It’s being said that this is the comeback season of Dexter after the past two lackluster years. Right now, I would safely say that I am about 60% on board with that hypothesis, even though we are only three episodes into the seventh season.

And the sole reason for that 60% is Deb and Dexter’s newly intense, and non-incest, relationship. OK, maybe I’ll give another slight percentage to LaGuerta’s growing curiosity, but the rest of the show needs to pick up some serious pace to keep interest. Because, in my opinion, Ukrainian Stripper Gate is dragging the rest of the show down.

So where are the other tapes? That was my main question after last week’s episode. I didn’t have to wait long for an answer… they’re all in the lab. Astrid lasers one out of the amber and they pop it into the VCR. Too bad it’s Tape 3. I guess the order doesn’t matter much, just that the tasks on each tape are completed. Sort of a Choose Your Own Adventure, if you will.

On to the first (er, third) task: VCR Walter gives them coordinates that lead them into a forest in Pennsylvania. Of course, Walter has no memory of the place, so they just wander on in and are quickly surrounded by the refugees that dwell there. These people all have what appear to be burn patches all over their bodies. Back at their quite empressive camp deep in the forest, a man named Edwin recognizes Walter. He tells them that they have all been exposed to whatever the people who live in the forest have.

‘Let me out, let me out,’ the spirit cried. And the boy, thinking no evil, drew the cork out of the bottle.

It’s like Criminal Minds up in Portland, Grimm. Does a Grimm in the area lead to an uptick in Wesen crime? Is it a correlation or causation? I need to visit Portland, Grimm and do some research. Get back to you after my visit with Monroe.

We hit the ground running as a young man runs through the streets, past woods, only to eventually be caught by Mac Taylor. Just what is Mac doing in San Francisco?

Jump to 72 hours earlier and we’re naturally in New York. What better way to establish this than having a dead body on the Brooklyn Bridge? 19 year old Ethan Grohl bled to death from a stab wound, but his death may lead to another case, as Grohl has photographs of a missing teenage girl in his belongings. She looks dead! One homicide may have just become two.

NBC’s “Mockingbird Lane” To Premiere Friday, Oct. 26

photo: nbc

As Halloween nears, NBC turns Friday, October 26 into Fright Night when it premieres the pilot of the much-anticipated “Mockingbird Lane” (8-9 p.m. ET) — based on executive producer Bryan Fuller’s (“Pushing Daisies,” “Heroes”) script and directed by executive producer Bryan Singer (“X-Men” film series, “House”). The special program leads into a haunting “La Llorona” Halloween episode of “Grimm” (9-10 p.m. ET), which will also enjoy special airings on NBCUniversal’s Telemundo and mun2.

“Mockingbird Lane” is a new reimagined version of the classic 1960s comedy “The Munsters,” now as a visually spectacular one-hour drama with a darker edge and tone. The cast includes Jerry O’Connell (“The Defenders”) as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi (“Arrested Development”) as his wife Lily, Eddie Izzard (“United States of Tara,” “The Riches”) as Grandpa, Mason Cook (‘Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D”) as Eddie and Charity Wakefield (“The Raven”) as Marilyn.

NBC Cancels “Next Caller” Before it Airs

photo: nbc

According to Deadline, NBC has pulled the midseason comedy series Next Caller before it even aired.

Back in May, NBC had given the series a six-episode order and according to Deadline, four episodes have been filmed and will no longer air. Created and executive produced by Stephen Falk, Next Caller starred Cook as a foul-mouthed satellite radio DJ forced to share the mic with a chipper NPR feminist played by Collette Wolfe.

It’s a day of shakeups at TGS and Jack lets Liz in on the biggest one- during a Skype session with Mitt Romney’s Olympic dressage horse, he learned that veep nominee Paul Ryan has been forced to drop out of the race when it’s discovered he was actually born in Kenya. Once the new nominee is announced, everyone notes the uncanny resemblance to one of TGS’s very own and Liz must decide to break or keep her “no political sketches” promise with Jack. Election season equals big numbers for sketch shows, which doesn’t work with Jack’s plan to take down NBC.

In family news, Kenneth’s beloved mother (the amazing Catherine O’Hara) comes to town and brings along her “special friend” Ron (a hilarious Bryan Cranston), who has been famously referenced by Kenneth over the years. Kenneth has never been a fan of Ron’s and it’s Jenna to the rescue to fix this family.

Howard’s reaching the end of his rope in space this week. He’s so desperate for gravity that he has Bernadette drop a pencil for him just so he can watch it fall. But at least he only has a few more days to go. Has he forgotten about the fireworks when he gets home? I’m sure there’s still the issue of where he and Bernadette will be living.

In the meantime, Sheldon’s decided to go through his childhood journeys to see if he’s already made his “great discovery” and I’m not even sure I could follow what he wrote about Algebra when he was five.
