Last episode, Daniel made a play for Grayson Global exploiting the initial investment David Clarke had made in NolCorp. After being promised an exclusive story by Emily, Mason Treadwell confessed to murdering Conrad Murphy. Meanwhile, Emily seemed to have forgiven Aiden for his previous betrayals and took him back into her bed.

This week, most of the episode takes place in the year 2006. Emily finds Aiden working as a bartender in a bar that is seems to be servicing Russian gangsters. She is on a mission for Takeda to bring Dimitri (a Russian gangster who traffics in young women, including Colleen) to him. One of the women at the club trying to get employed by Dmitri is Ashley. Emily pays her to leave and never look back after asking her to forward details about when Dimitri will arrive at the club. I liked learning more about Ashley. This is pretty telling and probably explains more about where Ashley’s drive and ambition come from.

TwoCents and Five Questions with Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project)

what will she do next?

Mindy Kaling, Actor

Mindy Kaling has appeared in many recent funny movies, including “40 Year Old Virgin”, “License to Wed”, “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian”, and “Despicable Me.” Her television career is well noted. I fell in love with the Kelly Kupoor character on The Office. How could you not? Even Ryan the Temp kept going back! Now that the show is ending, I was happy to hear that Mindy was starting her own show, but I was skeptical. Would The Mindy Project be successful? I have to admit, I’m really enjoying the show. In a recent interview, Mindy discussed the new show and her feelings about it. Enjoy!

TheTwoCents: There is such great chemistry between all the cast on the show. Was it instant, or did it take a little bit of time for everyone to gel since you’re also their boss, kind of?

TwoCents and Five Questions with Zooey Deschanel (New Girl)

zooey

Zooey Deschanel, Actor

Nobody expected New Girl to be quite as big of a hit as it was when it debuted last Fall. Even it’s star, Zooey Deschanel, was a little surprised. She was certainly no stranger to acting, having starred in such movies as “Elf”, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, and “(500) Days of Summer”. She’d also guest starred on many TV shows, including her sister, Emily Deschanel’s show, Bones. But New Girl was her first headlining role. She has great chemistry with her co-stars and the show is hilarious. It’s one of my favorites. On a recent conference call, Zooey shared some of her feelings about the show. Please read on.

TheTwoCents: You’re so funny in this show. Has comedy always come easy to you or is it something you’ve had to work out with?

TwoCents and Five Questions with Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope)

still a goonie at heart

Martha Plimpton, Actor

To me, Martha Plimpton will always be mostly remembered as Stef in “Goonies”. I consider myself a Goonie at heart and I tell her that. I told Sean Astin that too, but that’s for another day. Martha was also in many other movies such as “Parenthood”, “The Mosquito Coast”, and “Dante’s Inferno”. She’s guest starred on many TV shows over the years, but for the past two years she has starred on Raising Hope on FOX. She plays Virginia Chance, matriarch of the “puts fun in dysfunctional” Chance family. The show just started it third season and she had a lot to share about it.

TheTwoCents: I am a big fan. I’m a Goonie. I’ve been a Goonie since the 80’s. You’ve had a wide variety of roles, and I was wondering whether you preferred drama or comedy?

Well… that was a game changer, wasn’t it? After nine episodes of season seven, with three episodes remaining, I can honestly say that I have no idea where the show is headed. Considering I figured out season six’s “big twist” about a quarter ways through, it’s oddly refreshing.

And in the spirit of this past week’s holiday, let’s also note that Dexter has somethings to be thankful (and not thankful) for this week. So let’s count down the list…

The Amazing Race – Recap & Review – “Fishy Kiss”

The Amazing Race
”Fishy Kiss”

The teams remain completely spread out and this is another almost completely drama-free leg. The only real drama comes from the U-Turn and how teams react to it. Other than that, there is no chance for teams to catch up. But, really, the teams at the bottom earned that deficit and it isn’t the race’s responsibility to close the gap for them.

So, not much drama. What’s to like about this leg? Well, a classic Road Block reappears (and fortunately, it’s not unrolling hay bales!). There’s a bus that drives into the water. There’s fish-eating twins. It rains on Abbie and Ryan. Abbie has a cute winter hat.

Glee – Recap & Review – Dynamic Duets

Something that should have been epically bizarre ended up working for Glee this week. The superhero saturated episode name dropped everything from The Avengers and X-Men, and instead of making me roll my eyes, it actually worked.

Thank goodness because last week’s Glease was a dud.
