is… how long can Dexter keep going? We know it’s renewed for this season and next, but is there story left to be told? At this point, I’ll offer you a very tentative yes. And that is based solely on the final scene of this season premiere.

Doctor Who – Recap & Review – The Angels Take Manhattan

Doctor Who
The Angels Take Manhattan

Original Air Date: Sep 29, 2012

New York is practically in black and white as a PI takes on a case he’ll most certainly live to regret. A crime boss with a collecting fetish informs the detective about the Angels, but the PI just quips, takes the money and does as he’s told. He goes to the hotel address he’s given, shocked to see his name written on the door, his wallet inside, aged. An old man warns him to get out of there. That old man is himself. It’s too late though, the angels are following him, and he gets so far as the roof before he sees the Statue of Liberty, mouth open, mere yards away.

Meanwhile, present day and the Doctor is reading a detective story, aloud. He hates endings though, so he rips out the last page and stashes it away. Amy mocks him, wearing the reading glasses mentioned in The Power of Three. Rory comments that only the Doctor could fancy a character from a book: Melody Malone. Then he goes to get some coffee. He doesn’t come back. However, he does turn up in the book set in the past.

Fringe – Recap & Review – Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11

Fringe
Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11

Original Air Date: Sep 28, 2012

And so it begins. Episode one of the fifth (and final) season of Fringe, said to be a “13-hour feature film saga” by show creators, began in a hazy flashback of the day of invasion. In case you missed last season’s ‘Letters of Transit,’ The Observers took over the Earth in 2015 and have been running it like 1960s Soviets.

In the flashback, we see the day that Peter and Olivia lost Henrietta. She was three and it was awful. We’re not 100% sure as to what has happened in the interim (except that most of the team had been amberized), but here, in 2036, ‘Etta has rescued her father, grandfather, and Auntie Astrid from amber. Now they just need to find Mama Olivia.

CSI:NY – Recap & Review – Reignited

CSI:NY
Reignited

Original Air Date: Sep 28, 2012

Maria – Associate Staff Writer
maria@thetwocentscorp.com

We open on Mac coming out of the shower, looking worse for wear. We can see the bullet wound on his back. Once he’s fully dressed, we get to see the cornucopia of medications he has to take to get through the day. It may appear that Super Mac isn’t feeling so super, but I have every confidence he’ll get through this.

Meanwhile, Jo Danville and Sheldon Hawkes are already at a NYPD vs. FDNY ice hockey game when Mac joins them. Flack, Adam and Danny are amongst the players. Mac is talking to Curtis from the fire department during the game, catching him up and catching the audience up. It’s been 6 months, and Mac is still dating Christine, but there are slight hesitations which hint he’s not as well as he says. It’s a crazy game, but Sid and Lindsay are debating movies instead of focusing on the tight match. Although Lindsay does pay attention when Danny hits the post and another member of the audience insults him. Nobody insults Lindsay Messer’s husband and gets away with it. The Fire Department wins the match, but they’re called out to a fire which kills Captain Curtis Smith!

“Dressed in the skin, the Wolf strolled into the pasture with the Sheep. Soon a little Lamb was following him about and was quickly led away to slaughter.”

Cults are creeptastic. Look at Apple. That’s right, Apple is a freaking cult. Millions of people worship the deceased founding father, Steve Jobs, who is in Geek Heaven. People donate to Apple temples in exchange for a religious Apple experience. If your faith wavers due to the Devil’s interference (Samsung, is that you?), you can visit the priests at the Genius Bar. When Apple Gods create a new Apple iExperience, millions of people line up. After receiving the newly created blessing (with a substantial donation, of course), other cult members applaud passionately with envy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m drinking the Kool-aid – but it’s a cult, is all I’m saying. Nothing to do with Wesen, but just wanted to warn you folks.
