Perhaps it’s fitting that an episode so close to Halloween is when various skeletons come out of the closet and several bodies are laid to rest, both professionally and personally.

Halloween might be the time of spooks and ghouls but in Pawnee, it’s bringing upon some change for our favourite government workers. Ron is still seeing Diane but has yet to warm up to her two daughters, and his inexperience with children surfaces during a round of trick-or-treating. During a city hall horror movie screening, Jerry suffers a mild heart attack which lands him in the hospital and prompts Leslie to hold a garage sale to help pay the hospital bills.
Despite all these things, perhaps the biggest change of them all is between Ben and Leslie. Ben is finally wrapping up his stint in D.C. and he and Leslie are about to lease a house together, but there’s a sudden change of plans when he’s approached to spearhead a campaign in Florida. The last few minutes of this episode were a doozy and all I can say is, “Halloween Surprise” indeed!

All Hallows’ Eve is the perfect time for Wesen to walk amongst humans full-on Woge without repercussions. This is probably how stories of vampires, werewolves and other monsters started. In Portland, Grimm, the monsters are out and about – even ghosts are joining in the game. That’s right, ghosts – not the Casper kind.

It’s usually not a good thing when Sherlock Holmes disappears, but it’s bound to happen from time to time. This episode opens with Watson anxiously appealing to Gregson because Holmes hasn’t answered a text in 3 hours, so she admits to Gregson she’s really a sober companion and she’s afraid Holmes has relapsed. Well if that’s the case, it’s probably better than a Moriarty-related waterfall incident so I’d take it any day!
As it turns out, he hasn’t responded because he’s currently handcuffed in the back of a car. Well, can’t say I’m surprised. Let’s see what happens after the jump!

A group of excited easygoers has descended upon the 30 Rock plaza, and they’re all here for one person: Jenna Maroney. Turns out Jenna’s Jimmy Buffet rip-off has gained her a new fanbase- the margarita drinkin’ and Hawaiian shirt wearin’ “Crab Catchers.” Everyone knows her as a high maintenance drama queen but these people consider her the queen of “unwindulaxing.” With the writers on her back, what happens when she can’t keep up the facade?
Liz, as a “chum,” accompanies Jack to a Republican fundraising lunch where she struggles to remain civil in a room full of old, rich people. Soon enough, they’re butting heads politics-wise yet again and Liz decides to use her position as head writer of TGS to inform the public. It all comes down to a battle between ideas and money.

Dwight puts his head inside a hollowed out pumpkin and then he can’t get it off. He’s just going to wait for it to rot off.
It’s Halloween in the office. Erin is a puppy, Pam is Dr. Cinderella. Jim is not in costume because he’s got a meeting with his new business partners. Nellie is dressed as Sexy Toby, Meredith as Black Widow, and Andy is dressed like George Michael. Andy’s a capella group from Cornell, Here Comes Treble, group comes in to sing. They’re all dressed like Andy (I suspect this may not be intentional) and they’re going to sing at the office Halloween party.

“A pair of chimpanzees could do what you two failed to do.” Ah yes, the age of quip of an irate supervisor. Defense Secretary Curry arrives on Sainte Marina in an attempt to negotiate with Marcus Chaplin and Sam Kendal. While the Colorado’s captain and XO are occupied in negotiations, Grace Shepard is tasked with a mission and takes command of the sub for the first time.
The episode starts with Marcus and Sam wearing their classy dress white uniforms. They practice a mock debate to prepare for meeting with Curry. After practicing, Sam goes out to the balcony where Sophie joins him and they flirt a little bit. Sam admits to feeling like an ice cream delivery guy. Sophie thinks the uniform looks cute. One of the sonar arrays surrounding the island goes dead. Sophie says it’s probably just a dead battery. Sam tasks Grace to take the sub with a small crew and fix the sonar array.

This was my favorite type of Grey’s Anatomy hour… it mixed levity, sexiness, and bizarre medical maladies into one hour that brought back something that had been missing… fun. With the specter of amputations, plane crashes, and death this year, there has been a lack of humor so far this season.
All of that changed this hour and all it took was some sass from Cristina and a patient with a really enlarged body part. And of course, lots of sexy time for a whole bunch of our doctors!

In real life, we’re still 6 days from Halloween. But since most shows only air once a week, it’s time for characters to get into costume. Ava and Walter are enjoying the season together and Reagan runs into a scare (of sorts) as a mark of her age.
To be fair, she probably should have seen it coming, trying to act cooler than she was in a café full of younger people. But when she slips and falls, the barista asks “are you okay, ma’am?” And cue something much more alarming than any monster.
