And the Law Won
Original Air Date: Oct 7, 2012
Patricia Morris Buckley — Sr. Staff Writer

Last week’s episode was titled “I Fought the Law” and this week’s is “And the Law Won.” But did the law really win?
Will is back with a wrongful death case against a police officer who tasered a man to death during an anti-NATO rally. His case is going so well that he’s offered an $800,000 settlement but refuses it, upsetting court-appointed trustee Clark Hayden, whose job it is to get the firm out of debt. Then a juror starts to ask questions, according to a new law that allows jurors this privilege, and begins to torpedo the case. They need Kalinda’s magic.

After last week’s thrilling conclusion where Emily and Nolan watched Victoria hire White Haired Man to kill Emily, this episode began a little more low-key. A young Emily is in the car with her mom driving down the road. Emily’s mother is speaking with her when suddenly her face morphs into Victoria. This nightmare wakes Emily up and she is grabbing at Nolan’s neck. He tells her she probably shouldn’t be napping in the open, given the white-haired man. And questions, “Or are you actually baiting the white-haired Manibal Lecter to come for you”.
Nolan continues to have the best one-liners. It is clear to both Emily and Nolan that Victoria has lied about working for the government, but they are unsure as to why. Does it have something to do with Charlotte?

This leg of the Race features two really interesting tasks, one brute strength task, and one TV-friendly “task.” One team has a lot of trouble making balloon animals. Three teams have really bad luck with taxis.
What will it be that takes a team down?

After tonight’s installment, all I can think is that while ice cream sounds good, I’m not looking forward to the next time I eat spaghetti or steak. And even if she doesn’t know it, Deb really needs to think twice before going for the A-1 Steak Sauce.
If last week’s episode was a game changer, then tonight’s episode was merely the first inning. We had lots of exposition, but not a lot in the way of action. I’m back aboard the Dexter train after last season’s misfire, but I would definitely like to see the pace pick up a bit.
We open right where we left off last week, with Dexter giving chase to Deb as she runs out of the apartment to break down and hurl from her newly gained confirmation, that yes, her brother is a serial killer. He admits he’s been killing since he was twenty and is the Bay Harbor Butcher, which in itself could be an extremely lengthy conversation. She’s repulsed that he named his compulsion (Dark Passenger). Despite his proclamation that he only kills really, really bad guys, Deb isn’t appeased, but does humorously refer to herself as “the worst f—king detective in the world.” Deb’s not sure what to do and leaves to give it some thought. Ghost Harry appears to say that Dexter should have been more careful.

We begin again with the memory of the day Peter and Olivia lost Etta. This time, it is Olivia that is experiencing the nightmare. One moment, they’re having a lovely day at the park, and the next moment The Observers show up and Etta is gone. It’s not a pleasant memory, and the wound is very fresh. For Peter and Olivia, their baby girl has only been gone a couple of months. But today they are all together again, and they have a job to do.
As fried as Walter is, he is still clinging to the hope that the device Olivia retrieved from Grand Central will help him piece together the plan scattered throughout in his brain; the plan that will overthrow The Observers. But wait a minute: wasn’t Walter the King of Documentation? Olivia surmises that Walter must have written the plan down somewhere, perhaps the lab at Harvard?

Previously on CSI:NY, arsonist Leonard Brooks (Rob Morrow) was found at the scene of an arson attack in which Firefighter Captain Curtis Smith died. Brooks then helped the police catch the arsonist/murderer; a woman who was obsessed with Brooks, but used his methods to kill. Brooks realized she did not wish to be rehabilitated from murderous ways, and allowed her to be consumed by her own explosion.
Now, a woman steps into an elevator and the elevator starts to combust. Brooks is outside in his car, and leaves when Mac and Jo turn up to assess the crime scene. Still, Flack is able to find footage of Brooks posing as an elevator maintenance worker. Last episode showed the respect he had for human life, and his reluctance to watch it be taken. Guess that’s gone now, because he murdered that woman in a most horrendous way, and his phone call to Mac hints that there’s more to come!

Leslie continues her work as a member of city council by introducing the “Leslie Knope Fun In The Sun Act,” which would extend community pool hours for the town’s youth swim team, Pawnee Porpoises. However, this new measure is thrown into jeopardy when rival Councilman Jamm will only back the bill for a price.
Chis, always the one to shake things up at City Hall, takes a cue from his therapist sessions and creates a new Pawnee service that helps Ron meet a local single mom while fixing a pothole. Back in Washington, April and Ben decide to take a disastrous surprise road trip to Pawnee.

This is it, guys.
As the episode’s title indicates, it’s the beginning of the end. We’ve followed the TGS gang for seven whole seasons and by now we’ve grown accustomed to their weirdness, and what’s more is that we love them for it.
In the farewell season’s opening scene, we’re greeted by a smiling Liz standing in front of 30 Rock and she’s holding something that looks suspiciously like a baby, talking about how she finally has it all. Wait, wait…back up!

Bernadette’s opening wedding gifts at the start of this week’s episode and I got a good chuckle out of Sheldon’s “inappropriate” gravy boat. And an even bigger chuckle out of Amy’s assertion that her and Sheldon would be getting married in exactly four years. But don’t tell him that – he’s still a “flight risk”.
On the other hand, Penny finally admits to Bernadette and Amy that she “loves” Leonard, but….
