Matsing comes into the week with just three members left. They can’t possibly lose again, can they? There will be a merge or they’ll win immunity or something, right? Right? Meanwhile, Abi continues to tell RC that she doesn’t trust her. Pete gets some more screen time and he uses it to tell us just how smart he thinks he is. The Kalabaw men form an alliance but, simultaneously, so do the Kalabaw women.

But, really, the whole episode is about whether Matsing wins immunity.

Law & Order: SVU – Recap & Review – Twenty-Five Acts

Law & Order: SVU
Twenty-Five Acts

Original Air Date: Oct 10, 2012

Caitlin – Staff Writer

Here in Michigan, it was 40 degrees Fahrenheit outside today, so it was a bit odd to hear SVU still talking about a heat wave. Turns out it’s still four months before the election there. Don’t you all remember those happy times?

Tonight’s episode features one of those storylines with characters who bear no resemblance whatsoever to people in real life. In this case, it’s the author of a wildly popular erotic novel. She hooks up with a TV host, but the affair turns violent.

NCIS – Recap & Review – Phoenix

NCIS

Ducky’s been having a hard time of late. He’s still recovering after his heart attack caused by news of the NCIS bombing. The core team survived, but Ducky is going stir crazy being away from the team, on medical leave. So, he finds his own case to work on.

Ducky was reading the obituaries when he noticed that the father of Navy Commander Bruce Roberts, a man whose death certificate he signed 12 years ago, died of a rare genetic liver disease. If Ducky had known about the liver disease, he would have done his autopsy differently as several poisons could have made it look like a natural death due to drinking too much alcohol. Ducky needs to know, but the trouble is… he doesn’t exactly have jurisdiction.

TwoCents and Five Questions with Jesse Spencer & Taylor Kinney (Chicago Fire)

jesse & taylor

Jesse Spencer & Taylor Kinney, Actors

Everyone knows Jesse Spencer as Chase from House. Boy, he wasted no time in finding another gig, huh? Thank heavens! Am I right, ladies? And for Vampire Diaries fans, you’ll remember Taylor Kinney as Tyler’s Uncle Mason, the original werewolf in Mystic Falls. Aren’t you kind of glad that Damon killed him off now? Just a little bit? I also have a soft place for him in my heart because he is from Lancaster, PA, which is only 45 minutes away from me. (Plus he dates Lady Gaga, but I won’t go on about that!) Tonight they embark on a new journey, the new NBC drama, Chicago Fire. Clearly, it is a show about firefighters in Chicago. Jesse plays Lieutenant Matthew Casey and and Taylor plays Lieutenant Kelly Severide. I’m really looking forward to it. A few days ago, I had a chance to talk to the guys about their new show. Read on to see what they had to say!

TheTwoCents: I was wondering if either of you added anything to your character that wasn’t originally in the script?

Farewell…Alex Karras

rip big guy

A Karras family member has confirmed that the actor and former NFL football player has passed away. Karras died at the age of 77 from kidney failure following his struggle with various illnesses over the last several years, including kidney disease, heart disease, stomach cancer, and dementia.

Karras was formerly a player for the Detroit Lions NFL team from 1958 to 1970 before he became an actor. He made his debut appearance on the ‘Daniel Boone’ television series as Williams, and went on to appear in several television shows, ranging from ‘M*A*S*H*’ to ‘The Odd Couple,’ before landing a gig as Webster’s father, George Papadapolis, on the beloved 80s television series ‘Webster.’

The actor also starred in a handful of movies, including Mel Brooks’ ‘Blazing Saddles’ and ‘Porky’s’ before making his final film appearance in 1998 for Vincent Gallo’s ‘Buffalo ’66′ in which he played a TV sportscaster. Karras may not have a had a huge career, but he certainly made his mark as most people will remember him very fondly from his days on ‘Webster’ and his hilarious turn in ‘Blazing Saddles.’

TheTwoCents bids Alex Karras a regretful farewell. You will be missed Mr. Karras. RIP.

Made In Jersey Becomes New TV Season’s First Casualty

photo: cbs

CBS has canceled the new drama, Made in Jersey, effective immediately. The fourth season of the Emmy Award-winning reality series Undercover Boss will premiere Friday, Nov. 2 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) as Mitchell B. Modell, CEO of Modell’s Sporting Goods, ventures to the frontlines of his popular sporting goods and athletic apparel store for an unfiltered look into the inner workings of his corporation. In the meantime, NCIS will air in the vacated timeslot on 10/12 and 10/26 and Hawaii Five-O will fill the spot on 10/19. This blogger is actually sad to see it go. My boyfriend is from Jersey and we really liked the show. RIP Made in Jersey!

My TwoCents: Does NBC Want to Save Community?

So, NBC has postponed the premier of Community indefinitely. This is after they already signed the show’s death certificate by switching it from Thursday night to Friday night and firing its creator and showrunner, Dan Harmon.

The reason for the delay is that because some of NBC’s new shows are doing so well and some shows are doing so poorly that the execs are trying to see where Community (and Whitney which has also had its premier delayed indefinitely)might fit into the lineup. It seems to me they’re either trying to save it or kill it.

However, I’m not sure they want to save the show. I think the earlier switch to Friday night makes it pretty clear that Community was put on the back burner in favor of new shows. The fanbase is small, but loyal, so that means the number of viewers will be slight. We all know that numbers are everything.

As a fan, I just hope the show comes back with the same quality it had before Harmon was sacked. I’m not holding my breath at this point and that makes me sad for my favorite show.

TwoCents and Five Questions with Anthony Anderson (Guys with Kids)

anderson

Anthony Anderson, Actor

The first time I saw Anthony Anderson was onscreen with Jerry O’Connell and a kangaroo in “Kangaroo Jack.” I thought he was hilarious! Then I was very impressed to see his more serious side on the small screen in such shows as The Shield, K-Ville, and Law & Order. But this Fall, he’s returned to his comedy roots in the Jimmy Fallon produced NBC comedy, Guys with Kids. Anthony stars as Gary, a 30-something father struggling because he’s still a child at heart himself. I had a chance to talk to him during a conference call recently and he shared a bit about the show and his history with the comedy genre. Please read on.

TheTwoCents: Anthony, does your comedy come easy to you? Has it always?

Parenthood – Recap & Review – There’s Something I Need to Tell You…

There’s Something I Need to Tell You…

Original Air Date: Oct 9, 2012

Jules – News Editor
jules@thetwocentscorp.com

When the Bravermans get together I usually get very happy or very weepy. Tonight we got both. I’ve always enjoyed when the family gets together and this episode was no different. As the title insinuates, tonight’s the night Kristina tells everyone about the cancer and with tissues in hand, I was ready.

In the midst of this, we also get a lot of other storylines running along the theme of what it means to be a grown up, which sometimes means being able to make the big decisions, which several characters tackle this week. So let’s get started.
